I visited Russell Cellular in the Village of Oak Creek and spoke with the store manager, Allen. I…read morebelieve it was Friday, 11-14-2025. My intent was to inquire about the Galaxy A36 5G. Alan did not have that model in stock but did have the Galaxy S25 on display. I explained to him that the model I have is old with only 128 Gb of storage. He gave me a quote for the S25 including a trade in with my Galaxy J7V which I stated I was happy with except I need something with more storage capability. I believe after I told him I did not want to spend that much he confused the heck out of me when he referred to a grey box device and after looking up my address stated that my address now qualifies for service but it may be a limited time. He stated he would not charge me for the activation fee since I mentioned earlier that I had a disappointing experience with Verizon when I purchased the Galaxy J7V. He never once mentioned that the grey box device was for 5G Home Internet and never once mentioned the cost of the service. I never mentioned anything about wanting or needing or interested in replacing my home internet. I am not tech savy at all and sat there extremely confused thinking the grey box would be used to activate my phone should I purchase a new one. I understand a sim card is used to activate a new phone so in my confusion I thought the grey box was something new and somehow connected with setting up a 5G phone. He even mentioned I should take the grey box and if I find the Galaxy A36 5G which I initially came in looking for I would be all set. When I got home I started researching what the grey box was and finally discovered it is a modem for 5G home internet. At that point I felt he was trying to deceive me into signing up for 5G home internet. I called his store twice leaving a voice mail message explaining who I was and I had some questions. He never returned my calls. Now I understand why during the time I was there no other customers came in and the store had a limited display. Since that experience I have noticed a lot of advertising for 5G home internet. Are dealers tasked with selling a specific number of 5G home Internet and that is why his communications were not transparent or is he simply desperate for sales? When I mentioned to him what my monthly service fee for my Galaxy J7V he stated I was being screwed. Now that I have had two bad experiences with Verizon I will think about switching carriers. I also feel the need to write to Verizon corporate about my experience. I also might ad during my visit he mentioned a few time his first concern is providing good customer service. How laughable is that?

I tried going to the Verizon Store in West Sedona. But when I went in there, I was not greeted right away. When the young man asked what he could do for me. When I explained that I needed to transfer the data from old to new. Be told me that it would be $40 fee. I explained that I've been a customer of Verizon for many years. He just took a deep breath and sarcastically said he was sorry. Imagine my surprise when I went to the Verizon Store in the Village of Oak Creek. A sharp, dressed man stood up and greeted me right away with a smile. I explained what experience i had in the other store. He assured me that he would take care of it. I was hesitant. But Allen proved to be sharp minded and sorted it within about 15 minutes. The bear part was he didn't charge me. When I offered to tip him some cash. He smiled and thanked me and refused the tip, and asked for a review of my experience instead.

They failed to properly install the water-resistant seal around the screen. A couple of drops of water from the sink later and the screen fried again. They charged me another $180 to "fix" it. A month earlier I brought in a laptop. They charged me $50 just to remove about 10 tiny screws on the back, then told me they couldn't do anything because the motherboard was secured by melting plastic to hold it in place during assembly, making it impossible to work on. So $50 for nothing. They also tried to charge me for data recovery. The SSD that held the data was easily removable through a door that takes one screw to remove. After the laptop disappointment I still hoped they'd take care of the second screen properly. The second screen they installed is faulty: it scrolls on its own without me touching it, and the problem has gotten worse since I got it back. Face ID also stopped working after the second repair (it had worked after the first one). They overcharge for parts, invent expensive services for things you can do yourself, and deliver shoddy work. I've paid them roughly $400 total for substandard repairs and zero accountability. Do not take your devices here. I'm telling everyone I know to stay away. I hope they find another line of work.

When I first walked in, Mike immediately discovered that my charging cord was damaged and recommended that I simply replace it, which I did. About a week later, my phone stopped charging through the port again, although it would still charge on the magnetic charger. I was worried that the charging port itself might need to be replaced. I called Nerdy Neighbor, and Mike told me to come in when he was working because he already knew the history of my phone. He also asked me to bring everything I normally use to charge it, including my charging stand. When I came back, Mike quickly discovered another tiny rock lodged inside my charging port! He removed it immediately, got everything working again, and didn't charge me a dime. I truly appreciate Mike's honesty, knowledge, and excellent customer service. Another thing I really like about Nerdy Neighbor is that if they can't answer when you call, they return your call within just a minute or two. I'm so glad I found Nerdy Neighbor in beautiful historic downtown Prescott. I highly recommend them!

Two hours later (as I was told) I was out the door. Excellent service, priced right and they were quite professional. As for the negative comments about this business, I think a couple people were a little fussy when they wrote their reviews. Nerdy Neighbors are running a business, not a free diagnostic clinic. Thanks Mike!
