    Coco bread

My god TUHHHDAY!!!! 10/10 no notes. The food was fresh, piping hot and delicious. I ordered the oxtail ragu, coco bread with jerk garlic butter and garlic broccoli. The homemade coco bread?!!!! Yea next level. The broccoli perfectly cooked and yes I could taste the garlic. NOW. The oxtail ragu, I was expecting pappardelle noodles but NOPE! It was served with rigatoni, generous amounts of oxtail, freshly grated cheese and saucy just like I like it. Anthony is a spectacular server!! They have a forever customer out of me now. My friends rant and RAVEEEEE about this place and I see why. The food did take a while and we were the very first customers so we gave grace as we were in no rush but keep that in mind.

Well well well Amazing as always Came here for a girls night ! A party of 5 And a time was HAD Amazing food, that mac and Cheese have to be the best in NYC Everything was tasteful, seasoned and HOT! The place is elegant and beautiful The bathroom was clean and spotless The drinks were strong and mighty The music was everything The service was amazing!!! The host was beautiful and warm The only negative is a that the food and drinks did take a min to come out But!!!! There was only one waitress and she was killing it all by herself lol so big ups to her N there's a RUDE photographer that's goes around offering to take a picture of people but he got into it with one of the ladies, just very distasteful Definitely will be back

Very happy to see they have their liquor license back. We were hoping to catch the Rhum Lounge on Black Friday but it was pretty empty. Despite that the drinks were delicious and glad to see things back up and running. I'd go back on another night not after a major holiday.

Black owned + BYOB! Upscale Caribbean aesthetic. Service was great, Chris was delightful. Drinks: Cucumber coco + Mama Negril The cucumber coco was sooooo refreshing! 10/10! Mama Negril was sweet and tasteful. Food: Jerk wings w Mac & cheese + Jerk rubbed chicken w rice, peas & carrots The wings were falling off the bone! Mac & cheese was a great pair (the crust on top was everything). Jerk chicken was seasoned & cooked to perfection. The roasted carrots upstaged the rice.

I wish I could give this place multiple negative stars for me and my group's experience. I'm currently writing this infront of this unprofessional establishment. To start off, the wait time for food and drinks is horrendous. Once we placed our drink order we waited 40 something minutes for our drinks to come and after our food order we waited an extra 1hr and 30 minutes. The menu isn't big enough or too complex for food to take so long to reach your table. God forbid they send you to the bottom floor. It felt like a club, could not have one conversation without the DJ screaming in your ear. Love the vibes but definitely not If you don't want to leave with a headache. On top of all of this, when the food actually made it to the table we didn't even have utensils and had to ask multiple times for some to be brought. When our check got to our table things had been charged wrong as well. I only saw one server in the whole floor and 1 person bringing out the food. I don't know if this place is trying to save money by hiring less people but maybe they should invest more in how they want to treat their clients. Would not recommend this place to anyone. I wish I could get my money back and the memory of ever entering this restaurant. I would've liked to ask for a manager if I didn't feel like it would've taken another 2 hour for someone to come to our table and actually serve us.

Guess who is back! Well they got their liquor license back. I came here on Mother's Day with my mum, sis, cuz and aunts. For the last several years we have been here for all of our birthdays. It is our favorite place as a family. The food is always a hit and the staff is always friendly and welcoming even though some faces have changed over the years. The decor switches every few years and it is always a beautiful update. As for the food, my mum had the Escoveitch Whole Fish, my sis and aunt had the Curry Goat, my other aunt had the Jerk Shrimp, my cousin had the Tamarind Ribs and I had the Calabash Stew. We also ordered the Sharing Plate for the appetizer and the Ackee and Tostones (no saltfish) for me. 10s across the board and the Rum Punch is better than I remembered.

I love negril village, I've been coming back for several years.it feels like Jamaica when you enter for brunch. Great music, good vibes, and the food here is amazing. I love the seafood platter with lobster, shrimp, and fish, soooo good. I've had plenty of dishes here, the jerk wings are good, not too spicy (definitely order extra sauce on the side) Mac and cheese is really good, the run punch is delicious and the coconut run punch is good too if you like creamy. Overall this please is always a slam dunk, great portions and excellent service.

