I had the pleasure of getting here for Taco Tuesday and for a Thursday when I wanted more. In terms of tacos, this is as authentic as Mexican street food gets. As a fellow citizen of H-town, we have a vibrant taco scene and I would put this place up there with some of my favorite spots I frequented in HOU. Each time I've been here, I've ordered between 8-9 tacos as they are each $2.50. I've gotten a combination of pastor, barbacoa, lengua, bistec, and cabeza. I can't really select a favorite cause they're all so delicious with the meats tender and juicy with a heaping sprinkle of onions and cilantro. Make sure you squeeze the lime on it and mix it with the radish/cucumber garnish they'll throw in there. And don't forget to throw on that green/red salsa they provide. Either eat there or get it to go (which is what I did). Fortunately the tacos travel well as they were still hot when I posted up at my hotel to grub. Don't be discouraged of the long line if you see one as it moves quick. You walk up and place your order, then pay afterwards. It's somewhat of an honor system but there is security present when I went there so that eased my concerns. For drinks, it's either soft drinks, water, or mineral water. No alcohol is served here so if you want margaritas/micheladas/beer, you'll have to go elsewhere for that. No doubt I'm returning next time I'm in SA. Viva Taquitos West SIDE! read more

My allll time favorite taco place in San Antonio. The flavor of the tacos are amazing and I love the sauces that they have. I would say the tacos are pretty affordable and they give you a lot of meat. My favorite taco to get from them is their Al Pastor tacos which is only served on Friday and the weekends. The service is fast and very attentive. If you need something to drink after you sit down with your tacos they will approach you asking if you would like anything to drink. Legit bomb street tacos! This place has got it pat down and shine in what they're known for. Basically, the menu is on the window ordering counter- several proteins to choose from - one side listed in Spanish, the other English. The servers can help place your orders, obtain your drinks, seat you, and get anything you need. All orders come as a plate of 6 street tacos of your choice. I ordered 2 bistek, 2 al pastor, and 2 tongue with all the fixings (onions, cilantro, sliced radishes, and grilled onions). Delicious!!!' The al pastor had the most flavor and was on a trompo. Tacos are good, I would stick with the tripas, cabeza, and chorizo tacos. Bistec was my least favorite surprisingly. We found Taquitos West Avenue on a best-of-San Antonio Reddit post, and it lived up to, maybe even exceeded, the hype! Rolled in around 3pm on a Thursday and didn't wait long. You order first, get seats, then pay on your way out (option to order more from the table). We started with 3 suadero (brisket), 3 al pastor, 1 cabeza and 1 tripas. The al pastor and tripas were our favorites, and we ordered 2 more each after. We've had street tacos in LA and San Diego, but the flavor and meat to tortilla ratio on Taquitos' tacos was rhe best. 12 tacos and a soda between two people came out to 30.26$. The staff were so friendly and helpful. There's some parking around the building; people are in and out pretty fast. Wish we had an extra day in SA just to have another meal here! read more

This place has the best tacos I have ever had in my life. We were in SATX for 4 days and every day, we have been trying new places for tacos but unfortunately, they did not meet my expectations. They were either too salty, missing ingredients, or no flavors (this was the case at one of the most well known and highly rated places in SATX. I will not expose their name) but was very disappointed. Stumbled across this place and drove to it on New Year only to find that they were closed (but it said open on Yelp). Call to confirm. We were determined to go the next day and not even kidding, I devoured my 5 tacos so fast. Their tacos are so good in every way possible: flavor, less oil, condiments (radish and cucumbers), and the sauce is so damn good. Usually taco places either miss a couple of things or overly salt their food so it's hard to enjoy it. Here, they give you salt packets so that you can add more salt if needed but honestly, it's not needed. It was so damn good that we went back for round 2, for dinner. This time, the line was out the door. The gentleman that took my bf's order was very nice. Very friendly and smiled (didn't see him smiling much to others). Parking: they have a couple parking spots right next to their restaurant but the huge parking lot next door is also theirs. Cars go in and out alllll the time. This place is just WOW on so many levels! Taste, quality, service, cleanliness, efficiency, just everything! We are so full! We wanted to try some of everything at first, so we started with the basics: al pastor freshly shaved off the Trompo and the bistek. The bistek was a little bland and a bit dry, but the al pastor was amazing! A server asked if we wanted to place another taco order and, even though we were getting full, we didn't want to throw in the towel without trying a few more. We ordered the brisket, the tripas, and more al pastor. We had never had a tripas taco but everybody raves about them so we figured we should try them. Wow! Perfectly cooked and seasoned, they reminded me a bit of pork crackling with some crispy bits and some tender bits, with a really great pork flavor. The brisket tacos were also excellent, and better than the bistek. Green and red salsas were brought to the table by the server. The green was so good, we never tried the red. DH is cilantro averse, so it was nice that you can get it on the side or leave it out completely. It literally takes less than a minute to get your food when you order it! As full as we were, we had to share a flan. Flavor was good, though very sweet, but the texture and appearance weren't the greatest. It wasn't smooth and creamy like a properly and carefully prepared flan- it was a little lumpy on the inside, big air holes, and a "skin." Again, the flavor was nice but we'd skip it next time if this is how it always is. Prices are extremely reasonable, too. Wherever you are, it's definitely worth the drive. read more
