I dined at the T-Bone steakhouse last Saturday night but don't think I'd return there for another meal. The atmosphere is stark and not warm or welcoming, kind of like a picnic pavilion but indoors. Went to the bar which had a very sparse selection of liquors. I ordered an old fashioned and was dubious of how it would taste when I noticed the bartender putting a packet of sugar in the glass. Not surprised the taste was nothing close to how an old fashioned should taste. The menu is also very limited. If you're trying to eat healthy this is not the place to dine. My hopes were dashed when not one salad is offered on the menu (aside from a small side salad that accompanies the meal) Reluctantly, I ordered a filet mignon since I enjoy the tenderness of that cut. The server asked if we wanted bread and the bread was sliced bread that could've come out of a supermarket shelf bread bag. I asked if I could substitute the beans and was told that the beans are actually served "family style" to the table. The salad was OK and then the filet came out looking very lonely being the only thing on the plate. Unfortunately, the filet was not tender and had a heavy smoke flavor. A fellow diner said his T-Bone was also overly seasoned. Very disappointed! The beans were the worst I've ever eaten, and a can of beans would've had more flavor. Holy cow is this place expensive!!! Let's talk about the atmosphere first. I want to give it the grace of how cute and fun this spot looked. I loved the overlook over the city and I love the lights and trinkets all around the restaurant. Live music was awesome and I got to dance after dinner! But let's go into the meal and the price... I wish I took a photo of the menu but no one should be paying $40 for a 12 oz ribeye..That doesn't include sides or drinks. Know what you're getting yourself into when you arrive. We did the horseback package and me and my group had no idea we would also be spending this much on dinner alone. There was 6 of us... The food itself I honestly could have made at home. It was nothing special. The salad I could have bought from a package. The beans were like canned and the bread was nothing fancy. The food certainly was not as good as the price. Very unfortunate I wish they offered better quality. Also the presentation is so lackluster why does it all look depressing? Fix your presentation at least to look nicer, how disappointing... Overall cute spot. Good customer service and mediocre food. You don't need to come here honestly Texas Roadhouse probably would taste better (no hate on Texas roadhouse). Took my visiting cousin and her husband here, super DISAPPOINTED. The view is nice, but not necessarily spectacular. The plastic red and white picnic tablecloth was cheap- the hard bench seating (like a picnic table) was horrendous. This place was EXPENSIVE $48 for a filet with NOTHING on the plate. When they brought out our steaks, they were lost in the middle of a big, white plate, that I was surprised wasn't paper to match the plastic tablecloths. The bread was SLICED, albeit it was thicker than store loaf bread, but this was NOT homemade, it was obviously a product they bring in, pre sliced. The butter was in foil wrap which makes it awkward to open four packs of it for your potato or bread. A nice ramekin of soft, whipped butter would've been better and classier. The salad was that old spring green mix, which I hate, tastes like dirt usually and or has a 'wild' taste to it- one hard cherry tomato and two cucumber slices served in a tiny, red PLASTIC bowl like Pizza Hut in the 80's. The salad dressing was Ken's out of a jar, heavy, greasy taste. I would think a steakhouse with their supposed reputation would make some homemade, proprietary items for the exorbitant prices they charge. My cousin's steak was a filet and was ordered medium but showed up pretty rare on one end of it- their grill must not be calibrated or their cook doesn't know what they're doing. My cousins' husbands' steak was a strip or sirloin and it was RAW, barely cooked, and he had ordered his medium rare. It was so raw he couldn't even chew it. My filet was ordered well, but showed up more mid well so I had them cook it a few more moments, then it was fine. The family style beans were a joke- served thirty minutes before the entree so they were pretty cool by the time dinner came and they were quite watery. I had to pay SIX bucks for a baked potato. When they served the meat, it was on a plate, just a small piece of meat on a huge plate with no kind of garnish, nothing. It was very underwhelming. I had a prickly pear margarita which had ZERO liquor in it. Even my cousin said it tasted like fruit juice. The manager ambled over to chat for a few and I mentioned the cocktail tasted like it had no alcohol in it and no, I hadn't had any other drinks before that, nor am I an alcoholic- there was simply ZERO liquor in that drink. He mumbled around that his best 'hard pouring' bartender was on duty then went on joking about she poured so heavy handed that he had to put his hands over his eyes and go 'oh there goes my liquor cost'. That was BS- he did offer to take it off the bill, but then never did. This cost me over $200 with tip and wasn't hardly worth half of that. read more

