We ordered a 24oz Porterhouse steak medium rare, it came out medium around the outside and rare in the middle. Their streaks come with salad, cowboy beans, and honey wheat bread. Where to start with these sides; the salad was a standard house salad that tasted like my great grandma use to force me to eat as a kind during Thanksgiving, the beans looked and tasted how your mind imagines prison slop to taste, and the bread... literally opened from a plastic bag and flopped in a basket. We also order baked potatoes and asked for cheese and green onions with it, "we don't do that here". Okay well these baked potatoes must be seasoned well you might think. Wrong. These were dry and tasteless. Hopefully Drinks might save the day, still wrong. Their Dr. Pepper and Coke were so flat I questioned if they had ever replaced the carbonation in the back. From someone who has spent most of their life in Arizona, this would s a true Arizona steakhouse! From the checkerboard tablecloths over wooden picnic tables, to mesquite grilled meats, to family style beans on the table with every meal, it just doesn't get any more Arizona. Met with a friend for dinner and TBone Steakhouse was the place we picked. I have not been to TBone in 10+ plus years, but I knew it was a casual steak house with great views of downtown Phoenix. Arrived around 5:30pm on a Sunday and was seated right away. I knew what I wanted from the get-go, the Filet Mignon. All dinners come with a thick slice of honey wheat bread, salad and cowboy beans; you could add different sides if you like. I went old school on my salad and had thousand island dressing and let me tell you, this was delish! The salad was your normal iceberg lettuce salad with tomatoes and thick slice of cucumber and with the thousand island I felt like a young kid again haha. The Filet Mignon was a perfect medium rare steak and was seasoned and cooked perfectly and very tender. Our server asked if we wanted to ruin our steak with steak sauce, which I thought was funny and took him up on that because sometimes you just want the tanginess of that A1 sauce. This was a great dinner, TBone Steakhouse has been serving steaks to the valley for years and I feel an overlooked steak house, its not fancy or frilly, but what it does do is serve up some great steaks! This place was not what I expected, I ordered the filet minion and got a ball of meat that wasn't even cooked properly. I ordered medium well, what I actually got was rare in the middle to medium well at the ends. My wife got a baked potato with nothing on it, nor was it offered. She also got 10oz Sirloin Steak that was supposed to be medium well, it was well done and dry. The sides that comes with the meal was kind of odd. The bread seemed store bought, they give you a bowl of beans to share with the table, and the salad was in a very small bowl. Great dinner tonight. Had the 14 oz New York strip and it was excellent I'd show you a picture but well I ate it too fast. Western look and beautiful views of The Valley. Friendly and courteous service, perfectly grilled steak. The best part was the steak tasted like steak should, not to heavily spiced or extra salty.. It really let the the flavor of the beef comes through. Ranch beans and a garden salad with ranch complement the meal. If you've never been here you have to come if nothing else just to see the beautiful views but the food's pretty good too. It's halfway up South Mountain on 19th Avenue. If you plan in advance you can even ride a horse up from the stables below. If you have guests in from out of town, this is a real Arizona experience. This restaurant is located on the side of South Mountain. It once was a private residence. Built in the 1920s out of river rock and adobe, the building was turned into a restaurant in the 1940s, catering to local ranchers and farmers. It is very cool driving to the restaurant and seeing a bunch of homes then you spot the steakhouse. The location is small but intimate. You sit at picnic benches. It is a very family affair style eating. The steaks are a little pricey but they offer many options. The steaks come with salad, beans and bread. The beans and bread are shared among the table. If you want extra sides there is an additional cost. They do offer a small kids menu. Live music was offered which was very nice. The view is very pretty as well. I went with the T-bone steak. It did come out hot and tasty. It was cooked correctly with the right temperature. They do offer ribs. You need to ask as the ribs are not posted on the menu. For parties of 8 or more 18% is added to the check. This is a fun place to come with a group. I recommend coming right when they open. read more

I had multiple people recommend this place for a Friday night dinner. Good steaks and good music. Well my experience provided neither. I ordered a ribeye medium rare. It was under cooked and incredibly tough. My date ordered a New York also medium rare. Hers was also under cooked. I'm pretty sure they switched our steaks when they bought them to the table. And all while watching a gorgeous setting sun followed by the twinkling of lights coming on across the valley equals a perfect evening! This place is the best. The building was built in the 1920's and takes you back to the old west. The views back to the city are awesome! Casual but a don't be fooled, the menu is incredible. All their meat is cooked on an open mesquite grill. I had never had a prime sirloin center cut. It was 3" thick and cooked to perfection (medium rare for me). We were a group of four and the others got Ribeye and Filets. They keep it simple but wow was it good! Not over priced either. You get an entree, salad, bread, and homemade campfire beans (my 12oz steak $42). They have other ale cart sides like potatoes if you want. The staff was wonderful and especially RAY!!!!! I dont know if this is normal here, given the reviews all say the same thing, i hope not, but the ribeye came out rare at best and and all of the steaks came out with 0 seasoning. When we asked our waitress about it she said the cooking staff is inconsistent, and disappeared for 45 minutes before bringing us our check. The view was very nice, but I cant justify a $40 12oz steak if it is under cooked, under-seasoned, and un rested. TLDR: Paid $180 for 4 plates of under seasoned dog food. read more

You get to experience wood fired food we had the 14 Oz New York Strip and 1/4 chicken and 6 oz steak, both were good, was a little disappointed with the sides, they're $4 for a ice cream scoop serving, but underthey are good we had the red skin mashed potatoes. It was very busy but we expected the same so we sat at the bar.....big mistake as Lean G, was not ready to host us at the time, he had to many other things going on to even pay attention to us. The Bay Breeze he made tasted like sweet and sour and Cranberry juice only and my $8 Long Island Ice Tea was the same, thisbis not a place to get fmdrinks as most of them come from eell alcohol was a good mixture. I asked for medium rare and they delivered. It looked good. But, it didn't taste good. Decided to just keep digging in, but I should've just sent it back. It didn't have any good flavor. I've never had a medium rare steak that was so chewy. The beans they brought us were cold. I sent those back, they brought me another bowl but they were still cold. I've had the ribs here before and the other food isn't too bad. But definitely won't ever get another steak here again. The good and the bad. First the good. Views and big steaks. This is a wonderful location to take in the city lights and feel like you are out in the country. They have a nice outside area but haven't seen it in use. For me, they have been 2 for 2 in good steaks. Both times I have ordered the 40oz porterhouse ordered medium rare. It is a big steak so you get a couple rare spots but that doesn't bother me. Comes with a nice salad and beans with bread. The bread is awesome and the salad is nice little simple salad. So far baked and mashed potatoes haven't been that good or worth the add on. The bad. The rest of the party not as lucky. Neice ordered well done and got a nice medium rare. She wouldn't eat it but didn't want to complain for reasons we will get to. Wife and in-laws also got rare when ordering medium. Service has been pretty poor on both visits. Our server was trying but it's a lack of organization and a management issue. There are three ladies standing at the front check in. They don't seem to do a whole lot. They will take your name and show you to a table but that appears to be the end of there official duties. Thankfully, one did come over and get our salad orders because the server was behind. I will skip the part about being in a wheel chair and then trying to seat me in areas where I had to go up and down steps. Twice But once seated about 15 minutes went by before we finally asked for menus and some water. Then we were told they were moving us. I was thankful to be moved but would have been better to wait to seat us. After that, service was decent and like I said, he was really trying. In the end $122 for two steaks and 2 beers, one was great and one was very rare. For this price point I think you could go to many of the higher end places.
