Fair warning on the latte as the oat milk topping has a bit of a jelly consistency. It wasnt unpleasant but was a bit if a surprise when we went for an initial sip. Overall the Upstairs gives a very pampered and sophisticated feel that coordinates with the dining downstairs.

The acoustics could use some work. Outside might be better but because it's on the second floor, the view isn't much to speak of compared to the rooftop bar.

Like the reviewer below me said, the beef carpaccio is to die for. This area of Chelsea isn't really known for exactly being particularly exciting to NYers unless they're going to MSG. The place is loaded with bodegas, crappy food places, stale Irish Bars, and places that pretend to be beer bars and have terrible food (I'm looking at you Stout!) I really love the food here and try to come here at least once a week. Its all dirt cheap and the portions are just right. Despite the low prices all the food is high quality. I had a roast duck there on special. Cut in half length-wise with some cooked apricots, figs, and I don't remember what else served over a bed of saurkraut. Sadly it was no longer on the menu when I came back. I've tried most of their appetizers and a bunch of their meat entrees. I found myself scraping the tiny cast iron skillet when I ordered the beef stroganov. Other tasty things include their burgers, pork chops, and wings. My only real complaint is that the bartenders aren't all created equal. Some seem to really know what they're doing and others... well.. don't. but at least they're all pretty, right? read more

I thought the area around MSG was filled with nothing but tourist traps and hobos, but Taboo lounge disproves my preconceptions. Right down the street from the Blarney Stone, Taboo lounge offers the same great after work atmosphere, if not a bit more upscale - which i appreciate. The food is amazing - thanks to the award winning chef - try the beef carpaccio and/or the sausage platter if you're undecided; you cant go wrong. Seriously...this place should be called "creepy foreign grandpa", because that's pretty much the gist of who was in there. Stopped with friends for a cocktail before going to Madison Square Garden and quickly realized the mistake. Adding insult to injury, it was over $100 for a few watery tasting drinks and two beers AND we got accosted by two smelly homeless guys that hover around their doorway begging. My coworkers and I go to Taboo at least twice a month because the vibe is amazing. The music is always good and the ladies who work there provide great customer service. We absolutely LOVE Kim and her drinks are the besssttt! She takes great care of us and took the time to memorize our favorites. Kim's service is top notch. The food is also so delicious. After about twenty minutes they come for our party and walk us to the back portion of the venue which is a bit quieter but also poorly set up(imagine the kids table @ a thanksgiving dinner)--collapsible fold up table, fold up chairs. In my mind I'm like wtf is this??? There was another party of 6 seated adjacent to us and shortly after a party of 14 was seated on the other side. (All three parties, ours included, were African American...heavy side eye) Then our server, who didn't speak a lick of English, greeted us. We managed to order drinks and appetizers by pointing things out on the menu for her to comprehend. Upon her arrival with our drinks and appetizers, we inquired about what entrees were good on the menu. Her response was "everything."... like be for real girl! This was your opportunity to sell the place. If someone is asking you what you recommend on the menu you don't say everything; you pick one or two meals from the menu. As we reviewed the check, it became clear that we had been overcharged on multiple items. They also added gratuity to our party of five without ever mentioning it. We have no problem tipping, but adding it without informing your guests is not good hospitality. My family has worked in the restaurant business for years, so I understand mistakes happen. This didn't feel like a simple mistake--it felt like a lack of transparency from start to finish. I wasn't willing to spend our evening arguing with the server or manager and ruin the night for our guests, so we paid and left. That said, as someone who lives locally, I won't be coming back, and I won't be recommending this restaurant to anyone. There are far better places in the city that are upfront with their customers and earn repeat business.

We also checked out the happy hour, which had some pretty decent prices, definitely a great option if you're looking to grab drinks and a few bites without spending too much. The highlight for me was the empanadas. They were absolutely delicious , perfectly cooked with great flavor, and easily my favorite thing we ordered. I'd definitely recommend trying them if you go! Overall, this spot really impressed me. Great service, good happy hour deals, and tasty food. I'd 100% recommend it and I'm already looking forward to coming back!

But my only problem is that it's closed Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and opens at 4pm. A Mexican restaurant that closes on taco Tuesday I have never witnessed anything like this before.

The bartender was wonderful shared a rum punch as i waited for my dinner. You can bring a birthday cake to cut however it's a up-charge. Food wasn't too hot and salty but was tasty. Management was helpful with any discrepancies. Nice modern music to vibe to. There's a full lounge on the lower level with a DJ and top shelf bar area to dance and socialize. I was especially impressed by the exceptional service from the manager, Anthony, who went above and beyond to accommodate me even though I arrived about 10 minutes late due to traffic. His professionalism and kindness truly made a difference and set the tone for a wonderful evening. I had a great time and will definitely be returning again. Highly recommend!
