I tried a new dish today called Szechuan chicken. First thing I noticed is it is a red sauce based dish. Most of the dishes I get tend to be brown sauce based but this one was totally amazing and will probably be my new favorite dish. I should have known that this was catered more towards non-Asians. Located right next to a Starbucks this restaurant is hardly noticeable. The interior was clean and the service was great, but the food was just not it for me. The sweet and sour pork reminded me of eating funnel cakes as the batter was overwhelming and the oil was oozing out in every bite. The sauce was rather runnier than what I'm used to from other Authentic Chinese restaurants. The flat rice beef noodles was rather saltier than I would like and therefore lacking balance of the flavor I enjoyed from other Chinese restaurants. I definitely wouldn't come back because the food is not to my liking. Maybe you guys will enjoy other stuff from there menu, so don't let me discourage you from trying. Felt a little under the weather so decided to order some egg drop soup and Yelp had this place listed. I placed an online order and it was really simple, I'm a feen for crab rangoons so I added that to my order as well. They provided wonton strips for my soup and they were so yummy! I'm not a fan of SS sauce but it was really good with my rangoons. They called me to let me know my order was ready within 10 mins when the website said 35 mins on a Sunday so I was happy. This is the kind of Chinese food I remember eating when I was a kid. The chicken and vegetables had a mild brown sauce and was loaded with savory chicken, snow peas, and crunchy water chestnuts. Next time, I won't pay the upgrade (only $1) for fried rice because I think it would taste just as good with white rice. The fried rice was a bit bland and didn't have any bits of egg or veggies in it. The chicken egg rolls were solid; I always favor the packs of orange sauce over the bright red stuff, and fortunately they included some. Will definitely order from them again. read more

They got new owners. I asked and they confirmed. The associates aren't really friendly-Not really welcoming. I ordered to go kung pao chicken which is at least 15 dollars and the container had more sauce and peanuts than chicken. I have noticed they are getting really stingy with their food and it's so sad. We've been going to this restaurant for many years. It used to be excellent. However, it apparently changed ownership within the past two years and it has not been the same. Without a doubt, this is the nastiest restaurant in Katy. The tops of ALL the hot sauce bottles on the tables have black mold visible. The soy sauce bottles are sticky. The salt and pepper shakers are also nasty. The windows next to the booths and tables look like the glass dividers in a pet shop that puppies lick and paw when greeting prospective owners. We got water to drink that came out without any ice, which allowed us to see how dirty the glasses were with old smudges and fingerprints that were not ours. The bathrooms smell and the door knobs are soiled. Most of time the food is OK, but I have had sweet/sour pork, half of which was obviously re fried. Most recently, the egg drop soup smelled terrible and tasted so bad, I couldn't/wouldn't eat it. One wonders what the kitchen must look like! We were the only diners in this place at prime lunch time. However, they did have several "to go" orders while we were there. If you dine in here and have a decent experience, please post a review. Very disappointed. My husband has been coming here for years and loves it. Today we went and my food was cold. I normally do not complain but I had to say something. They took it back and heated it up assuming in a microwave. They brought it back out and the top was warm and everything under was still cold. This was my first time ordering from Green Garden. I ordered the Shrimp Szechuan it was SOOOO GOOD! It was very flavorful and spicy. I love my food spicy so I also ordered hot oil chili sauce which was also very good. The entree comes with white rice but you can upgrade to fried rice which was pretty basic but still good. Wow!! Unacceptable!!! Well to start off the company doesn't permit door dash. I ordered from their recommended site. Go figure!! So they called to get payment and confirmed that they were going to deliver to said address. Lo and behold.... I called and asked where was the food about 30 minutes after promised time. They said... oh your order was for pick up! I said no! I wanted fresh food... guess not because items that I ordered were chewy and soggy once they finally delivered. Nice staff readily explains the ingredients in each dish where some other restaurants exhibit frustration with us English only folks lol! Never ever failing to deliver fresh ingredients when we order from home, I expected nothing less when dining in. We were not disappointed! The kind staff let us know, in advance, that the menu item my husband ordered would take an extra 10-12 minutes longer than average because it is made completely fresh to order and not premade. I can honestly say I won't return to this restaurant. Small strip center restaurant with a flat screen tv & it was clean. The waitress was friendly even though she went in & out the restaurant constantly with no trip to the sink upon return. I ordered the free tea that accompanies lunch entrees, general tso's chicken, and hot & sour soup. Let me just say, the general would not be proud. It was soft, sauteed/stir fry tasting and the "spicy" was in the form of jalapeños which was strange. Looked like white meat so that's a plus but that was negated by the fact that it didn't taste good. The portion size was adequate but indeed smaller than you'd normally get at chinese flair. The soup was good as well as the fried wontons that accompanied it. Normally after a lackluster meal I'd return and try another dish but while I was waiting for my entree, one of the cooks came out the kitchen and engaged the ladies in conversation. He was dirty looking, playing with his phone, wiping sweat off his head and later had the nerve to be picking his nose. Talk about gross. I felt bad for the guy who called in a $65 order when he went in the kitchen to cook it. He returned to the stove toooooo quick, I don't think any soap and water was involved. Yuck! read more

I've dined at and ordered from Green Garden ever since I moved to Katy in 2009. The staff is always extremely friendly, and the food is pretty good for Chinese takeout. Delivery is quite prompt; even when they tell me it will be at least an hour for delivery, I rarely have waited more than half an hour. The crab rangoon is some of the best I've ever had, and the shrimp spring rolls are incredibly large. I usually order the combo lo mein with beef and shrimp only, and it's always filled with beef. There is never very much shrimp, but it's good nonetheless. As far as Chinese delivery in the area, Green Garden is one of the best. read more
