In my mind I'm like wtf is this??? There was another party of 6 seated adjacent to us and shortly after a party of 14 was seated on the other side. (All three parties, ours included, were African American...heavy side eye) Then our server, who didn't speak a lick of English, greeted us. We managed to order drinks and appetizers by pointing things out on the menu for her to comprehend. Upon her arrival with our drinks and appetizers, we inquired about what entrees were good on the menu. Her response was "everything."... like be for real girl! This was your opportunity to sell the place. If someone is asking you what you recommend on the menu you don't say everything; you pick one or two meals from the menu. She and quite a few staff members insisted that it was deducted until my cousin called for the big manager-- It took speaking to 3 managers in total to have things rectified. As we reviewed the check, it became clear that we had been overcharged on multiple items. They also added gratuity to our party of five without ever mentioning it. We have no problem tipping, but adding it without informing your guests is not good hospitality. My family has worked in the restaurant business for years, so I understand mistakes happen. This didn't feel like a simple mistake--it felt like a lack of transparency from start to finish. I wasn't willing to spend our evening arguing with the server or manager and ruin the night for our guests, so we paid and left. That said, as someone who lives locally, I won't be coming back, and I won't be recommending this restaurant to anyone.
