I've been to this rooftop several times, and the food/ drinks/ energy is always consistent. The live dj is always amping up the crowd, it's very interactive. They always do the conga line doing the cha cha step dance lol I love coming here in groups or on a date. There are photographers who come around and ask you to pose for a picture by yourself or whoever you're with, they guide you with the poses. They later come back to show you the picture and offer them to you for a price. They will have a frame available. The service depends on the waiter you get, for the most part they are friendly. I only had one bad experience that left a bad taste in my mouth.. the first time I came the waiter packed up our cantina rooftops mugs for no additional price so I assumed that when you order specialty drinks that come in mugs like that they are yours to keep as a souvenir idk we didn't ask him for those mugs..so on another occasion I asked my waiter if I was going to get that mug to take home at the end and he was very nasty and sarcastic about it, he said sure if you pay for it. The answer wasn't wrong but the look and tone he gave me was out of line without knowing just coworker gifted me and my group our mugs on another occasion. One bad fruit isn't going to ruin this place for me, I definitely recommend you give this place a try. I love their tacos and drinks. Everything I've tried so far has been great. I came here a couple times, and after my second time I am sure this is NOT the place to be. Taco Bell deserves a higher rating (have you had their nacho fries? Whew...ok lets get back to the review) First of all, they make you wait on line EVEN with a reservation and let me tell you the line is always super long. Also the wait time after you order your food is so long by the time you get your food you're not even hungry anymore. My friend celebrated her 39th birthday here, on Cinco de mayo and I told her, I wish she had asked me to help her find a place because I would have steered her away from Cantina Rooftop. Her and her family waited so long even with a reservation to be seated at a table and then once we were seated we waited a very long time. And then half of her family left when the wait for the food became much too long. Even the appetizers took forever to arrive so you can imagine how long we were waiting for the main course. The service is absolutely terrible. The only redeeming part of the evening was the music. The DJ had best playlist I've ever heard in a club or restaurant. We were dancing in our seats the whole night. But keep in mind, it provides more of a club vibe than a place to catch u[ with your lover or the fam because you won't be able to hear them over the bangers. The DJ was probably the only reason why we stayed as long as we did. An hour later when we finally got our food, it was sub-par. For a place where the lines are too long and prides itself for being a place of great views, and great vibes you'd think there would be better food. The tacos aren't bad but the food overall isn't great. Everything is overpriced and not worth it. The guac left much to be desired and reminded me of the guac at taco bell. Cantina Rooftop really delivers when it comes to atmosphere. The vibes are truly immaculate; great music, lively crowd, & overall fun energy that makes it a perfect spot for drinks and socializing. The food was alright...enjoyable, but not something I'd come specifically for. That said, it works well with the ambiance. What really elevated the experience, was the manager/DJ. He truly was the life of the party. Super welcoming, high energy, and clearly set the tone for the entire space. $44 for two cocktails. Welcome to NYC, babe! We came to Cantina Rooftop, located in Midtown Manhattan, to enjoy some drinks and Latin music on a Saturday night. Security checked our IDs when we entered the building, and then we took the elevator to the 4th floor. We arrived after 10pm and were able to get a table right away. Now... this is the one and only good thing I have to say about this place. The ambiance is perfect for celebrations or parties. They have a DJ, loud music, and a dance floor. The rooftop is decorated with colorful/festive Mexican decor and neon lights. Nice view of Manhattan buildings. Now let's get into what's very wrong with this business. We ordered a pomegranate margarita and an original margarita. At $17 a drink, you would want it to at least taste good... actually, it should taste great. We took a few sips and ugh... These were some of the worst cocktails we've had. They were so watered down and had very little (if any) tequila in them. They tasted like those pre-made margarita mixes you can buy from your local grocery store. All sugar and artificial juice flavors. Not to mention, they were served in cheap, acrylic cups. We flagged down our waitress to politely and respectfully tell her that our drinks weren't to our liking and were very weak. We didn't ask her to remove them off the bill, we didn't ask for a double shot, we didn't want a different drink... Our waitress told us she couldn't take the drinks back and remake them. Instead, she said we could buy a tequila shot. Girl, bye. Why would I spend more $$$ on a tequila shot when you can just remake my $17 margarita or add a bit more liquor into it? We told her "no, thank you". A good restaurant that cares about GOOD SERVICE would offer to remake it or give us another solution. At least try to make things right for the customer. At one point in the night, all of the servers went around every table to give customers plastic cups. They wanted us to pour our drinks from their original cups into these plastic cups. Why? No clue... maybe the kitchen was closing and the dishwashers wanted to clean the "glassware"? Lol, whatever. So we chugged our nasty drinks for our money's worth and asked for the bill. OF COURSE the bill had an automatic 20% "gratuity" fee. And for what? Lol... service was horrible. We had to flag down our waitress 3-4 times because she never came to us. She didn't do anything about our drink situation. $44 for two bad cocktails, "mandatory tip", and tax. Waste of money. Just another business that cares more about ~*ambiance~* and making money over good customer service and good quality drinks/food. read more

