I visited this place a few times and each visit was delicious. The large menu made me nervous but I was pleasantly surprised. Food - Nachos with Barbacoa - really flavorful and saucy but the chips were still crunchy. The barbacoa was tender and savory. Cup o'meat - a great value at $14. I got the chicken which was tender and juicy. It was a very large meal that could easily be split between two people. Guacamole - life changing. If you're thinking "do I really need guacamole?" The answer is yes. This was so creamy and the grilled onions added a subtle sweetness that was perfect. Breakfast empanada - delicious, however, the bacon inside is more like a thick piece of ham and not what I was expecting. The dough was so crispy and delicious though and the eggs were creamy and cheesy. Korean chicken taco - this was the only one that kind of let me down. It wasn't bad and the chicken was cooked perfectly. The flavor balance was just slightly off. I think pickled red onions instead of pickled cucumber on this would be better. Salsas - I tried every salsa provided at the salsa bar and they were all so flavorful. Pro tip: ask for the habanero pineapple salsa. My favorites were the habanero, verde, and taqueria. Service: Consistently good and everything was quick from the ordering process to the time it took to receive our food. Ambiance: Very fast casual vibe to this place but the bar is nice. Everything was clean and there is plenty of outdoor seating. My only complaint is that the chairs are pretty uncomfortable. read more

I don't understand the hype unfortunately, bamba is overpriced gentrified Mexican street food. Most of it is pretty good, but not $6/taco good- the guacamole is surprisingly awful, basically just avomash. The pack the bowl is probably the only decent bang for the buck. Every time I order delivery I get different sauces with my pack the bowl, this time I got none. I'm not sure what it's supposed to come with but I'd appreciate some more consistency. read more

The quesadilla was much greasier than I expected but what do you expect for Mexican food. I sat at the bar and was greeted quickly and had exceptional service. The only problem was I came at lunch time... the woman yelling numbers for the to go orders had such a loud high pitched ear piercing yell. It was annoying and uncomfortable. First time here. I'll start with the positive. The food was delicious. I had the Taco Bamba. It had tender skirt steak and chorizo. The flavors were really good. Also had the Jeneral taco. This was seared ahi tuna, cooked perfectly and also had great flavors. Tried all of the sauces and were all top notch. The negative would have to be the service and lack of heat. We were sat and greeted right away. But she never came back and went to the table next to us several times. So we went to the counter to order. She was nice and friendly. The second issue is that it was freezing in there. I had to keep my coat over my legs because it was so cold. They need to crank the heat. This restaurant is clean and they have indoor or outdoor seating which is a plus. They have a decent bar so chill spot to get a drink and enjoy some good food. We were greeted and the nice gentlemen let us know we can view the menu posted above the bar or look at a paper menu. And if we have any questions please let him know. We ended up having questions so we asked the female at the register she was friendly and super helpful. I just picked my finance up from the airport and she was on a 14 hr flight so we both were hungry. She ordered mulita de birria and birria taco. I ordered two grilled chicken tacos and street corn. Our total was like $40 and I gave a tip of $5.68 because the cashier was super helpful. We also got two horchata drinks. The drink was yummy and my tacos were seasoned well, street corn was decent . My fiance loved the mulita de birria but the birria taco (lamb) was just ok and she wished it came with sauce. The clocktower calamari -- interesting but too sweet. Tacos? Tortilla edges were DRY. not crispy. dry! and crumbly. and ultra thick with the double tortillas. Taco Bamba always hits!! The Jimmy Kabob and Biggie were our favorites and the queso is also such a nice addition. I try to get something new every time I go and I always love it. I wish they would open closer to me in Sterling but willing to make the drive to Herdon to get the best tacos around. Also please keep playing 90 R&B my toddler and I were jamming out. I recently had a family event not too far from Taco Bamba, and all the positive Yelp reviews convinced me to try this place out. I was in town for the weekend, so I got to try Taco Bamba twice, once for breakfast and once for dinner. There is a lot to praise about this establishment so why only 3 stars? Read on... Let's get the positive established first because there is a lot of it. Taco Bamba is a taco joint that features a bar and a party atmosphere. The music is thumping and the night I went for dinner there was a line that went right up to the door (about 10 people's worth of space) and it never quit the entire time I was there. The crowd was eclectic and the space was nicely decorated and clean. Seating ranged from bar seating to regular tables to high chairs at taller tables near the car. You go in, order from the cashier then proceed to a pick up counter on the other side of the restaurant. Near that is the soda machine and a bar with several different kinds of salsa ranging from mild to very spicy. There are small cups if you just want to drink water. It is a nice set up and I really liked the way the restaurant is intended to flow. I tried three items for dinner: The Jeneral, a taco featuring seared ahi tuna, sesame salsa macha, pickled ginger slaw, guacamole, esquites aioli, Fuego Taki Furikake, cabbage cup. This dish was fantastic. The tuna was perfectly cooked and the flavors were on point. Also, the structural integrity of the taco held up well. It's always sad when you take one bite of a taco and the whole bloody thing falls apart. This did not do that and I was very happy about that. I also tried two flavors of their wings. The buffalo flavored ones were okay, not the best, not the worst, just right in the middle. However, their dry rub wings were *fantastic*. They are grilled so they have a nice smokiness to the and the dry rub was wonderfully savory with a bit of a kick. I would order the dry rub wings again any time. So, what's the problem? Frankly it is service. After getting my receipt from the cashier, I went down to the end of the counter to wait for my food. And waited. And waited. I actually timed it after a while. From the time indicated on my receipt to the time I received my food, 28 minutes had gone by. Meanwhile, order numbers both before AND after me received their food. Now, 28 minutes is not bad if you're at a sit down restaurant but this is fast casual, not a steakhouse. And clearly they were able to get orders that came in before and after mine out, so it was frustrating that my order took so long. Now, I did indicate earlier in this review that they had a lot of people during the evening. Fair enough. The staff was definitely hustling in the kitchen and doing their best. So, let's go to the next morning when I went for breakfast. Yes, Taco Bambas has a really nice breakfast menu. I had the Huevos rancheros (tostadas, black beans, salsa ranchera, crema, cotija, cilantro, avocado & two fried eggs) which was *delicious* and I would eat it again any time. However, once again the service proved lacking. This time however, there were not scores of people waiting for food. It was just me and my friend and that's it. We were the only people in the place. And still, my food took almost 20 minutes to prepare. Indeed, they seemed to have completely forgotten about it until I walked up to the counter and asked where my food was (my friend had already finished most of her taco by the time I did this). They confessed that my ticket had apparently dropped to the floor and been swept up so they...forgot? Ignored my order? I don't know. I eventually got it but after the previous night's performance this was most frustrating. Taco Bambas has excellent food, a great atmosphere and I like the format. This is the worst management I have ever had to deal with. There was a mixup with our order which isn't the problem, things happen. But when the driver showed up to get our food for delivery, the manager said the order was not placed in their system. My question is, if there was no order, why was the driver there? Instead of admitting there may have been a problem, he insisted on arguing. There was no resolution or any suggestion of resolution. He did not offer an apology or any coupon for our troubles. That is NOT how you handle customers. And funny how we received a text that our order was canceled after we got off the phone with him. read more

