We were finishing out 24 hours in the quaint, quirky town of Astoria, after enjoying some amazing restaurants and all I wanted was a salad. We had managed to eat seafood at every meal and when I saw that T Paul's Supper Club had a Louie salad on the menu (I'm a sucker for a good Louie) we were in! I'm not totally sure of the vibe they're going for and, to be fair I've only been inside one supper club and it was in Las Vegas, so maybe not a fair comparison. We accidentally walked into the bar section, which seemed like a tiki bar. We were sat in the restaurant, which was decorated with an amateurish mish mosh of seemingly random items. I didn't see a stage, but maybe there was a place for a performer. We were there for lunch. The many is extensive, but also don't seem special. Lots of tiki type drinks and many menu items you'd expect. We ordered the calamari to share, on the recommendation of the server. It was pretty good. We also ordered the Louie Louie to share, which actually isn't on the lunch menu but they kindly agreed to make it for us. I should have been alerted when the server asked what kind of dressing we wanted. She listed several, not including thousand island. I responded, "I think a Louie traditionally has thousand island, do you have that?" She did. The salad had many of the elements, most importantly a good sized amount of lump crab meat. That part was good! The other elements were meh. I would have liked avocado. And I think if you're doing a $30 Louie, you need a special dressing. There were maybe 8 bacon bits. Just not a flavorful Louie. Maybe they do other things well, but I won't be back. read more

Bruschetta was fantastic!! The coco peach cocktail was so tasty and the service was great! We were seated in the bar area with a party of 9. Hubby had the crab and shrimp cakes special and I had the prime rib special with bourbon shrimp that came with a salad. I'm allergic to Rosemary and I didn't realize until a bite or two into the prime rib that it was heavily flavored with rosemary. My hubby had a nice prime rib breakfast the next morning. His crab cakes were tasty and the table overall had a very enjoyable time with great food and drinks. read more

A family member shared with us a listing for this place and we tried it out on the way to the Long Beach peninsula. Did bro realize we had walked by it several times when taking in the Astoria Farmers Market. We were able to get a table for 2 although it was 6 o'clock on a Friday night. Drink order was taken - along with appetizer & main meal right away. Service was great (even had live music) and food tasted amazing! It was a little pricy but hands down the best food we have Warren in Astoria that showed they cared & used top ingredients for their dishes (shoutout Tillamook cheese). We will be back to try more off the menu and highly recommend you do as well read more

Get the french dip, get the Make It Dirty dipping sauce (it's got whiskey) or whatever turns you on. The meat is their own slow-roasted prime rib and it shows: tender and flavorful, great bun, melted cheese. The salmon dish, on the other hand, was average. Not a whole lot of flavor, overcooked fish (as usual), blah veggies. Only thing that stood out was the side salad, with a really great dressing. read more

Delicious food, great service, and beautiful decor inside. We came in on a Saturday just as their dinner time was starting up. Ordered their Bourbon Prawn Penne and it was perfect. It was also served with a side of salad topped with mango vinaigrette (mmmm chefs kiss). Ended with a Basque Cheesecake, delicate and sweetness was perfectly balanced with the caramel and raspberry drizzle. Service was prompt and friendly. Ambiance was cozy and enhanced by the gentleman playing his hammered dulcimer. Would love to come back here again and try their other dishes! read more

