My Spanish is never great but our waitress was patient and sweet. Tacos, hamburgers and quesadilla were delicious. They serve charro beans that have cheese and beef that were on point. So we ordered this from Uber Eats, and it arrived at the house and was totally delicious. So then we went to the location and tried it at the restaurant and for some reason it was nowhere near as good. First, I had their frijoles especiales ($3.50). Picture the best bean soup you have ever had, then loaded with even more meat, more savory spices, without heat, and more cheese. These were bar none the best beans I have ever had and I cannot emphasize how much they need to be ordered. The tacos. Oh, the tacos. I didn't know tacos could taste like this. I got their caprichos mixtos (5 street tacos for $10). They were a symphonic mixture of bistek and trompo-cooked pork. The soft and chewy steak, the crispy brick-red pork, amplified by the delicious but not hot spices, the savory cheese, all coming together in a medley of flavors and textures was heavenly. Garnished with some lime wedges, grilled onions, a grilled jalapeno, as well as fresh cilantro and onions, they were amazing. Add in their salsas, both very hot, either a salsa verde or a chili de arbol that punch your taste buds to life, these were easily some of the best tacos I have ever had, certainly the best street tacos by a mile. I cannot praise the food at this place enough. It is a must-try if you are in San Antonio. It is a great dinner option as this taqueria is only open from 5PM to midnight, making it even a late-night destination when you need (yes, NEED) great street tacos and frijoles. I love their food, I love it so much I drive 30+ mins to get some tacos. My favorite are the caprichos mixtos with pineapple on top they are the best! The only bad about this place is that is far on the west side and customer service is bad. Whoever gave a bad review they probably order the wrong item on the menu because this are way better than taquitos west but they are right about the owner she is pretty rude which is not good for the business however she has her sons and daughters helping out once in a while who are super nice. This is my To go place for tacos and I would not stop going because of the owner's lack of customer service I do think it's improving since her kids are checking people out which is always good. Man this place its all nostalgia for me. If you are not able to go back to Monterrey or even if you have that craving for an authentic taquito from Monterrey this is your place. Everything is good but my go to option is something called Caprichos Regios I order them mixed with Beef steak and Trompo "planchado" trust me ask them for the "planchado" option its worth every penny. This place is hit or miss. I've come here a couple times already and you either get awesome tacos or you get burnt meat with no flavor tortilla drowned in oil etc. I don't know if it's a different person cooking the times I've gone but if they can be more consistent with the quality and flavor of the meat this place would be a top spot in San Antonio. read more