Simply outstanding! My first time online/pickup order from here. Easy parking, walked in and out in 30 seconds. I got the Bon Chongo and Small Biggie Burger. Both were fabulous! Full of flavor and super-saucy (multiple napkins required -- not first date food!). The takeout order was ready on time, and handed over by a very friendly female staffer. Two little containers of salsa accompanied my order - but the tacos themselves were so flavorful, I did not need them (but the salsas are great! I am saving them for my lunch tomorrow). While not traditional tacos, the flavors and textures of these two unusual ones were spot-on. I will be back (and these two tacos were so good, I will probably order them again)! read more

Stopped by for dinner with a friend. I've visited this location before but took my food all the way home so I feel like a review featuring an experience where I'm dining in would make more sense. I don't know when the hype on this place is gonna die down, if ever. The line was almost to the door when we arrived but moved at a steady clip so our orders were both in at around 7pm. Be warned, between the jams blasting on the speakers and people & families from all walks of life, this place gets loud. Tables aren't terribly difficult to come across as they require good timing more than anything. It was about a 15 min wait for our food, not great but not terrible considering it was dinner time. I ordered the Mulita de Birria and 1 Greg's Jimmy taco. I was a bit leery of the lamb as sometimes it can be too gamey, but it was also my mistake to doubt Taco Bamba. Greg's Jimmy was a fairly standard take on a fish taco but I'm here to highlight something else. The birria tacos had splendid flavors and the consommé complemented it well, having enough flavor to enhance the experience without being too overpowering. The birria clears! The consommé hits! The opening of the consommé cup is questionably tiny considering the size of the tacos they're dishing out but I made it work, so you can too! My only regret was not ordering it twice. read more

