The most honest mechanics I have ever worked with. I have taken my car here twice for brake pad replacements and both times they were transparent about what services I needed, and they will take the time to fully explain to you why they recommend the services that they do. Recently I came in to replace the rear brake pads because my Mini Cooper gave an automatic warning to replace them based on mileage. I brought it to Auto 7 Tech; rather than simply replacing the pads they inspected it and actually told me that the pad thickness was fine and that I didn't need to replace them yet - the prioritized being honest over getting me to pay for potentially unnecessary service. However when I went to pick my car up, they let me know that they had inspected more closely and found that the inner surface on the left pad was indeed worn down. I appreciate this attention to detail and transparency. I also asked them if I needed to replace the rotors, and they told me that they had driven the car around and concluded that the rotors didn't need replacement (in contrast two other shops insisted on bundling the pad replacement and the rotor replacement). In my experience Auto 7 also gives very fair pricing compared to other shops. At Auto7 they will inspect your car carefully and thoroughly before recommending service, and they will not try to upsell you or take advantage of you. read more

This review concerns the annual state inspection service at Auto 7 Tech, just west of Mopac off Parmer Lane in North Austin. We live nearby and have used Auto 7 Tech exclusively for our state inspections for the past several years. Our experience has been fast and snag-free each time, so we keep coming back. Generally, the wait is brief or non-existent if you arrive when they open for the day at 9 am. Keep in mind, this is a family-owned, independent small business, so occasionally, life may get in the way of perfect service. For example, on my last visit, the shop was not open until the owner showed up at 9:10am to unlock the doors, but he then got right to work on my inspection. I was out of there by 9:30 am, still better than I would have done at one of the big box stores. Auto 7 saved me from going without a car, quite literally. My car started acting up randomly on a Friday afternoon and barely ran by the evening. Turns out I had a burnt sensor in my engine. I bought the sensor from Advanced Auto Parts and took it to Auto 7 to replace. I had read great reviews online and they did not disappoint. My car was taken in and fixed within an hour and costs me about $70. The owner is incredibly friendly and his son did a great job on my car. They even offered to inspect it for me too for an extra $18. This saved me a trip on a separate day. The waiting room was also very accommodating... there were vending machines with water/sodas, a tv showing the news, magazines, and comfy chairs. Overall, I'd highly recommend this shop. I've taken my car here twice for an inspection and service. They seem to charge fair prices and provide quick service. Most recently, I dropped in without an appointment around 5PM on a Friday for an inspection. The mechanic who worked on my car completed the inspection & then explained in detail while showing me on my car what was most urgently in need of service (but not required to pass inspection). He didn't push anything, just simply explained and gave me a quote for future reference. It was something that I was also told by a mechanic in the past that I would need to get serviced soon, but I had forgotten about it. I liked his honest, straightforward approach and decided to get the service done immediately. He was able to get everything done in an hour. read more

I usually take my BMW to the dealership just cuz. Off late since Covid BMW has been scheduling for service too many days out. On 2 separate occasions I had to get inspection done and top off the oil. Called BMW and they gave me run around with appointment. Ended up bringing my BMW to Auto 7. Both times they were very quick and took care of me right away without any appointment and got me off to work in a jiffy. One of my businesses is 2 doors down so it is a super convenient location for me. For the stuff they did for $30 BMW would have charged me $300 at least. I would highly recommend this place to anybody looking for good auto shop. read more

Omg this shop is saving my life! I have gone to this auto shop in the past for oil changes and inspections, and I knew they were great, but tonight's situation truly showed me how wonderful they are! My car wouldn't start when I tried to leave the Walgreens one block away on a Saturday at 5:30pm. Luckily, I saw Auto 7 was open until 7, so I walked to the shop and told them of my situation. They offered to drive me over to Walgreens and check out the car, which was so sweet! Not only that, Mo offered me an ice cold water while I waited for him to finish up at the shop before taking me to my car. When we got to the car, Mo tried everything he could to get it started, but he said the starter was dead. I have to get it towed to the shop so he can replace the starter. He told me what to say and what to ask to my insurance agent so I could get a good price on the tow, and once that was squared away, he asked if I was comfortable waiting while he ran to a store to get the necessary parts. He offered his number so we could stay in contact. By this time, it was already 7:15pm (after closing time), and Mo is waiting at the shop for my arrival with my car to get it fixed tonight. I KNOW he doesn't want to spend a Saturday night working on a starter, but he is going to stay late for me since I was planning on going on a road trip tomorrow (what timing ). All I have to say is, thank goodness for Mo and the crew at Auto 7! They really do go above and beyond for their customers, and I couldn't be more thankful! read more