While I don't eat bbq, the salmon was cooked well- it was very moist. The bread and beans it came with weren't too special. The salad was a standard side salad. Well the food is a long wait, but I'd say its worth it if you get the Filet Mignon or Rib-eye. Place is great, mostly packed at late nights. Wow! What a wonderful place to celebrate New Year's Eve. T-Bone Steakhouse is a charming, cowboy-themed eatery in South Mountain with an absolutely stunning view of Downtown Phoenix. Its casual atmosphere is fun and inviting for any occasion. We had a larger sized party and ended up being seated in the back room for some additional privacy. The service was incredible from start to finish - Lana took care of our group with ease, and expertly balanced the orders of 20+ people (including quite a few children!) She was especially kind and extremely attentive. The menu is simple - featuring a selection of steak offerings fit for a ranch hand. If for some reason you're not a steak person, T-Bone also has a couple of fish options, and a smoked half-chicken that looked delicious. My husband and I split the 24 oz. Porterhouse, which was the perfect size for sharing. The steak was cooked exactly to our preference (medium) and was seasoned well. Our meal also included a side salad, cowboy beans, and whole wheat bread. The beans were hands-down our favorite bite of the night - and even more flavorful when we mixed them with some of T-Bone's tangy housemade BBQ sauce. Additional sides are available for purchase á la carte, so we also shared a baked potato and mashed potatoes. Hot tip - the BBQ sauce tastes great on basically everything (potatoes, bread, steak, etc.) If you manage to save room for dessert, I highly recommend a slice of Apple Pie topped with Cinnamon Swirl Ice Cream. This is a phenomenal finish to a fun meal - their ice cream is unlike any I've had to date, and pairs perfectly with the warm apple pie. So, the view is truly amazing it's one of those places which you take visitors to Phoenix. The restaurant has been in the same location since the 1940's and it's very rustic, think old west style. Service has never been an issue here, always helpful and friendly. The food is its short coming. We have been here 5 times, the last time was under new ownership. I always order a T-Bone, I always order it medium rare and they can't get that right on all of my visits. My steak has ZERO seasoning to it. My husband has a rib eye and his steak had seasoning for multiple steaks. My husband also ordered corn on the cob but got a bake potato and when this was pointed out the server apologized but his corn on the cob never arrived. I ordered an Old Fashion and was served a whisky straight up. I have been wanting to give this place a try with new ownership but the food hasn't gotten better. Whew... this place missed the mark. I'm a steak girl through and through, but this spot had me questioning everything. I ordered a T-bone, medium well, and it came out rare. Like... still mooing. Someone else at our table got the salmon and it was basically sushi--completely undercooked. And don't get me started on the lack of seasoning. Nothing had flavor, not even the baked potato. How do you mess up a potato? Only saving grace? The red skin mashed potatoes were actually pretty solid. Oh--and the service was friendly, and the place seemed clean (once you get past the barnyard aroma from the nearby horses). If you're headed here for the horseback riding, maybe just stick to that. If you are looking for a unique cowboy dining experience, look no further and check this place out. We celebrated a friends birthday dinner here and we had mixed feelings. We were a party of 11 and so we were seated at one long table with benches. (these got a little uncomfortable after a while) There was also another party sitting behind us celebrating a birthday. The service we received from the two servers was not so good. There was a couple times they forgot we existed and or forgot to bring items we had requested. They also didn't bring my friend a slice of cake nor sing to him. The table behind us had a different server and she did for them. The food needs seasoning and a lot of it.... I found myself adding salt to every bite I took. It was cooked nicely though. Oh and my bloody mary was gross..... I couldn't finish it. Overall we had fun, because we made the best of it and the ambience was very different then any other steak house I have been to. Our burgers were overcooked & salty, on the verge of