Review is a little late, but my bf and I decided to go here after spending the day in Asheville during the holidays. It's such a cute and fun place! We were starving and I really wanted pizza, so I'm glad we found this gem! We each got our own pizza, which was amazing! Great tasting, the dough was nice and crunchy, thick crust, and good amount of toppings! Definitely worth the cost. They had fancy drinks to choose from too. This spot has a great patio and is so fun for kids given all the funky art everywhere. My husband said he had the best calzone of his life here. The plain pizza was plain, yes, and perfect for my kids. My salad was a little less than exciting, so I snagged bites of the aforementioned dishes. I did find the service extremely slow and scattered. But we weren't in a rush, so it was ok. I wouldn't stick around long enough for dessert or anything like that. read more

We love Mellow Mushrooms food! While in our hometown we got the New Nirvana Chicken Dip! It was delicious and we thought it was better than the Pigeon Forge island location! YUMMY CRUST! While it's a chain restaurant, I've always loved the crust at Mellow Mushroom! This location in Asheville did a great job supporting the local community during the aftermath of hurricane Helene. That alone gives it extra stars in my book. I went again recently to support them while they still have a limited menu (due to water supply issues in town) and the pizza was still absolutely delicious!!! I got this again for my father's birthday and this time it was to go. It was a GF Kosmic Karma (consisting of red sauce, feta, basil leaves, sliced tomatoes and a basil pesto swirl) with vegan cheese instead of mozzarella and shaved ribeye. Service and ambiance was appreciated because I didn't have to wait too long for it when I showed up. The flavors worked well together, but the crust was thin and not that crispy, and the cheese in the center was not melted because the toppings were pretty piled up. Don't be tricked into thinking there's a strong mushroom theme to the food, it's just hippy vibes. Service was fine, but man your paying a lot for a rather small pizza. Mellow Mushroom has been on my list for years. It was one of the first pizza places I remembered seeing vegan cheese at, but hadn't been able to try it until now. Mellow Mushroom is always good but I especially love the one in Asheville! I travel a lot and it's always my go to for good takeout! Their pizza keeps really well, is just as delicious when it's reheated, and I love their topping choices! Whether you're enjoying in house or taking to go it won't disappoint. I usually start with their artichoke dip which is creamy, and pairs really well with their herb dusted crostini! My favorite pizza is their holy shiitake which is a white pizza base topped with sautéed mushrooms, a mixture of cheeses and their delicious herb aioli! Get an extra side of this for their crust! Recently I tried their seasonal pizza The Merry Prankster and it may be a new favorite! It was a pesto vase with Italian sausage, grilled chicken, roasted red peppers and various veggies! Such a fun and colorful location! Inside and out everything popped and had vibrance. The hostess who greeted us at the door heard me as I realized there were actual bowling balls used in the decor and she told me the sweetest story about how the owner's late friend owned a bowling alley and once it was sold he used pieces from the bowling alley in the decor of the restaurant in remembrance. Actual service was fast and friendly. The pizza was hot and fresh and I had zero complaints. I am sad all the MM Wu-Tang looking shirts were sold out (even online) but that's just kudos to the marketing team. Started off with a nice Pisgah pale ale. Very good beer! I love it when you get stuff for checking in. This Mellow Mushroom gave free pretzel bites for checking in, and they were so good. We ordered a large Holy Shitaki and were not disappointed. Very good, quality pizza. We sat outside in their beautiful outdoor space. Enjoyed a nice,early evening mountain breeze. We stopped by on a whim. My SIL had never been as shes from Tejas. We ordered a small Buffalo Chicken Pizza with ranch, meatballs, and a caesar small salad. The meatballs were amazing. I loved every moist succulent bite. The pizza crust was buttery and airy with a garlic taste. She likes spice, so we drizzled Texas Pete and honey over it. It was delicious. The Mellow Mushroom in Downtown Asheville is a good place to dine. They have a large outside area to dine and service is great as well despite being short staffed. I ordered a strawberry lemon-limeade. It was a lemonade with strawberry puree and lemon and lime juices. It was delicious and refreshing. I also went with the Great White pizza. It had an olive oil and garlic base instead of tomato sauce then had a variety of cheese and tomatoes on top. I didn't want the onions on mine. read more

First time visiting a Mellow Mushroom restaurant and I felt it was some of the best pizza I've ever had. We ordered a medium half Havana and half Buffalo chicken pizza and I found the Buffalo chicken to be tastier than the Havana. I love pickles however I found that the pickles were not needed on the Havana other than that, I enjoyed it. You must love mustard in order to enjoy this Havana because there is a good drizzle over the slices. If you really enjoy buffalo sauce, I recommend that the chicken be given a good toss or an extra drizzle after it comes out of the oven. read more
