Chicken tenders, Mac and cheese, cheddar biscuit, and sweet potato casserole.

Visited T-Town Cafe for a bite to eat about a week ago. It's solid country cooking. You order at the counter and the food is brought out to you. Other reviewers complained about service taking too long, but they were pretty busy the day we came and still got our food out to us in about 10 minutes. The waitress also noticed that I was given barbeque sauce instead of ranch, and she ran back and grabbed ranch for me without my asking, so points to service there. We both had fried chicken tenders. For sides, we chose French fries, sweet potato casserole, fried okra, and Mac and cheese. I had sweet tea to drink, and it was perfectly southern. The chicken tenders were good enough, maybe a little small. House made ranch made for good dipping. The sweet potato casserole was loaded with spices. Nice and flavorful, but a little too one-note on the texture, like whipped potatoes. The Mac and cheese had an extra sharp cheddar taste. Fried okra was a touch slimy but serviceable. Fries had seasoning on them but were served cold and hard. Lastly, we both had the cheddar biscuit - I'd recommend skipping that. Flavorless and cold. The atmosphere is sort of homestyle, and the restaurant seats a lot of people. It's close to campus, and the food is alright. I wouldn't rave about this place, but it's worth a visit, especially considering the convenience and large variety of choices available.

My girlfriend and I came here for lunch and we were really surprised! You order your food at the register and then they hand you a ticket and bring your food to you when it's ready. I got the burger and fries and it was okay. I could tell that the fries weren't fresh which was a bummer. On the other hand, the burger was pretty good! The bun for the burger was what stood out to me. My girlfriend got the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. She could also tell that the country fried steak wasn't made to order but she still thought it tasted good.

My wife and I stopped here on our way through. We were actually going to another restaurant and passed T Town. It looked very local so we turned, and glad we did. When we first walked in there was a line of locals, all for a company lunch. The cashier waved for us to come around to another line order cashier. My wife got the 4 veggie plate, and me, the pot roast with mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, and home made bread pudding. OMG, it all was very delicious! You could tell that it all was definitely home cooked. We will definitely stop In when we are passing through again.

What a lovely cafe that serves as an ideal balance between a group of friends on a college night or for the family during the day. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. The interior resembles your typical Southern restaurant in Alabama but their selling point is the patio. There's plenty of seating available so don't worry about finding a spot for you and your group. They have many drink specials around all the time so be sure to catch them when they come around. I ordered the pimento cheese and soup combo. The pimento cheese was delicious and lukewarm (not sure if it's supposed to be that way) but I enjoyed it. It helped that the bread reminded me of how my mom used to make a sandwich with even more butter. The chili was good. The price of $7.50 was reasonable for this combination. There are other options including burgers and sandwiches for the boys, and salads and mouth-watering cakes for the girls. It took every ounce of willpower to hold off on the dessert menu but now I kind of want to go back to pick one up...

But spring break week flipped the script in the best way possible. Tonight, my wife and I met up with some good friends for a pre-retirement dinner, and with the college crowd scattered to the beaches, downtown felt like it belonged to us "seasoned locals" again. No lines, no crowds--just a quick call ahead and we were seated within minutes. That alone felt like a win. We started things off with the fried green tomatoes--a true Southern delicacy and, let's be honest, acid reflux's favorite dance partner. Worth it? Absolutely. These were hot, crispy, and full of flavor. The kind of dish that would make Grandma nod in approval. No shortcuts, just done right. For the entrée, I went with the UBK Pasta--blackened chicken, sausage, and shrimp tossed with corkscrew pasta probably crafted in a cast iron skillet. It came out hot and packed with flavor, carrying just the right amount of spice to keep things interesting without overwhelming the dish. Exactly how I like it. My wife stuck with a proven winner: the shrimp & grits. She's had it before, and once again, it delivered. Consistency matters, and this dish continues to hit the mark every time. Now, not everything was quite as smooth. Our waitress wasn't exactly channeling that warm Southern hospitality you hope for. Let's just say she wasn't "Miss Dolly" serving smiles with a side of charm. The service leaned a bit on the impatient side--subtle (and not-so-subtle) hints that our time at the table was up, including clearing drinks before we were even finished. At one point I joked about going to the restroom but worried I might come back to find my chair gone. Still, when the food is this good, it carries the experience. Urban Bar & Kitchen continues to deliver where it matters most--on the plate. The atmosphere was relaxed thanks to spring break timing, the food was as strong as ever, and the company made it even better. As for the service... maybe she was just ready for her own spring break reunion. Happens to the best of us. Final takeaway: Go for the food--it's consistently excellent. And if you can catch a quieter night like this one, even better.

First time at this spot, and my initial impression was positive. I would say, I love, love, love…read morethat they use Big Green Egg's inside the restaurant on the line. If you've never had meat (or VEGGIES!) cooked on a BGE, it will change your life. This fact alone will bring me back to try other things. Before I get into the meal, my only real complaint was that they only had a soda machine and tea. I had brought my mother along, and she already had lunch and wanted just to sit and chat. As it was a very cold day she was gonna order a coffee and they don't offer anything hot! It's definitely an opportunity to expand here even if it was just so simple as putting a Keurig machine in the back. I had the Buffalo Chicken Wrap. It is served with grilled chicken in a grilled wrap and cheddar cheese. If there was a buffalo sauce, I didn't taste any. I was a little disappointed in the wrap. The flavor didn't really stand out as being cooked on the Big Green Egg. The cheese wasn't really melted, which can be a common problem with shredded cheddar cheese, but it also didn't really have the buffalo flavor that I was looking for in a buffalo chicken wrap (maybe it was a Toledo Ohio wrap I don't know just not spicy. ) It served with a side of ranch which I juiced up with some Cholula and that helped. I i'm not knocking the quality of the food because it was good. It just didn't live up to the expectations I had in my head based on the menu description. It also came with a side, which I chose the broccoli salad. This was nicely done with bacon, I believe some quinoa and the broccoli was chopped up nicely so you didn't have huge chunks. Also, it wasn't overly sauced so that would make it runny. Overall I give the property four out five stars. Also, the flavor of the whole meal was fine. Good size portion and good value for your money.

This was perfectly fine with us, we just got to the restaurant earlier than originally planned since dinner wait times for a Saturday here can range from 20-45 minutes. Do not let this deter you though, the food is worth it. Luckily for us, we only waited about 15 minutes for a table for 4. Once seated, our waitress soon followed with menus and a pitcher of water. She was quite lovely and attentive. To start, we ordered their chips and salsa (although I do highly recommend the street corn if you are feeling something different). The salsa is great and tasted fresh! The chips had a nice texture, but definitely needed the salt we added to the bowl. It did not take long for any of our meals to come out once we ordered. I personally got the carnitas tostadas, which were amazing. I could only eat one cause they were piled high with toppings (and I ate too many chips before). The pork had great flavor and paired well with the other toppings. Warning though, the black beans here are great, but on the spicier side! This caught one of us by surprise at the table. Overall it was a great evening, and we were in and out quickly from the meal. Just be prepared to wait a little for dinner, and plan ahead for parking! And watch out for those beans!
