Fantastic shawarma, one of my favorite places in union square. Would recommend getting the plate although pita is solid.

Magical, delicious Mediterranean delight. Love the arugula salad and fruit chutney they serve with their plates. Highly recommend the lamb shwarma - it's less "lamb off a spit" and more of a pull-apart texture, as if it were braised. You can swap out the yellow rice for additional salad if you want to make this place more Whole 30 compliant (but I would take that with a grain of Whole 30-friendly salt, because I'm the worst at following these guidelines, e.g., there's probably some added sugar in the fruit chutney but it's so delicious that #longhairdontcare). Hummus is aggressively smooth, almost liquidity, which is not totally my jam but it's still delicious. I've tried both the pulled pork and the israeli egg sandwich with eggplant. Both were ridiculously good.

Yum! My fave new Union Square place for quick eats!! Small space, limited seating, but good fast casual food! Tons of hummus bowls with a variety of veg and non-veg fillings. Great place. My favorites are the Lamb Kabob Pita and the Pulled Pork Pita. The pita is soft and doughy, the meat's juicy, the herb/sauce/crisp cold veggie combos they mix in are just right, and they throw some lightly peppered potato chips on the side that are a nice little compliment (but only it you're dining in). I keep coming back whenever I get the chance. The rosemary cardamom cake is worth a try too. read more

Tried this place out for lunch. The ambiance was cozy and clean and the food was even better. The Kruveet pan was huge ($12) and a delicious pairing of veggies, salad, rice, and two huge scoops of tahini. My boyfriend wants me to mention that the candle in the bathroom even smelled great.... Everything here is amazing but nothing compares to the pulled pork pita! Hands down the best! The meat is so tender and smothered in a spicy chili aloli topped with an awesome sweet Apple-jicama slaw! Get a mint lemonade while your at it, helps with the heat! read more

Came here for lunch with some friends and will most definitely be coming back. I recommend the brisket, which is slow roasted and served with moroccan tomato, jam, arugula, herb salad, and tahini. You can get it on a pita for $10 but I like to get it on a pan for $13. The portion is really large and definitely enough for 2 small-medium sized meals if you're up for it. The food came out almost immediately despite there being so many people. They have a good amount of seating but don't expect to get a table if you're with others. I've also tried chicken shawarma pita sandwich, which was surprisingly refreshing--perfect for summer. I love that they have a middle-eastern breakfast menu too. Really enjoyed the food. There are plenty of restaurants in this area. I tried a few. Only this place, I will go back for the 2nd time.

The food here is excellent. My complaint is with the rewards program. Look, if you don't want to have a rewards program, don't have one. There is no law that says you need to have one and plenty of equivalent places just skip that whole practice. But, if you are going to have one, at least don't make it insulting. First, if I purchase two sandwiches, I should get two credits. Don't do it by visit. That's just dumb. Second, give me a friggen proper reward if I get t10 sandwiches instead of making me come back for a breakfast pita (yep, you only are entitle to a breakfast pita if you do them the favor of eating 10 regulal meals there). Thanks for the offer - everyone loves having Taboonette for breakfast. Seriously, your food is awesome although a bit pricey. Just take down the rewards program since you obviously don't want to reward your loyal customers. It's just insulting. Either that or make it a real program. read more

I love this place, fantastic food. The American pita is my favorite, its sublime and the Israeli pita is also good. My go-to takeout spot from now on as I love middle eastern food and they do a solid good job at good prices in an expensive part of the city. I also love that they serve breakfast pitas all day long. Ive eaten here 4-5 days a week for the past three years and am never disappointed. As someone who likes what they like, I can count on my fingers the amount of times I've ordered something other than the American Pita. They changed the recipe last year (the new American Pita is good too), but I recommend ordering it the "old way"-- with halumi and spicy mayo instead of cheddar and their ketchup (not typical ketchup). I go to school nearby and have turned so many of my classmates onto the place. Perfect for a quick breakfast or lunch. Staff is friendly, coffee is cheap yet good, and it is a great spot to sit solo or with a group of people. As a food blogger, the "OG" American Pita will be named my #1 dish of 2015. read more

Taboonette was a fantastic experience! We found it by chance and were not disappointed. I had the pulled pork pan and my husband had the salmon pita. I received a small mountain of food for $12. The rice was soft and fragrant with a spicy sauce. The salad was sweet and fresh. The pulled pork was exceptional. Just enough sweet, just enough barbecue; I want another one! We love Taboon restaurant so we really wanted to visit Taboonette. We loved the intimate, relaxed space -- the firewood wall is gorgeous! Don't you love when you want to eat the whole menu? It was hard to choose but the lamb kebab and vegetable platter were delicious. Favourite part of the meal was the Corn Cobs, not enough eating establishments are offering Corn on the Cob. Come on America, stop wasting this King of vegetables in HF corn syrup, just eat the damn corn! My daughter and I had lunch there a few days ago. I had the beet soup, We did not share our food. 8 Hours later I had symptoms of severe gastroenteritis with water diarrhea, loss of appetite and fatigue. That was the only food I ate that day so I an assuming the food at Taboonette did it. I will never return. read more

Got lunch catered for 25 people here and it was honestly one of my fave places. Their beet salad is soo good- I never knew I liked beets so much! The pulled pork was a stand out dish. Tender, well seasoned, and overall awesome with that mustard. Chicken was good too..but I preferred the pork. I can't speak for the cauliflower dish called kruveet because I don't like cauliflowers, but it was very popular amongst colleagues. The rice is also really good. I love the platters here! My favorite is the lamb platter! Totally worth it for the money good size for what you get! Will return for more. Got the warm kale salad, which comes with chickpeas, carrots, sweet potatoes, and hummus. It would have been great, except half of the kale was bad - yellow with black spots. I was really disappointed because I paid $11 for it and couldn't even eat half of it. I would have brought it back if I wasn't so far away when I ate it. Such a bummer!