burnt, not med. Our waiter stated that he would substitute the beans, which I cannot stomach, with a baked potato at No charge. Service was great from the beginning, but then fizzled out. No refill on Diet Coke, When the bill arrived at the table, we were charged for everything, including the baked potato with no butter. Then no waiter again. We are customers that don't complain, but we will not be back. Even though we live less than 1/4 mile away. The restaurant is off the path from where you would find most places to eat; it is surrounded by homes. The atmosphere is relaxed and transports you to a more country feel. The views of the city are amazing from any table inside or outside. The menu is limited but all the food is home style and hearty. We went on a Friday and were pleasantly surprised by the cute ambiance. The servers were very nice, the drinks at the bar were very inexpensive. However, the flavor and quality of the meat just make this place not worth a visit. The best thing we had was the sliced light wheat bread that came with the meal and individual salads that were served in a bowl. They took the salad bar away after Covid. The bone-in beef ribeye was cut horribly. Basically it had a shard of bone and so much gristle it was hard to navigate. It had absolutely zero salt or pepper added to it and seemed almost flavorless. The baked beans seems like they were plain beans out of a can. They had absolutely no seasoning whatsoever. The pork chops were also completely unseasoned they were cooked well and were not dry except that they were loin chops so they were not as tender as I had hoped. We were celebrating one of our birthdays so they did bring a very over cooked and dry brownie with ice cream on top. It certainly seemed like it had been heated in the microwave because it was crisp on the edges and softer in the center. The cute red and white checkered tablecloths were nice and that feeling of being in the wild west of the 1800s certainly permeated the atmosphere. Been here a few more times but wanted to update my review, given all the negative reviews. T-Bone is still a great restaurant, with great service and one of the best views in the valley. A great date night with my wife of 37 years. We arrived at 6 PM on a Friday and it was 3/4 full. We were immediately greeted and seated. Our server checked with us right away and took our drink orders. She got wine and I got a margarita. As our drinks arrived, he took our orders. My wife got the ribeye and baked potato while I got the special (1/2 rack of ribs). Our salad arrived in 3 mins and dinner in another 6 mins. The steak was cooked perfectly. My ribs were saucy, tangy and hot. Each entrée came with a small salad bowl (replacing the salad bar, due to Covid), a bowl of cowboy beans and sliced brown bread with butter. The cowboy beans changed from our last visit. They were a big improvement: tender and much more savory. I actually took home the leftovers, which I'd never done before. On Friday nights they have a cowboy-musician on their small stage. It wasn't completely irritating (I can't stand country music), so overall, a good night. The whole meal came to $79.82 plus tip. If you've never come up the 19th Avenue hill, definitely make the trip. If you haven't been there in a while, definitely make the trip. read more

We ordered a 24oz Porterhouse steak medium rare, it came out medium around the outside and rare in the middle. Their streaks come with salad, cowboy beans, and honey wheat bread. Where to start with these sides; the salad was a standard house salad that tasted like my great grandma use to force me to eat as a kind during Thanksgiving, the beans looked and tasted how your mind imagines prison slop to taste, and the bread... literally opened from a plastic bag and flopped in a basket. We also order baked potatoes and asked for cheese and green onions with it, "we don't do that here". Okay well these baked potatoes must be seasoned well you might think. Wrong. These were dry and tasteless. Hopefully Drinks might save the day, still wrong. Their Dr. Pepper and Coke were so flat I questioned if they had ever replaced the carbonation in the back. This place was not what I expected, I ordered the filet minion and got a ball of meat that wasn't even cooked properly. I ordered medium well, what I actually got was rare in the middle to medium well at the ends. My wife got a baked potato with nothing on it, nor was it offered. She also got 10oz Sirloin Steak that was supposed to be medium well, it was well done and dry. The sides that comes with the meal was kind of odd. The bread seemed store bought, they give you a bowl of beans to share with the table, and the salad was in a very small bowl. The server did some what ok, although I think he gets distracted easily since he asked if we wanted to see the desert menu and went into talking about movies.