I'm 16 hours away but my UT Austin student needed emergency front end/suspension/axle/alignment work done on a 2007 MInI Cooper. We took a chance and could easily have been taken. He kept his store open so my daughter could get the work done. We went in blind but this shop and it's professionalism was beyond words. This review had a long time coming. I owned a 2005 Ford Escape gray. And I say this specifically so the owners know I was a legitimate customer. This shop was close by so I took it there when I was having problems with my ford. They told me the issues so I paid and got it fixed. 2 weeks go by and my ford is having issues again. So I take it back in because it was quick and easy last time and pay them to fix it. 3-4 weeks later I have more issues and have to take it in. I've never had so many problems with this car in the 5 years of owning it. And having only 115,000 miles on the car. This was the biggest bill to fix and at this point I've spent around 40% of the cars value when this final transaction was done. They said they would get right to it. After sitting in there shops for over a day and a half I call them asking what's going on with my car as I need it for my work. And they have not even looked at it. They said they ran diagnostics on the whole car and I was good to go when it was finally completed. When I came back to get it I specifically remember I think what was the owner saying, "if you have any problems you just bring it back right here" 1 day later my car breaks down completely on the highway. I get my car towed to the neighboring shop All Tune & Lube. They looked at my car and revealed that my radiator cap has been leaking and I blew a gasket further needing a new engine.My car was totaled. I told them my car was just recently looked at and repair and asked how could this have happen. They said either it has been leaking and they missed it or it just all of a sudden happening after I took it there. The fact that as I go on Yelp to write this review and I see another comment that is the same story as mine is seriously concerning. The lesson to be learned here is if you want to have your car totaled with insurance not able to help. Then this is a 5 star shop. don't go for anything other than an inspection. I went to get my A/C fixed and told the person the system was more than likely overcharged because the low side psi was reading well over the recommended psi and the compressor wasn't engaging as a result. I waited 30 minutes for them to tell me the exact things I already know and on top of that, they told me I need to replace my compressor which I had already replaced about 5 months ago. when I got home I checked to see if they even tried to bleed the system and found that the psi was precisely the same. I have no idea what I paid 120$ for but i know it wasn't worth it. read more

I had the misfortune of bringing my car into Auto 7 tech recently. After reading both Google and Yelp reviews I felt confident bringing my car in to be serviced after experiencing issues with my clutch. It was a nightmare from start to finish. The first sign that maybe this neighborhood shop wasn't the best option was the fact that though the neon sign read open there was no one in the actual office to greet customers. I actually sat in the office for about 7 minutes then wandered outside before finding someone to help. After explaining my issue I left the keys with the owner/manager and he let me know he would give me a call back once they had an idea what was wrong and how much it would cost to fix it. They were swift once they figured the problem and I agreed to have it fixed that evening. The next morning I recieved a call that the car was ready and I thought everything was all set. Unfortunately that was only the beginning of my problems. This past Sunday when the rain began to set in I attempted to use my windshield wipers. To my dismay they wouldn't work. On any speed they just didn't move. After checking fuses and not finding a fix I decided to bring my car into a neighboring shop (wasn't thrilled with my initial experience at auto 7) to find out the issue. After running a diagnostic test and finding nothing the mechanic discovered the windshield wipers weren't working because the "wiper connector" was left disconnected. The technician then asked if anyone had been "fooling" with the connector to which I said no. I then let him know that a few weeks prior I had taken my car to another garage to have my clutch master cylinder replaced. That's when he let me know that fixing the master cylinder required the connector to be unplugged and it was left that way by the last technician. I paid the cost of the diagnostic test and brought my detailed invoice to the owner/manager at Auto 7 to request a refund. He immediately told me absolutely not! His defense was that I should have brought the car back to him and he would "take care" of me. Why on earth would I bring my car back to the shop that fixed my clutch because my wipers weren't working?? The two aren't connected and my warranty( there was no mention on my original invoice) only covered the parts and labor from the clutch. After going back and forth with him trying to reason and explain how his staff created a problem for me at no fault of my own he still wouldn't do the right thing and refund the money I paid to fix their mistake. Only after having a technician come into the office and explaining that there's a real possibility that It was in fact left disconnected did he break down ad give me a "partial" refund. I can't comment on anyone elese's experinece with this shop but there's no way I would ever recommend anyone giving this establishment their business. If they don't stand behind their work there are plenty of local shops that will. read more

I took my wife's 2011 Toyota Corolla to Auto 7 for some minor body work, there was damage to the rear bumper cover and right rear fender. I had already got several quotes from various body shops in the area. The owner, Moses, and I reached a good deal on the body work, about 2/3 the price of all the others.
