This is an outstanding place. Small but mighty in food and service in a very intimate setting. Everything was top notch and tasted fantastic!

What a beautiful evening with a master of detail Chef Michael Fuller. The scallops and Wagyu beef dishes were delicious and flawless. Thank you for making a great birthday dinner memorable. We will be back.

The chocolate Godiva cheesecake ended the meal and put us in a food coma!!! I can't wait to come back!! No wonder it was so busy and did so much take out - we understand why!!!

In the past, we've had the fish tacos and really enjoyed those as well. The restaurant has a fun Vermont atmosphere, and the bar area and visible pizza oven add a lot to the ambience. My only drawback is the seating. Much of it consists of long, shared tables, which isn't our favorite setup and can make the dining experience feel a little less comfortable or intimate. That said, the food keeps us coming back. There aren't a lot of tables, so I'd definitely recommend making a reservation, especially at a busy time. Great spot for pizza, drinks, and casual food when you're in the Newfane area!

Reviewed by Frog E. Green, Local Insect Control Specialist…read more As a longtime resident of the landscaping district immediately outside Hope & Olive, I've sampled many dining establishments in the area. Most offer mediocre lighting, poor insect traffic, and zero ambiance. Hope & Olive, however, continues to set the gold standard for frog fine dining. I arrived yesterday evening and secured a prime outdoor window-side table (vertical seating available for amphibian guests). The view was excellent, featuring lush greenery, attentive human patrons, and a climate-controlled observation deck. The appetizer selection was promising. Several small flying items passed through the area, but I decided to hold out for something more substantial. Excellent decision. Approximately midway through service, an enormous grasshopper practically launched itself onto a decorative hanging orb provided by management. I was immediately impressed by Hope & Olive's commitment to fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The entrée did put up a bit of a struggle. However, after a brief period of strategic positioning, professional stalking, and one lightning-fast procurement maneuver, I was able to enjoy the entire grasshopper. Portions are very generous. In fact, the meal was nearly as long as I am. Service was outstanding. The nearby humans appeared fascinated by my dining experience and refrained from interrupting me while I consumed an insect roughly the size of a canoe. After dinner, comfortably stuffed, I retired to the interior of the decorative orb for what can only be described as a food coma. It served as an excellent after-dinner lounge. As for the human food, judging from the smiles, laughter, and complete lack of attempts to steal my grasshopper, it appeared to be quite good as well. Pros: Farm-to-frog dining Excellent grasshopper acquisition opportunities Beautiful garden views Comfortable post-meal napping accommodations Curious but respectful human audience Cons: Grasshopper only appears once per evening Difficult to fit into your mouth, but that's a "me" problem Would hop here again. Frog E. Green Chief Executive Amphibian Western Massachusetts Branch of Pest Control & Consumption "Come for the atmosphere. Stay because you're too full to move."

Very dated on the inside but I think that's supposed to be part of it's "charm". We were one of maybe four parties (all less than 3 people in each) and the server, who was a semi-nice older woman, seemed SO lost and overwhelmed for the place not being busy. Very frazzled and it took a while to get drink refills and the additional sauce we had originally ordered with our meal. The menu isn't vast, so don't go in expecting to try something new. We opted for the Vermont burger, and the Double Smash burger. They were....eh. Nothing to write home about. Being known for their fresh ingredients (according to google) I would have to disagree. Everything seemed pretty standard..frozen fries/frozen patties etc. Maybe I am wrong but that's how it had tasted.
