    Taco Bowl with Pork Carnitas.
    Michael R.

First time on a recommendation and they did not disappoint. Happy Hour is 4-6 with reduced wine and margarita prices, plus some apps. We would recommend the chips and queso. The chips are fresh made and the queso is made with a white cheese, with added chilies and leaves you wanting more. I had the taco bowl and added pork carnitas. The carnitas were perfectly cooked, the beans were some of the best I have ever had, something unique in the flavor. Service was great. This is a quaint little gem that you might not know exists, but definitely worth checking out! We will be back for sure.

Taco + Bar is a great little spot with amazing handmade margaritas! You will be super satisfied with the house margarita, I think I had three! The cauliflower taco was good, the carnitas delicious, but the tinga was our favorite! Don't be discouraged by the prices of the tacos, the portions were large. They open up the entire side of the restaurant with garage doors, and were able to sit out into the parking lot to watch the sunset over Lake Michigan. The ambience was perfect. Quaint little place, super friendly staff. Give Taco + Bar a try, you will be happy to have found this little gem.

Finally got to try Holland's newest taco joint. Imagine a taco truck without the truck, add a hipster modern vibe and full bar, and you've got Taco + Bar. True to its name, it's a taco eatery and a bar. And it fits(ish) the west 8th Street scene a la Sperry's, Hopcat, and Seventy-Six. I say "ish" because, although it's on 8th, it's west of the Holland Farmer's Market/Civic Center, so you won't see it if you're walking the main drag. But it's tacos, and they're solid. I tried al pastor, carnitas, and their fish taco. All had decent flavor. The fish was saltier than I was expecting, but it didn't taste bad. And at about $4 a taco, they're neither cheap nor expensive. But the meat, cilantro, pineapple, etc. all were fresh, and I liked their soft corn tortillas which hold up well as you take each bite. Another reviewer mentioned the weird tasting margaritas, and she's right. It's unlike any margarita I've tasted--I want to say it's a bitter taste. Get your margaritas elsewhere and order Taco + Bar's paloma cocktail instead. Much better balance of ingredients. Save room for dessert, too, particularly the churros. Four freshly fried small churros with an irresistible chocolate dipping sauce. Perfectly shareable and it gives a wonderful sweetness to end your meal. Staff were all friendly and happy to be working. Support your local bizzes safely during the pandemic and eat up!

Yum. Brought a group of 9 ladies here for lunch after a day at the beach and matching tattoos. This is a cute establishment with indoor and outdoor seating. Service was phenomenal. Cocktails were great too. The food? Worth it. Chips, Quac, Queso, Tacos... order it all! Had to get some Taco + Bar t-shirts to document our experience too!

The taco bowl was delicious. The beer was good. This little restaurant is visually charming and seems bigger than it is since it has roll-up garage doors that let the outdoors in! Unfortunately, we suffered through the meal sitting in those awful, narrow, small, cheap metal chairs that ubiquitous. They are poorly designed and do not allow for a comfortable experience! Get rid of those chairs and watch your business soar!

Taco+Bar I don't know about you, but all of the cute taco places popping up in West Michigan make my heart SO happy! Taco + Bar is just a minute or two minute drive from the downtown area in Holland and is super adorable! The menu has an extensive amount of taco options and they even have taco BOWLS! (Why go to Qdoba or Chipotle when you can have a locally made taco bowl!) They have indoor and outdoor seating and the garage doors are normally open, so even if you are inside you get the outdoorsy patio feel! They have a super cute mural outside and inside you will find their bar with brews on tap! Also we would just like to say the simple taco + bar light up sign by the bar is SO CUTE! A couple of honorable mentions: -The chips and guac!! -Chicken Tacos -Al Pastor Tacos

Tonight I had the privilege to try out this new taco place in town! Right on 8th street towards Kollen Park, you cant miss the cute outdoor patio! Walk around the patio into the front door and the host will take your name and seat you or let you know how long the wait is. Seating is limited since it's not a large place. We were lucky to be seated right away out side and our server was absolutely amazing. Our drinks and snacks came out very quickly and our tacos were phenomenal. I loved the fried cauliflower taco the most. Highly recommend. I would love to come back and try out more of their alcoholic beverages sometime soon as they have plenty of good options. Check this place out before summer ends! You won't regret it:)

Excellent food and service. Small but the food and cocktails are excellent. We tried a variety of tacos including blackened fish, Al pastor and cactus. They were delicious. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Great tacos, great drinks, and good music. I would recommend this cute little bar anytime! The bar stools are a little uncomfortable but the rest is a great experience.

