The one thing we order and get most excited about when getting chinese- egg rolls. BUT THEY FORGOT THEM. I'll need to go back and see if they'll refund that part of our order (we ordered to-go) or give me the 2 egg rolls. Other than though, we ordered 2 of the lunch specials. One orange chicken with wonton soup, a peppered steak with egg drop, both with steamed white rice and an order or pan fried pork dumplings. I actually loved my peppered steak! One of faves from quick Chinese places, I'd definitely get it again. Orange chicken was also very yummy and the 2 soups were good and tasted as expected. The pork dumplings are definitely different than other places I've tried them at. It was more of packed and rolled pork (so darker in color) compared to other places seemingly having more than just pork in it. I didn't hate the taste and they werent bad by any means. I was hungry and ate them, but I won't be getting them again since I wasn't that impressed. We came in to order and were greeted right away, food came out in less than 15 minutes. Was really disappointed with my food considering this place was rated 4 stars. General tso chicken and the green beans were pretty good. The pork fried rice... there's no way that meat originated from a pig. It was soft and chewy. This used to be my favorite place for Chinese in the local area but something has changed since they reopened . I had my favorite hot and sour soup and it was a bland edition of something boiled . I had to add tons of salt and pepper and had to ask for the crispy noodles . Then I ordered the cashew chicken on the lunch menu and I got a great chicken dish with no cashews !!!! It tasted great but I want to be served what I asked for. This is weird and I guess I'll need to find another restaurant in the area to get my Chinese fix . I used to love this place . There were 3 tables and 9 people. The two wait staff seemed confused. One took my order and another tried to give my food to someone else. But thats minor. What was really uncomgortable was lack of a/c. It was hot in there!!! Uncomfortable to eat in. For that reason i wont go back and i give 2 stars. The girl at the front was very nice and patient while we looked at the menu to figure out what we wanted to try . We waited inside and it came out very quick and hot . We even went grocery shopping and a quick trip to whataburger for the kids and it was still warm when we got home . So it was perfect . I have the Mongolian beef with rice . This small restaurant has a lot of charm. From the friendly staff to the huge amount of choices, I can see why so many people are fans of this place. I feel as though the pricing could be better, but must admit that they do have decent portion sizes. All in all though, the taste is not all that, but doable food none the less. I ordered the full combination rice. That comes with beef, chicken, pork and shrimp. I must start off by saying that this is the best combination rice I have tasted in the Houston Metropolitan area. Truly, if they would simply add more shrimp in the mix, I would be 100% satisfied with them. The sweet and sour chicken did not fare as well. Nothing stood out to me with the chicken. Neither unique breading found nor any unique seasoning found to give this dish a true push. I was most disappointed with the red sauce that is the saving grace of the dish. The flavor was not prominent, nor was it viscous enough to my liking. I want the sauce to slightly coat the chicken, not just flow across my plate to other dishes. The General Tso chicken was a tad bit more flavorful than the sweet and sour chicken, but still was nothing to write home about. All in all, if you want friendly and reliable service, this place definitely provides that. The menu is so extensive to whereas I am certain that they surely would have something else that is tasty as the combination rice. So to be honest I came here once before and it was great but there's another Chinese place across the street and it happens to be next to a Cuban joint that I love and has huge pictures of the meals on the wall, so I haven't been back here until today. It turns out the minimum delivery total of 10$ is all it took, since the other place, china express, is minimum 15$. Just wanted something simple so I figured what the hey, good enough. Egg drop soup for my wife who says it's good, and I tried their beef fried rice and am going to town on it, wow it has so much flavor and I can't believe I haven't given them another chance b4. Delivery was said to be 45 mins but it was 10, so I was pleasantly surprised when the door bell rang. Friendly delivery dude and I will 4sure be back!! Okay back the next day: Yesterday was so good I've been thinking about it and back for more! I came in instead of delivery this time, I actually realized it's free delivery anyway!! That's pretty cool. Obviously tip well but it's just nice to see they trust the customer to tip vs mandatory delivery fee. While I've been here it's hopping! Lots of people in the restaurant for a late lunch and people have been calling nonstop while I wait for them to make my food. The interior decor is certainly nicer than the china express across the street, and the staff here today have been very nice to me and I hear the way they talk to the other people in here and on the phone and they are just as nice to them. But every now and again I'll get a taste for general tso's or sweet & sour chicken...today it was the latter. T Jins is about 20 minutes from my job so it's really a trek for lunch but I went anyway. They have a very affordable lunch menu...most hovering closer to $6 for a cup of soup or egg roll and an entree. I ordered the hot and sour soup with the fried thingys (I guess you have to ask for them because he didn't automatically bring them with the soup). It was pretty tasty but I was disappointed it did not contain any mushrooms or tofu. I decided to go with the sweet & sour chicken and it was just like I remembered. Nothing special just unseasoned fried dough and chicken with a red dipping sauce. Comes with white or fried rice, I chose fried and trust me it's nothing spectacular. It is only rice, no veggies or egg....very plain! I didn't even eat most of it. The guy serving me was super duper friendly and that's why I've knocked them up a star. I'm not likely to return because of the location but if you're nearby, I don't think you can go wrong ordering from here when you need your Amer-Chin fix....