Out first time here, really cozy cute space, although a little chilly. Hailey was great, the other gal with the long dark brown hair... Zero personality. . The Supper Club has been a long time favorite. You usually get good eats here. For a brief moment the quality seemed to have been taking a nose dive, but the last two times I went, it seemed as if they were back on their game. This time I chose the Halibut Fish and Chip Special. The fried halibut was nice and crispy. Possibly a touch too dark, but still tasty. Their sweet potato fries were plentiful and flavorful. My husband chose the Crab Mac 'n Cheese. He said it was "just ok", and would probably never order it again. It was less crabby than he expected and the portion was just not enough for him. It wasn't his favorite. Blackened shrimp tacos and a salad (can't remember which salad, tho) were also ordered and both people heartedly enjoyed their choices. The Supper Club does make great salads and their burgers are also outstanding. The raspberry rhubarb crisp was delicious. The chocolate cake was kind of dry and disappointing, because it looked beautiful. Unfortunately, it tasted stale and dry. Came here on a a Weds evening which is their steak night. Got the $25 special which came with a top sirloin steak, mashed potatoes and broccolini as well as bourbon shrimp. The highlight was the bourbon shrimp. Mashed potatoes could have had more butter and cream. I really liked my friends linguine with garlic Alfredo sauce and bay shrimps. We've passed by Supper Club many times without considering it--after all, there are plenty of outstanding brewpubs nearby. But after some friends encouraged us to give it a try, we're so glad we did! There was a small hiccup with our reservation--our table was given to walk-ins who arrived just before us, and the host didn't realize we had a reservation. However, the short 15-minute wait at the bar turned into a pleasant experience thanks to a wonderful bartender and a well-made drink. Once seated, the service was excellent, and the food was delightful. I enjoyed a perfectly prepared steak salad, while my husband savored rich, creamy crab mac and cheese along with a generous plate of bruschetta topped with vibrant, fresh basil. The food was excellent, the service and ambience were impeccable and if I weren't polite, I'd have licked my plate. As it was I cleaned it .. even the veggies were amazing... My wife and I were staying across the street at the Hotel Elliott for our 30th wedding Anniversary, so we had spent the day looking for a really nice place to celebrate at with a nice atmosphere as well as great food. It was a Tuesday and half the upscale restaurants in Astoria were closed. We had noticed that this restaurant was busy for lunch which is always a good sign. I reviewed the menu, talked to the friendly wait staff, and made reservations for 6:30PM. We were seated at the window right next to an old guy playing guitar and singing. He would have been seated at out table had he been turned toward us so we put our backs to the window. Several times I made uncomfortable eye contact with him, so we tipped his almost empty jar. There was only one small child in the restaurant, ten feet away, and he made his presence known. The dinner salads were small, but pretty and tasty. We were famished tourists, but were unable to finish them before our dinners arrived. We ordered wine, which we liked, but only received four ounces instead of the standard five. I guess the bartender doesn't care about those tips on the dining side. I ordered the Voodoo pasta, which were clams and bay shrimp in a white sauce, and my wife ordered the other linguine dish which included an ounce of salmon. I immediately mentioned the lack of linguine noodles in my dish as soon as the waitress served it. The young, obviously pregnant, waitress's eyes got wide and she quickly dissappeard. I thought she went to get more noodles. There literally were no noodles to be seen above the surface of a very thin white sauce, and these were the typical very wide brimmed, but shallow bowls. There was by weight, only two ounces of linguine noodles, or by count less than ten strands. The taste was bland, no stock, no powder, no wine, just half-and-half, garnished with a tiny amount of butter, a sprinkling of fresh parmesian, and a huge sprig of thyme. I desperately tried to mix my foliage into the soup to give it some flavour. I was famished, but I still left a few ounces of white "sauce" floating in the bowl because there wasn't even bread to sop it up with. My wife let me try her dish and it was better, but the salmon was dry, common for fish that has been either been previously cooked, ordered last week, or had been frozen. Not good for a seaside restaurant. The waitress never again asked how we liked our food, only if we wanted dessert. I was still hungry, but my wife was full so we went elsewhere for dessert. I should of had dessert, they really looked good. P.S. Full disclosure I'm a retired cook and baker, so I knew better than to send that dish back to the kitchen! We dropped a C-note there, just dinner and wine. For just a quarter's worth of pasta there would be no review at all. Such is life. read more

I wanted to like our visit to T Paul's better than I did, but I wasn't blown away. We started with the clam chowder and it was just average. It was that thick texture reminiscent of school paste that chowder sometimes gets. The flavor just wasn't there. My husband and I tried the Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese with Pork Belly and the shrimp pasta. The pasta and cheese sauce in the mac & cheese was really good, but the pork belly had an off-taste. The shrimp pasta was just average, and not something I would go out of my way for. I tried the chocolate ganache cake for dessert. The cake was thoroughly lacking in chocolate flavor, and I swear the "ganache" was Hershey's syrup (which I loathe). read more

