Friendly staff that were quick to greet and offer assistance. I will admit to not liking fish, but being a fan of the Chef, knowing that I wanted to try her food, I was happy with the shrimp burger. I stopped in for lunch. It's a small place with no traditional tables inside, just counter seating and seats along the wall. We were given menus, then told to order at the register. We ended up sitting outside, and when the food was ready, the person who took our order brought it out to us. I had the fish sandwich with fries, and my friend had the fish with potato salad and boiled peanuts. I really liked my fish sandwich. It was served simply on white bread with tartar sauce, and it was messy in the best way. I managed the first few bites as a sandwich, but eventually had to finish it with a fork and knife. The fries were also very good. The potato salad was not really for me. I wanted to like it, but every time I took a bite, I kept thinking there was something about it I didn't like. I think it may have had too much pickle juice. On the other hand, I had never tried boiled peanuts before, so I had nothing to compare them to, but I really enjoyed them. Food was amazing! As soon as we walked in cashier greeted us with a huge friendly smile and offered us menus. There was outdoor seating under umbrellas for about 8 people. We ordered the fried fish sandwich, seafood dip, oysters , greens and twisted fries. The homemade crackers for the dip were rich savory and crisp. They paired perfectly with the seafood dip; radishes and carrots were also provided. Now the dip was a little spicy but worth it. The oysters and fish were seasoned perfectly along with the hush puppies . The greens and fries were also hot and fresh. We loved sitting under the umbrella people watching while eating. We also split the salad which was two big hunks of iceberg with a nice amount of, funky in a good way, dressing with hints of anchovy and dill. And, for $20, I know some people think that it's on the pricey side, but it's a steal for me because I could pay the same price for that at home and get two things, dry, pieces of fish in between regular white bread. This place is one of the best fish restaurants I've eaten in in a long time. It's on the south slope and has a cool vibe. The catfish that is cornmeal battered is absolutely delicious. The flounder fish bites were out of this world. A lot like a English fish and chip. The collard greens were some of the best greens I've had in Asheville. The fries were fabulous and were a thick cut curly tight fry. I'll definitely be going back to this place. The staff are very friendly and we got our meal and just a few minutes. The tartar, cap n crik, and hot sauces were all really good and perfect accompaniment to the fish. My friends had the sides with their fish plates, Mac and cheese and greens. Highly recommend both of these as well. The greens had a little bit of sweet to them but not overly sweet. The Mac and cheese had the right amount of cheese and was baked perfectly. The cashier was very friendly and gave good recommendations. She also threw in a bag of pork rinds-love the hospitality! Small seating area inside with some stools and a nice deck outside. Stopped in here a few weeks ago after dropping my son off at WCU and let me be clear the food and vibe was amazing! I saw Chef Ashleigh on tournament of champions and Bobby Flay triple threat so I had to check out her restaurant. The vibe is really dope with 90s jet magazine decor which was a pleasant surprise because I love the 90s! I had the fish sandwich and the loaded fries very delicious! Chef was in there working and I had a chance to meet her. Hands down she is one of the nicest, friendliest and sweetest celebrities I've ever met and I've met a few.