The food was absolutely hard and stale. No joke reheating a Taco Bell quesadilla after a day would be much more appetizing. Expensive price for old food and drinks that were watery and weak. They also discriminate if you're black. You'll be ignored after being seated so expect your food to be late and nasty, but literally escorted to pay the tab. We saw the umbrella decorated rooftop of Cantina Rooftop from our 14th floor hotel room and decided at that time we were gonna go over there to check it out. We went over and a pleasant young lady directed us to the elevator where we made our way to the rooftop (4th floor). The space was rocking with music as soon as the elevator doors opened! The atmosphere was energetic and the staff were bubbly and gracious. We were shown to our table by a pleasant young man, in the area of the umbrella decorated patio area. We didn't order any drinks, but looked over the menu and decided on the birria tacos. While we were waiting on our food, a staff member dressed in a shark costume came out and proceeded to dance and interact with the customers, which was funny! Other staff members dressed up in poncho/sombreros and the like, visiting tables and interacting with guests while the music, which was a mix of Latin/r&b/top 40, blasted and lent to the pulsating, event filled evening. Our food arrived and it was good. We got three tacos per order in a soft tortilla drenched in the barria sauce with the perfect amount of beef filling. So good! As the night came, the pulsating neon lights in the ceiling, walls, and umbrellas overhead lit up and that's when the atmosphere really got heated up. There were guests celebrating birthday parties and the staff came out each time in a procession with sparklers going and singing happy birthday with so much energy. They even took pictures and had them ready to sell in a matter of minutes of the birthday person. There was a dance floor that stayed packed. They also have brunch on the weekends. But I will say for a night out and just drinking it's a really fun time. We came for a late bite to eat and stayed to party. Came here with a reservation for AYCE Taco Tuesday as a group of 3 late March. There was an attendant at the entrance checking reservations. When the elevator brought us up, we were met with loud live music from a DJ. There were still many groups waiting for tables. We were not seated for another half hour. Unfortunately, service was not too great. Food took a long time to get to us. We were only able to get 2 orders during our time and the second order took well over half hour to get to us. This may have been due to the fact the place was completely packed and 1 server working maybe 5-10 tables at once. However, not all was bad! The tacos were delicious. Came here for AYCE tacos for $25 on a Tuesday when they offer this deal. Once you get to the rooftop, it's super loud to the point where you have to yell across the table to talk to your friends. Our waitress just started us off with two of each tacos since it was AYCE. Our favorite was the suadero and we would not recommend the pollo asado as it was super dry. Drinks were expensive for being in a small cup, but they were strong. Our total came out to be over $100 for 2 drinks and 2 AYCE pp. While it was nice to experience AYCE tacos, I wish they had more toppings to offer on the side. read more

Cantina's had a great vibe. Everyone looks happy while they are there. We went at night for a birthday dinner. The music was great. We ordered chicken nachos, chicken enchiladas, birria tacos, chimichano tacos (I probably have the name wrong) and an appetizer platter can't remember the name. The yucca fries were delicious and so were the pork chicharrones in the platter we ordered. The chicken nachos and the enchiladas were really good. The tacos were okay. The service was not bad for a very busy Friday night. Just be prepared to spend money because it is pretty pricey but I feel like it's expected because it's a rooftop and it's down town. I seen this establishment on IG and TikTok and I had to try it. We made reservations and when we got there we were greeted by the host who was very friendly and told us where to go . When we got upstairs to the roof top the ambiance was amazing. The decors and the music were great. We got greeted again and taken to our seats. We were amazed by the place. My uncle saw this place for an IG and thought it would be a cool hangouts spot for his recent visit to town. I arrived a little later than the rest of the group and it seems food comes out pretty quickly. Here, the staff is a little all over the place, but they catch on quickly making rounds to cover at the menu and saw the different choices and decided to go with the nachos. They weren't bad but, for the price that they charge, you would think there would be some of the queso sauce that they make for the fundido (without meat) on the nachos. .It was a bunch of toppings and a light sprinkling of cotija. Meh. The drink, was overly sweet and spicy. Zero balance. Very little tequila.... $17? I digress. Went for a girls trip to the city and boy was this place fun! We made reservations prior to our stay, about a week before. You take an elevator up to the rooftop and are greeted by the hostess. We were originally seated in a back corner table and asked to move, they were able to accommodate this change and were seated in the middle of the dining room. We absolutely LOVED our server, he was fun and