I've been trying to take my partner to the Fairfax location but he refuses to drive more than 30mins for food. He ordered chips & guac, a taco bomba taco, and 2 Al pastor tacos dirty styled. Inhaled everything! I ordered taco de lengua dirty styled and the jeneral, loved both but traditional is better than dirty styled imo. We sat at the FULL SERVICE bar and also ordered their seasonal margarita (delicious!) and casamigos blanco. They just opened so it WILL be packed when you go, please be patient. The staff is amazing they're just slammed right now. But I think it's fair to say this is our new taco Tuesday spot. Such a strategic location for the Taco Bamba family and my family is loving it! We now live 5 mins away from a Taco Bamba and we are beyond excited. It is a great addition to the clock tower in Herndon. We had dinner here on their second day of opening and came back for lunch on the third day. Their second night of opening was busy. It was lines out the door an hour before closing time. Service was quick and amazing for opening week. Everyone was so friendly. The space was so organized, clean, and groovy. My only complaint is the loud music. I get that it's a lively atmosphere but the music was too loud. Even at 10 am in the morning, it was too loud. Food wise, it's everything we know and love about Taco Bamba. They don't skimp on the tortilla. The tacos are double the tortilla. I love their Mexican corn, spicy chicharrones, and this new calamari dish as their special for the clock tower location. The birria tacos are fantastic. The Jeneral with the ahi tuna, ginger slaw, guacamole, and sesame aioli was one of my favorite tacos. I also enjoyed the bamba cerviche which I haven't ordered before. She was nice but rang up items we didn't order.....chips and queso when we ordered chips and salsa. Sparklingly water instead of a margarita. It was odd. The food was good and makes a visit worth it. My first time having the clocktower calamari and it was everyone in my groups favorite menu item. The Korean chicken taco was also amazing. Perfect spice. The street corn and sope, meh pass. I have visited there other location in Virginia and was excited to hear they were opening a new location. This location is around the corner from house which may be a good and bad thing, lol. I went on a Saturday and the place was definitely busy, but the line moved fast. We all got something different to try and I got the torta cochabamba which was filing and delicious. There's plenty of seating inside and a smaller covered patio area to sit outside as well. I will definitely be coming back to try something off the breakfast menu next time. read more

Food is great! Prices aren't too bad as it's roughly $5 for a taco. The thing knocking it down a star is that it's not very family friendly. The music is crazy loud -- wish it was turned down. We have a newborn baby who can sleep through a lot but the music had her crying in a minute. Speaking of newborn baby, there's no changing tables in the bathroom. We sat outside which was nice and they brought the food to us, but wish more restaurants made it accessible to visit with a child. read more

Taco Bamba has been one of my go to spots since moving from California to Virginia. It's really challenging to find good Mexican style food in Virginia, but Taco Bamba adds their own element of authenticity and fusion for a perfect blend. I have had just about everything on their menu, and everything is fire. Today was my first day at the Herndon location (I usually go to Vienna or Fairfax). This place is really a vibe, from the layout, to the high energy, to the big bar! They have a full bar so we had to indulge in a few drinks. If you want something different, try the hibiscus margarita, but their house margarita on the rocks always does the trick for me! The bartenders were awesome and super helpful, even came to our table after to check if we liked our drinks. I ordered the taco bamba, pastor, and carne asada tacos for myself and my wife had two pastor and one taco bamba. We always like to order the bacho nachos with carne asada and a tip for you first timers, add nacho cheese and thank me later! Overall taco bamba never disappoints no matter what location it is. The ambiance cool, clean. Music playing is traditional reggaton. Just one purchase . The cooks does yell out the number so pay attention you might forget your order being called out. Waited for a good 10 minutes for 3 tacos, one a of carne asada, Lengua and chicken. Overall the tacos are traditional, original asada tacos and the lengua is not imitation. 4/5 service. Why is anyone going anywhere else in a Saturday morning for breakfast!? Got the chilaquiles and a torta with carnitas. Couldn't fit the torta into my mouth because it was gigantic but also so delightful and balanced in flavor with black beans and avocado and lettuce and etc etc etc. Cannot recommend more! The chilaquiles were tremendous. Crispy but also perfectly soaked in sauce and cheese and a fried egg. Oh man, their guac is super fresh paired with their house made salsa and perfectly seasoned tortilla chips. I got the birria taco dirty and it was so good but by far my favorite was their pastor taco...beautifully marinated and had a healthy amount of veggies to go with the meat in their flour tortilla. My husband got a steak quesadilla-also good, with more than expected helping of meat. In all, this will be our go to taco spot (FINALLY!! We found a great spot!!!) Made eye contact with a bartender who motioned he had two seats - yes, please! He was very nice, said I can make off menu drinks too. I believe chips come with your meal, we tried the guacamole which is a large portion. They have a salsa bar. It took quite some time for meal to come but that was okay, we had a seat and table service. All other seats (besides the bar) have to get their food and Alcohol drinks by numbers called. My favorite taco was the veggie one, shrimp was also wonderful and fresh. All were decent, shredded chicken a little dry. Husband really enjoyed carne asada tacos. Visited here today 5/9 after 6:50pm, for the first time, I'm not from the area and relocated and was looking for some good tacos. I found this spot and decided to stop in, only to receive the poorest customer service I have ever experienced since moving here. I sat at the bar and yes it was full, I was ignored for a good 10 minutes. The guy bartender continued to make drinks and clean glasses without acknowledging me at all, Never looked up or gave eye contact but was 3 feet from me. Directly in front of me!! The lady bartender was directly beside him and said nothing either, both acting as if they were to busy. Once the bar was empty and it was just me and about 3 other people. I was still not acknowledged. They told the guest beside me bye but still never asked if I needed anything. Smdh!! Like most people these days, I'm a big fan of tacos. Many places make them and usually overpriced. These come in at a good price and taste great. I was at the bar and from the time I ordered to the time they placed the 3 tacos in front of me it was under 3 minutes. Seriously impressed. They also had a great selection.