The three of us had three different pasta dishes. One was the smoked gouda cheese pasta which was rated a four. The second was the pork belly pasta rated a 31/2. I had the clams with linguine and rated it a five. The clam linguine came with a pound of clams and the cream sauce was delicious. I love this restaurant! We went as a family 6 months before my Dad passed away. He loved it (we all did) and so now we must always make a point to eat here when in Astoria lovingly called 'Dad's restaurant'. We always try something new and have never been disappointed. It has something for everyone. The decor is eclectic, the service is always so warm and welcoming. I highly recommend the crab Mac and the lemon lava cake. Was visiting the area and my friend suggested dinner at T Paul's Supper Club. My memory is failing me. I remember the food being much better in the past. Our dinner was average at best. Hubby ordered the Rib Eye steak medium rare. The first steak they served was more medium well than medium rare. We advised our server the steak was overcooked. Her response was would you like me to have them cook another one? Seriously? Yes please...why else would we have brought it to your attention? The second steak was better...a little more on the rare side. However, this steak looked much smaller and not 16 oz as stated on the menu. Hubby also mentioned the steak had not been seasoned so no flavor. I ordered the daily special Halibut alla Checca. Halibut breaded in panko served on a bed of fettuccine with a combination of chopped tomatoes, mushrooms, basil, olive oil and a sprinkle of chili flakes. We came here for dinner. My husband and I got the supper club dip. Advertised as sliced prime rib, caramelized onions, Swiss cheese and mushrooms. The prime rib was delicious, bread good. My onions still had a crunch going through them and were still purple and white. Grilled onions at best, no where near caramelized. My husband mushrooms were white and raw on his sandwich. It kinda ruined the sandwich overall. Onions not caramelized at all. My daughter didn't eat her Mac and cheese I asked her how come, she said it was cold. She said not ice cold but like lukewarm. So pre made Mac and cheese barely warmed. Last and not least, husband got a champagne mule. Clearly made with bottled lime juice. Has a super weird flavor and zero pulp floating in glass. It's not hard to juice a lime. Do better. You guys used to be great. read more

TLDR version below, this is the precis. The food was excellent, the service staff needs training, the wine list is a little short. that being said . . . We visited T Paul's earlier this year (we use Astoria as a getaway when we need to decompress) and had a delightful time. Food was good, service was good, everything hunky dory. We headed back out with TFG, spouse, child, child's partner, for a couple of days and thought, "Hey, long, rainy, interrupted drive, let's go out and indulge ourselves!" We saw the sandwich board when we walked in announcing that if you were in a big ole hurry, you might want to go somewhere else because the restaurant was in the process of reopening and training an entire staff. I was unaware of the closing but appreciated the honesty and willingness to lose a table in order to not disappoint someone. We had called in and gotten on the seating list (no reservations) and were seated within 10 minutes of arriving. We ordered a bottle of wine and three appetizers. Water was on the table. From that point on, the service slowed significantly. We had to flag the waitress down twice in order to get more water and to order entrees so that both could be in process at the same time. The appetizers were delicious! I miss the Boom Sticks from the previous menu, but the artichoke crab dip was unctuous without being over the top and while we ran out of crostini, it was well appreciated. The crispy Brussels Sprouts were equally well-received, not overly doused with Balsamic reduction, just enough actually. The four of us split a Boom Salad which was filled with stuff and yummy, without being remarkable. It was actually a long time between appetizer and entree. I mean a looooong time. I was glad we had made our entree order when we did because any additional time would have begun to eat at my buzz. I had the tenderloin, the woman who lets me live with her (thanks Mike) had the Vampire Slayer burger, child had clams in a ginger lime pasta dish, and partner had the Scanda-hoovian lobster mac-n-cheese. The chowder was quite good, the steak was everything I could have asked for, succulent, tender, cooked as I requested (that last one is important). roasted broccolini and garlic mash were good, but not the main event. Partner oohed and aahed over the steak, but I've eaten excellent steak before. Partner's lobster mac was a surprise. I was afraid of one or the other overwhelming the "junior partner" in the dish but I found that the blend was well-nigh perfect, enough of the sweetness of the lobster (we would have ordered crab) and enough of the succulence of the bechamel to make a point/counterpoint in the mouth. Child's clams were also very good though I can't speak as forcefully as I might because they wouldn't let me have more than a taste! I think that's a good sign. The thing is, the staff is in need of a little training. Floor-sense is an acquired ability, checking the wine and water glasses each and every time you enter or leave the floor would have made us marginally more satisfied, and likely would have resulted in another beverage sale. It marks the difference between someone who delivers food and someone who sells food, because they are tuned into the customer. Awareness of the schedule of the kitchen will also allow the observant wait staff to gauge when to place the various phases of an entire meal. I can't speak to others' observations about the trajectory, or the prices. We were planning on spending too much so that didn't affect us and I've spent more on occasion. On a one-off, we enjoyed our meal very much, the service was slow, the decor was weird and yet somehow pleasing and that's what I know. fix the service and the fifth star is yours read more