Since I got back from Vietnam I have been on a Jamaican/Caribbean food kick, so when my big bro demanded I meet him at Negril for our weekly lil bro/big bro check in, I happily obliged. We walked in at 7:08pm to a damn near empty restaurant. We were a little shocked, as any place in nyc this empty at 7pm on a Friday seems like a red flag. Negril has a high class Jamaican ambiance, which seems like a contradiction in itself, but I was all for it. My big bro, on the other hand, became concerned. He began to look at pictures on Yelp and thought the portion sizes looked too small for him. After deliberating on whether to stay or leave, I was like "dude let's just try it-it can't hurt to try..." I realized I had never stood up to big bro like this and took a major risk by stating a personal opinion. But he responded with a nonchalant "Okay, I'm down." Did I just big bro my big bro? We got the Jerk Wings, Oxtail Empanadas, Plantains, Curried Goat, and the Jerk Chicken. I was absolutely blown away by the food. The spices and the flavors were all on point, everything was hittin with my favorite being the Jerk Wings and Curried Goat. After we ate, a photographer came around taking HIGH quality pictures of customers. I was a little confused at first, but the motive became clear when they got to our table. They took a couple pictures of me and my big bro, then about 5 minutes later came back with framed pictures that cost $20 a piece. $20 is wild... but at the same time I can't knock the hustle. If I was a few drinks in while eating with my girl, they forsure would have got my ass. Echoing other reviews, the ONLY reason I'm giving them 4 stars is because of the 20% gratuity baked in. I just think that this completely misaligns incentives for good service. By the end of our meal, the place was PACKED which was external validation that we had made a great decision. External validation, while dangerous, is nice sometimes. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews

I have to admit that I love this place. Years ago I used to go to the old one on 23rd, as it was close to my gym at the time. But this location has such a nice vibe. Very chilled with a touch of sophistication. Added to that is the fact that the food is delicious! On this occasion we had an order of curried goat roti, and another order of curried lobster, shrimp, salmon, and grits. Both dishes were delicious. Perfectly prepared. Added to that the wonderful and attentive service provided by Christina, and it was a wonderful dinner date night. If you've not been, then I encourage you to go. Have some great food, enjoy the environment, and just feel alright...

Curry seafood comes with a lobster tail, a couple of small chunks of salmon, about three or four shrimp

Overall, the experience was nice and the food was good. We came to celebrate my husband's birthday. I probably should've done a little more research beforehand because I really just wanted them to sing him "Happy Birthday," but you have to understand--dealing with Jamaicans, they're not usually like that. My husband, who is Jamaican, didn't really mind. The chicken was a little burnt, but everything else was good. He enjoyed the rest of the food, and since he had no real complaints, I could tell he was satisfied--especially because he tipped $40.

I enjoyed the laid back Caribbean vibe of this establishment. The music, service and food were good. I highly recommend the empanadas to start. The curry goat is delicious! If you plan to visit please understand that this is a BYOB restaurant. While this can be seen as an inconvenience to some it was no biggie as we ordered a bottle of wine through delivery service. Lastly depending on budget this place may be a bit pricey for some. Overall it was a good experience and I would definitely eat here again.

Ask the Community - Negril Village

Is the down stairs area open for dancing?

I don't believe so. When I visited this past December, downstairs was only open for using the bathroom.

Is this place good for dinner and dancing?

Dinner Yes. A Lil Costly. And Taste Tempered Down A Lil. Their Used To Be Lite Dancing On Lower Level / Wit Music But This Was Prior To Covid. Not Sure How They Do It Now

    Is there a Saturday brunch?

    Yes

How is the Sunday Brunch? Would it be fun for a birthday celebration with a large party of guests?

Yes, at the bar and tables.

What daya and times are happy hout please?

Dancing on Tues or Wed? Happy hour only at the bar?

Hi Zippy, when we went it was super crowded. Standing room only so I saw no dancing. People could barely move while waiting to be seated. I'm not sure about happy hour.

    How are the drink prices?

    10 bucks

Do they play music in the dining area? I know they have music downstairs

Yes, when I visited you could hear music in the dining area. It wasn't so loud that we had to scream to hear one another, just an average volume.

Are there any vegetarian/vegan friendly options available?

Yes! My favorite dish that I had was meatless, the collar green spring rolls. I actually remember enjoying my sides (rice & peas, plaintains) more than my chicken.

Do I need to make reservations?

I walked in around midnight on a Saturday night and was seated right away. Not sure about other times tho..

Is there a bottomless brunch option? If so,how much is it?

Yes for 1 hour on Sundays. You have the choice between 4 drinks and you can mix and match if preferred.

Are they age requirements to get in?

Only to go to the upstairs and downstairs bars. Not the restaurant.

What's the best dessert to get. Will be there on 2 weeks?

My favorites are Mom's Bread Pudding (comes with specialty ice cream and rum sauce) and also the Tropical Cheesecake (comes with a berry compote).…

I'm coming in June with my sisters and my husband for my sisters birthday. Do they have dancing because my sister loves to dance?

Yes they do. Go downstairs into the Rhum Lounge. The DJ is excellent. You can't help but dance. Have a coconut rum punch while you're down there as well. It is made to PERFECTION!

On what nights do they have dj? What time does the dj come?

    Friday Saturday Sunday

Will the lunge for Dancing be Renovated by Dec 1st 2017?

Hello Barbara, The Rhum Lounge, here at Negril Village will absolutely be open for December 1!…

What night is club night and what time is it and should we make reservations for dinner if we want to dine before dancing?

