My wife and I stopped by Los Weyes De La Asada while we were at El Camino. I'd heard good things about it, and seeing the charcoal grill going outside immediately got my attention. The smell alone made me think we were in for something special. We grabbed a couple of cocktails and ordered tacos, which seemed like the obvious choice. The tacos were good, but that's about where I'd leave it. They weren't bad at all, but they also weren't particularly memorable. With the aroma coming from the grill and all the recommendations I'd heard, I was expecting a little more flavor and a bigger wow factor. The atmosphere was fun, the service was good, and the charcoal grill definitely adds to the experience. I just found the food itself to be more "solid" than "spectacular." They serve it in a little bolsita, which somehow makes it hit even better. Simple, nostalgic, and just cool. My food was okay. The staff had straight faces and didn't smile. It seemed like they didn't want to be there. The overall feel wasn't welcoming. I've been to food trucks that have lots of energy and are kind. This was not one of them. The truck itself looks cool. I like their logo and designs for their signs. The truck being in the corner by itself in the park makes it feel secluded and private which is good for people who want to be farther away from the playground. read more

This is a food truck that we found at El Camino downtown San Antonio. We were out with the dogs and decided to give it a shot. We had the nachos ranchero style and they were delicious. We ordered at the window and were given a buzzer to alert us when the food was ready. I grabbed a couple of beers at the outdoor bar and our food was ready just as I grabbed the drinks. We found this spot on yelp after a long drive from Arizona (on a roadtrip from California) & were pleased to see it was open past 10:20pm (most spots were closing soon). Anyway, i liked the outside atmosphere - we don't have this type of setup on CA! My fiancé went to order us some tacos & when he returned he said they were pricey. I asked how much and he said $30 for 4 tacos and a bottled coke (we shared one) They took about 10-15 minutes to come out which to my surprise, they were plain asada tacos. Nothing special about them. They were good but no extra toppings like i'm seeing on the pictures via Yelp. Not sure what happened but even to a Californian, they were overly priced! The gentleman taking orders at the front of the truck was incredibly friendly and walked us through the entire menu, offering spot-on recommendations. We went with the 3-taco combo--El Chingón, El Mamón, and the Vaquero--and the staff surprised us with a fourth taco, on the house. Every single bite was packed with flavor, and we devoured them all.