Besides the good food, service and very reasonable prices, the ability to talk comfortably to the other dinner guests at our table and not hear the guests of the tables around us, was very nice. We've always loved coming here and will still continue to. This time was a miss. I'm sure it's just a speed bump and I feel people should know that it's unusual. It took 15 minutes to get our orders. Another 30 minutes for two salads to arrive. An entire hour in to the visit for all our dinners. Two orders were wrong, we already waited long enough decided to deal with it. Ordered Mac n cheese with no chicken, came with the chicken. Salad with shrimp, came with chicken. Asked for more salad dressing, she forgot and had to ask again. Hamburgers were dry, cooked too long. Just not a good experience as we normally get. read more

COVID review: We came here around June 2020 and it was very busy. We had called and made a reservation before arrival and still had to wait at least 30 minutes before getting seated. Inside, it was quite packed, I didn't feel that tables were 6 feet apart from each other. This was one of the only places in Astoria where I felt a little uncomfortable to be dining so closely to other people. I ordered the bourbon prawn penne pasta, which was good but very oily. My fiancé ordered their NY pan roast with blackened prawns. The bread that came with his meal was soggy and his meal overall was salty. Overall, we didn't have the best experience here. My first-time visiting Astoria and I was told by a local that this was a good place to dine. We happened to arrive during happy hour and the food was delicious. Coconut crusted shrimp, calamari and oyster shooters. Reasonably priced. The bar is so nice, and the bartender was great. She shared some of her favorite places for us to try. The ambience is comfortable and not stuffy as the name seems to imply. I would love to go back and have a full dinner there. It's not "fancy" and it's not a sport bar. Something just really nice about it. We did stop back in for a cocktail another day. They specialize in martinis. I didn't get photos of my food, but I did of the interior. First time eating here even though we've been to Astoria many times, and will eat here again. The food is kept simple because it's prepared exceptionally well. Don't need to go overboard when cooking with fresh and quality ingredients. Staff was fantastic and attentive. My husband added the clam chowder to his meal, which the kitchen forgot to send out. Not only was it not needed (he was stuffed), but the staff was very apologetic and removed the charge with no issue. In other words, service not about the small error, it is about how you handle it and they were top notch. Overall an excellent experience. Prices were reasonable for what it costs to eat out any more. But, at least if you are going to spend the money, spend it someplace where you will really enjoy the food and experience--like this place. read more

Went here this weekend for my anniversary dinner after a few folks recommended it. Atmosphere is pretty odd. When you walk in it smells like a sushi joint which is fine and they have some kind of live musician playing something like a xylophone but even with that it is still very loud and chatty. Our server was a nice young woman who seemed to know the menu pretty well and didn't try to oversell any one item. We ordered the Brussel Sprout appetizer which came out quickly and as freshly cooked but just didn't have a lot of flavor. For my entree I picked one of the dishes with a star next to it which according to the menu denotes that it's a favorite, the Salmon Romesco. This comes with a salad of your choice and mashed potatoes. I requested the season salad. The salad was fresh and was not overdressed but like the appetizer the flavors were just not there and I'm pretty sure it was a vegan Caesar dressing they were using or at least it didn't contain anchovies which for a true Caesar salad lover is a lust. As for my entree the fish was way overcooked and the romesco did not have the fiery roasted tomato or punch of smoked paprika you would want from a really good romesco sauce so once again I was left wanting more flavor. The mashed potato's were well made and seasoned and enjoyed those the most. My husband got a pesto chicken Mac n cheese. It looked great but he said it was just ok. For dessert I had their basque style cheesecake and it was not my favorite. For some reason it was actually more salty than anything else and the strawberry sauce I requested on top was only a scant amount so there was nothing to cut through this weird salty crustless cheesecake. My husband got the carrot cake and that was pretty good. Lots of walnuts and carrots, good cream cheese frosting and nice moist crumb. I will not try this place again. Warm & cozy atmosphere with an eclectic vibe. Service was friendly, prompt & very attentive. We liked the diversity of the menu with a nice blend of pasta, seafood, sandwiches and meats. I especially enjoyed my tender and tasty prime rib dip with mushrooms and sauteed onions. I mentioned my dairy allergy and there was no problem deleting the cheese and butter from the bun!