entertaining and understood the assignment of girls weekend! The vibe is fun, fun, fun!! They have a DJ playing music while you eat. I went here for brunch on a Saturday. They have the $38 brunch special where you get a full bottle of mimosa with an entree of your choice from a limited menu. Please note it's only one bottle included- it is not bottomless. None the less, it's a pretty big bottle. I ordered the steak fajita and asked for the steak to be medium well. The steak came out really rubbery and I couldn't eat it. I asked the manager to exchange for something else, and his response was that I should have ordered it medium rare instead. I have always ordered my steak medium well and never had this issue. I also saw a lot of other reviews where they complained about their steak entrees as well. He ended up changing it for chicken tacos, and the tacos were delicious. My friend ordered the carnitas egg Benedict and he enjoyed it a lot. Other than that small incident, the ambiance is really nice, the place is decorated nicely, and the staff is nice. This is a rooftop in the summer, but it is fully covered during the winter months and it is warm. The location is not ideal as it is far from trains, and if you drive- it's hard to find parking. You will most likely have to park at a meter- and that's $13.50 for two hours. I may go back during the summer time to enjoy the open rooftop, but will definitely not be ordering steak. read more

They have 10/12 kinds of tacos on the menu incuding substantial veg options. You can order unlimited tacos for 90mins and for the price which is awesomeeee. Loved their beef and cauliflower taco. My review is a bit late as I had brunch here during Halloween season (4 days before). Rooftop was very colorful and they decorated for Halloween. DJ was playing live and he was entertaining. It wasn't busy during the day but our party size was big. Had to wait for most of the party to be present before you can be seated so keep that in mind. Appetizers was served family size. Chips and guac tower was really good ..there was three different of guacamole and the one with mango was the best in my opinion. It was a fun place to be. read more

We watch Epicurious pretty religiously as part of our nighttime routine, so that means Saul Montiel is always there to bid us adios as we slip into the Dream World. This, we HAD to go and taste Chef Saul's creations IRL when we had the chance, and it didn't disappoint. Food - the real shine. We got fried plantains, the birria tacos, and the carnitas tacos. All the them were so delightfully crispy, fatty, and juicy. I think I was enamored with the carnitas. The fatty pork is really what sent this. And you simply can't go wrong with the birria. Party vibes - the party hits are blasting in here. There's a live DJ every night apparently, and the place is decked out in decorations- lights, colorful umbrellas, the works. We came around the holidays and there was a whole animatronic Santa and a sleigh set up as a photo op. It's super fun if you're in the mood, but also an ultra stimulating environment. Also Saul is on like every TV screen in there LOL. Amazing service - there was some dude in a suit that kept checking up on us. Really friendly. My son took me to this spot for my birthday this past weekend and I was very happy. We were there on a Sunday during brunch hours, the vibe was perfect, great music! I tried the coco mojito first, great presentation but it was too milky for me. Also tried the Passion Fruit Margarita which I enjoyed. I had the steak and egg entree which was very filling. The one thing i did not like was the wait for the elevator. The building has 4 floors and it took forever for the elevator to pick up, not sure if there are emergency stairs but if the one elevator is all they have it's a major fire hazard. We made reservations well in advance and thought we would be seated in the actual rooftop area (4th floor) instead we were put into what felt like a room on the 3rd floor. The vibe was still there. A DJ, a large bar, and a huge booth where we were seated. No windows to look outside. Crazy decorations that look like they were either hosting a wedding or a party. Service was slow. Painfully so. The drinks are strong. The food lacks flavor. But the vibe - the DJ will have you dancing that's for sure. Everyone else celebrating a birthday received a huge celebration but not our group. The waiter completely ignored our request and handed us the check and went about his merry way. After we paid we decided to use the stairs to go up to the actual rooftop (the 4th floor) where it was almost empty with plenty of seating near the windows. Another thing I noticed was they block the elevator to the 4th floor with a couch and keeping the floor locked on the elevator buttons. Isn't that a violation of ADA? they racially profile and they pic and choose who's allowed to celebrate birthdays too apparently. first scenario, blew out a young ladies birthday cake (contaminating a group of peoples cake with a strangers breath and spit) jus to spite them. second incident they had a staff member follow this group of young black women after paying their bill, to check if they had paid their bill. held them hostage in the elevator after they held up evidence which were two checks of proof that they paid. staff said "I asked you to see it you didn't wanna show me" implying he wanted the receipts in hand to show proof... why would they be holding onto two random receipts as they're walking out of a restaurant, wouldn't the receipts in their hand lead you to assume they've just paid ? because those ladies were black they felt the need to do this... now adding the previous situation I mentioned with the birthday cake ? this just goes to show cantina is unprofessional , disgusting in spirit and behavior and flat out does not need to be in business. read more