The club is currently under construction :( the waiter wasn't able to provide a date when the club would reopen.

Is this place good for big parties?

I think you should contact them directly to see if they accommodate the amount in your party, but I attended a birthday dinner with 9-10 people and it was still comfortable and fun.

Ambiance: This place has a nice ambiance, definitely very "New York" -- dark (you can't see how dirty the floor is) and loud music (maybe too loud). We sat upstairs (we had a reservation) and of all the people on the top there was a party of 4 (us), a party of 8 (all dudes celebrating something) and the rest of the tables were on a DATE - which I thought was funny. Service: We were served by Ann-Marie who was so delightful. She was kind, super nice, and took the time to speak to us (which is basically how we figured out she wasn't a native New York City person). She gave us good food suggestions and we were very happy with our selection. Food: Here is what we ordered * Steak Frites: My two boys got the steak frites and I have to say the steak was awesome! I had a bite of each of theirs and they each ordered it differently (one Medium Rare/Medium and one Medium) and they both were prepared PERFECTLY. The fries were overflowing. * Caeser Salad with Salmon: My wife got the salad with Salmon (they only have a few salad options) and she enjoyed it. * Prawn and Crab Risotto: I got this and I have to say it was VERY bland. I wouldn't get this if you are looking for taste. I had to put salt and pepper on it to make it have any semblance of taste. Value/Price: I would say this is not over priced but it is not cheap either...bill is attached. I would recommend it to folks who are looking for a good place to either go out on a date or a family type meal.

The bi-level bar and lounge was dark, swanky, and seductive. It would make an excellent spot for dates or groups of friends, like mine. We started off sitting at the bar, as there were no large tables available upon our arrival. However, after about 15 minutes, the host approached to tell us that he could actually seat us. I picked up my glass, which was wet with condensation, and it slipped out of my hands. I was able to collect it with only a minor spill, but the host insisted that the bar staff make me a new cocktail in case the glass had chipped at all. It was a considerate gesture that I greatly appreciated. Plus, since I had already taken a few sips, I was thrilled to get those back in a new glass! In terms of my cocktail of choice, I had opted for the Hot Tijuana Tease, a fiery blend of mezcal, blanco tequila, chile poblano liqueur, and lime juice. So, it was essentially a spicy margarita, and it was excellent. There were clean, crisp notes of peppery heat balanced with layers of robust smoke. My only complaint about the lounge was that the bathrooms were beyond tiny. There were two unisex stalls in a very tight alcove that also included a cramped sink counter. It was awkward and uncomfortable to share that space with another patron. Aside from that, the Hide Rooftop was a beautiful place with a friendly staff and interesting drinks.

They have an amazing selection of mixed drinks and other types of alcohol. We got a cheese martini, a mezcal drink and a non alcoholic citrusy drink that tasted awesome! The drinks are priced at a premium (~$25 each) but the favors are worth it! Give it a try!

It was on a weekday, the day of NBA Finals Game 3 when everyone else were at bars & lounges getting ready for the game to start. This afforded us a beautiful and tranquil experience at Osamil Upstairs. Hidden behind a locked door inside Osamil, it's a spot you have to seek out to get in. After we shared we were going to Osamil Upstairs, the hostess from Osamil promptly unlocked the unmarked door for us to head upstairs to Osamil Upstairs. Had other customers not come out as we were walking up the stairs, we might have passed the entrance to Osamil Upstairs and continued upward! Much like what you might expect of a speakeasy, it's well-hidden, and the interior just blows the mind. It's elegant, beautiful, and comfortable. The drinks were good. My cheese in the trap was smokey (as promised!) and alcohol forward. My hubby had the Jung cocktail and it had the most magical, delicious combination of flavors! We also ordered a foie gras with toast appetizer as a pre-dinner snack; it was OK. All in all, a really pleasant experience and we'd return if we were in the area again!

There are three different themes of decor as you walk through, and the staff said it was themed after Midnight in Paris. Very comfortable and easy to have a conversation. We each ordered one drink: Zero Proof(n/a)- full sun Latin Matrix A glass of red wine (unfortunately I didn't note which she ordered.) The staff overheard we were celebrating a birthday and offered us each a complimentary drink after we had already closed out so that we could do a birthday cheers (since one person doesn't drink, one of the complimentary sparkling drinks was also non-alcoholic). I highly recommend!

Since it was right next to where I was leaving my friends, I decided to see if I could get a seat at the bar without a reservation. I checked in with the host and she said they had room. So no rezzie needed that night when solo. The bar area is very dark and intimate. I only had time for one drink and decided on the one above. It was nicely balanced. I'm a whisky girl, especially rye, so I enjoyed sipping on this. A nice stop on the way to diner. I was here years ago, but that experience is a little hazy. Glad I was able to revisit. REVIEW #4002