You can go to their website to get on the email list for the password each week or you can go to the host stand at Butch's and ask if there is available seating "downstairs". The two times I've done this, the host always understands. They pick up the phone and call downstairs to see if there's any open spots and let us go down there. There are stairs or you can take the elevator to the basement level. After you've arrived downstairs you can find the door with the black lock symbol and KNOCK THREE TIMES. They will let you in and welcome you to find a seat. They have a water station where you can help yourself and some tables and a couch and bar seating. The menu is pretty fantastic. I haven't had a drink that I dislike yet! The prices are a bit elevated but that's okay for a fancy drink imo. Hope you check out this gem if you're ever in Holland and want to go on a little adventure to find this place! It's next door to their sister restaurant, Lovejoy. Walking in, the space is very dimly lit with a nice bar and some cozy seating. We were directed to a couch and a couple of low chairs. The menu is organized into different "chapters," with different themes for each chapter. They also have beer, wine, spirit-free options, and a spirits list. I wanted something fun, so I chose the Don the Beachcomber, a rum-based tiki cocktail that is flamed tableside. My friend got the Obstacle No. 1, which is a bourbon drink that they smoke at your table. Very theatrical and fun! These drinks were $20+ so pretty pricey, but worth it for a fun occasion. We had a nice time just relaxing and catching up. I would say it's not a great spot for a large group, but definitely a fun date night place. They have a small food menu of offerings from the restaurant next door that sounded tasty. We had just eaten but I'd be interested in their small plates. I'm so glad I got to experience this place. We arrived at 9:45pm and were seated at a cute, cozy little couch and table setup. The hostess handed us both a drink menu and a separate food menu. Looking through it, I was thrilled to see quite an expansive cocktail list broken down by "chapters," as well as several small snack options clearly marked with a gluten-free (GF) label. Unfortunately, the experience was a bit disappointing once we tried to order. Despite the online hours stating the venue closes at 11:00pm our server informed us that the kitchen was already closed. There is no indication online of what time the kitchen closes, and it was incredibly disappointing to be handed a dedicated food menu by the hostess only to be told moments later we couldn't order anything. When I asked our server for recommendations and which specific cocktails were gluten-free, she mentioned she was new and had to go check. She returned about 10 minutes later, only to give a vague answer that "most drinks were gluten-free" without offering an actual recommendation or helpful suggestion. My husband ended up ordering a non-alcoholic drink, but between the kitchen confusion and the lackluster service, I opted not to get anything at all. It's a cool venue with a lot of potential, but they should put their kitchen hours online and better train their staff on the menu.

The restaurant was clean, had nice seating and decor. The service was extremely slow--waiter forgot multiple drinks when they did finally deliver some at our table, requiring reordering. Our waiter did not express that the kitchen was out of fries to the whole party, and substituted rice without checking with the guest first. Unfortunately, rice isn't a substitution that we would have ordered for ourselves. The Caesar Salad, photo included, was literally only shredded iceberg lettuce and croutons. Menu states "lettuce, black pepper, Parmesan, Caesar Dressing". When the guest asked for Parmesan, we were provided packets of grated Parmesan. Certainly do not recommend this "Caesar Salad". Also had an order of Mac and Cheese, also has photo included, high likelihood this was a TV meal Mac and Cheese product. It was barely warm, and mediocre at best. Also would not suggest ordering the Boneless Wings, as they were overcooked and sauce was not tossed on them when served. Typically don't write reviews, but feels necessary due to our poor experience and disappointing food and service. I wouldn't suggest Tulip City Brewstillery.

Our waitress was really nice and overall service was quick. We ordered the Lemon Chicken and the Wedge Salad. The reason why I'm giving this restaurant 3 stars is mainly because of the chicken dish. I was expecting it to be more citrusy, but I feel like whatever lemon flavor it was meant to have was lost by some sort of sweetness. I think the Meyer lemon butter made the dish was so oddly sweet it mixed in with the rice underneath. Overall, this dish was sadly disappointing since we were looking forward to something savory and herby but got what felt like a sugar bomb for chicken. The salad was good and loaded with toppings, however, I felt like there was way too much dressing that drowned the salad once it was all mixed. If possible, I would get the dressing on the side. All in all, great ambiance, good service and a wonderful location. Perhaps I just ordered the wrong things. Still worth checking out, if you're in the area!

No one was there but the owner picked up the phone and was able to arrange a great table for us right in the bar area! Walking in I was immersed in the moody and dark space, brightened by pops of red and other Asian accents. The bar is beautiful and the bartender was hard at work cranking out cocktails. Lindsay was our server, and she was an absolute breath of fresh air, clearly passionate about her role in providing the guest experience, and frankly, she made all the difference in our experience. It all started when she saw our boys sitting at the low two top and offered them a private dining experience right next to us! They downed so much sushi, I nearly had to take out a second mortgage, but I'd happily pay it over and over to see the looks on their faces at 5 and 8 again! To say that a core memory was made that night is a massive understatement, as we have not stopped hearing about this since we returned and my son even made my mother walk him back to the restaurant the next day just to see if he could say hi! She took incredible care of the grown ups too. Helped with menu selections, addressed all requests swiftly and handled any issues with actual regard for the feedback being provided, which is becoming more and more rare in today's industry. On the food, we ordered most the apps including wings, green beans, cucumbers, shrimp, and spring rolls, and then we added the crab noodles, yellow curry and a few sushi rolls. The cucumbers and green beans stole the show, with the shrimp and crab noodles not too far behind. The sushi was decent, but I found the rice a bit gummy and didn't really get a sense of each element within them. The wings and curry were a bit bland for my liking but the wings benefitted by the additional sauce with them. The curry needed a bit more heat, fish sauce, and maybe a hit of vinegar. As someone who LOVES Asian food, this satisfied the itch after mainly eating American food for so many days, but I'd realistically rate it a 3.5 stars, especially considering the price and value. I'd happily return on my next visit to Saugatuck and suggest it to friends too. Keep crushing the service game!
