Often they provide free housemade slushies, which is a nice perk to have while waiting for your order. The food smells excellent, but maybe a little more subtle and muted than I was expecting for a Mediterranean grill. I got a chicken shawarma pita. The pita itself was both soft and light. For me that's a huge plus. Initially I was underwhelmed by the filling because most of the vegetables were piled on top, but when I went deeper, the chicken was spiced/sauced excellent. Never thought I would say I enjoyed the subtleties in a chicken shawarma pita but I did. I wasn't overwhelmed by the number of menu selections and l was immediately able to pick something I wanted to try. Thumbs up for that. As always, food is an experience beyond just the taste of the food and the scents in the venue. the open air ambiance is really nice during the spring through early fall, and I guess the open space will be interesting during the winter too. The theme of the restaurant's decor is unfortunately kind of off. Not that it's inconsistent with itself, it's just that walking in I get a coffee shop vibe instead of Mediterranean. The music is also laid back hip hop... distinctly un-Mediterranean The biggest (maybe only) actual downside is the price. It was very fatty and chewy. Didn't taste like lamb. Didn't taste Mediterranean or Middle Eatern (broad term but still). It's like they gave me lamb trimmings. Would give zero stars if I could. Worst customer service ever, they forgot to bring me my two pitas with my order so I had a bowl of hummus and nothing to dip it in. They claimed they checked the cameras (which is crazy )and claimed the pitas were there put in the bag. They then called me a liar and wouldn't let me speak to the manager. My boss brought me here once in December of last year and it was great! I have returned a couple of times in the last two months and it just isn't the same. I got a lamb shawarma pita and I had to take all of the meat out because it was so tough and fatty- I couldn't chew it. I couldn't even pull it apart, it was pretty bad. We ordered the Chicken Shawarma Lamb Kabab and Humus. Delivery Time: Under 30 minutes The Lamb Kabab was very good, moist and full of mint and Mediterranean spices, not too spicy full of flavor. Unfortunately they were only 3 tiny little balls, smaller than a golf ball larger than a quarter. They provided a very generous portion of yellow rice, and chopped salad with a dollop of tahini sauce, which was very tasty. The Chicken was about 4oz or not quite 1/2 cup chopped and it got lost in the rice, also generous and the same chopped salad and tahini. We loved the small container of humus, smooth and rich in flavor. I'm guessing we ordered wrong, this is a pita sandwich place and if you order a platter like we did you get the same pita size protein and they make up for the bread with rice, not what I had in mind. But I imagine if you ordered this all assembled in a pita it would be great. So we spent too much for what should have been pita sandwiches. It was worth a try, not sure I will order again, mostly because I expect more in a platter and that's what I want in take out. read more

On our walk around the Union Square area, we were looking for a nice place to eat lunch. Surrounded by food carts, we continued looking only to stumble upon Taboonette on a side street. We are glad that we found this busy little place. Exuding a busy vibe, we ordered and scrambled to find a seat in this tight little place. Our selections were served hot, in generous proportions for a Chicken Schwarma and a Lamb Kabob.
