Many parking spaces. Ordering Online - unfortunately the link from Yelp opened a sketchy website. Once I went to their site from Google, I ordered. It was simple with many categories - birria has their own category if you are looking for a quesabirria, birria taco, or birria pizza. Inside - We were greeted by a host with the biggest smile with menus in his hand and asked if we were dining in for two. It is a little darker inside due to the furniture used. I have not personally ate inside but Order - We ordered a steak quesadilla, Carne Asada taco, birria taco, and a regular sized horchata. The birria taco was 7/10, it could have used more of the birria sauce. Horchata: 10/10. I ordered the regular sized for $3.99, and was $3.00+ more for a large. Steak quesadilla had a nice crisp to the shell. Came with chips and salsa. Carne asada taco looked good but got a bit messy when I unraveled it from the tinfoil. read more

Wanted to try this place out since we were visiting. We paid around $60 for two taco Dinners that had no flavor, were soggy and cheeh. the beans were still whole in the refried beans and they were chunky. The guac had no flavor at all, very disappointing. read more

The only reason I gave this place one star is for the most part, we did get what we ordered. That's where the compliments stop. Drinks were horrible- a skinny margarita is simply a watered down drink. Next for the food- be sure to take your own hot sauce, salt, limes and maybe a jar of salsa. If all that will fit in your purse it will be worth your time. I have never in my life had a more tasteless guacamole. We actually fished our limes out of our drinks and stole a salt shaker off of another table to give it a little boost. I agree with one of the other reviews- Taco Bell is much better!. Most of the food was cold, sizzling fajitas are not sizzling. Bathrooms were nasty and after our meal, they were a necessity!! Pretty good! We were in town and stopped for lunch. It's your typical Mexican restaurant inside - bright colors, mariachi music. The staff was friendly and the service was FAST! The first thing Nate noticed when walking up to Taqueria Vallarta is that it used to be a Long John Silvers. The inside is not recognizable as a Long John Silvers at all, but the little turret on the roof gives that away. We were meeting a family member who was already seated, but the restaurant is pretty small. Our server was quick and efficient but it took us a bit to review the menu, which is several pages. Complimentary chips and salsa were already on the table, and we placed our order. I got the enchiladas rancheras trio, which comes with one bean, one chicken, and one cheese enchilada with rice. Nate got the steak and cheese burrito. The food came out super fast, like within 5 minutes fast! Everything was hot and fresh too. The enchiladas were good, pretty standard. I had a few bites of the steak and cheese burrito, which was really good! The steak was tender and very flavorful. They have a full bar and sell margarita towers, which are 88 ounces! Great place! It wasn't super busy when we arrived but quickly filled up. Service was quite speedy and our server checked on us multiple times. Why did it take 34 years to experience what a Molcajete is all about? Chicken, steak, shrimp, chorizo and mexican cactus topped with oaxaca cheese and jalapeños in an authentic volcanic stone bowl -- say less, por favor. Layers upon layers of proteins and flavors. What an incredible dish! Also couldn't say no to quesabirria either. Marinated beef, cheese and onions made this completely full of flavor. My group had a great time at Taqueria Vallarta. It may appear like a standard Mexican restaurant but this place definitely boasts authentic elevated food. Will definitely return when back in Michigan. read more

There's something special about finding a Mexican restaurant that's different in west Michigan. So many follow a formula, albeit successful, it's nice to break out. Taqueria Vallarta does just that in the best possible way. Yes, all your favorites are there, but with some nice additions, some twists on classics and no shortage of spice or flavor. Nothing was bland. Nothing felt like the "white guy" version of what we really want. I got a steak and cheese burrito and it had nice spice! Covered in queso, with verde it was punchy, fresh and super cheesy. My wife got a chicken and steak burrito and I just confess, hers was better. Spicier, and with more fresh greens but both were excellent. Even our toddlers quesadilla with refried beans was exceptional. Where the lose a star is the dining room. It dark and very loud. Throw some college students in there (next door is Hope college), a couple drinks or a sporting event on the tv and you can't hear yourself think. Service was great. Very clean and parking was easy. We loved this place! This is a small restaurant with super friendly staff, good food, great prices and the best drinks. There were so many options available, it took us a bit to decide and order. First we chose drinks - various sizes and flavors of Margaritas, beer, or wine. I don't recall a full bar. The food was out hot and fresh, in large portions. I would give 3.5 if I could. There wasn't anything wrong specifically, it's just "okay". Probably not the best Mexican food you can find in the area, but serviceable. We went coincidentally on Cinco de Mayo, not really thinking of that affecting the experience until we were on our way. Incidentally, it was also Hope College graduation and the 1st day of Tulip Time... so it was crazy downtown. Somehow we got right in and got a table with no wait. Despite everything happening, there didn't seem to be a wait the whole time we were there for lunch. Not a huge place, it was an old Long John Silver's. The staff was moving around rapidly and the food came out fast. They had a "special" menu for Cinco and Mother's Day, it was only 1 page and the regular menu was not offered (I am assuming it was not the regular menu, as choices were limited and it had the events listed on it). I haven't seen the regular menu, but the prices looked to be increased... either that or their prices are high compared to other similar restaurants. I got the burrito Jalisco which had basically everything in it- steak, chicken, shrimp, cheese sauce, and pineapple. Yeah, pineapple! It sounded strange, so I got it. It was fine and cooked decently. The horchata was good. Overall given my dish and looking at those of my guests, it looks to be Americanized Mexican food. Sterotypically, one might say it's catering to West Michigan tastes perhaps. I personally prefer less of a Tex-Mex and more toward what people call "authentic", so this isn't my top choice. I wouldn't go out of my way to return, but also wouldn't throw a fit if someone chose it as a meal destination. Might be worth it for me to come back when it's not a holiday. read more

Authentic Mexican style food here in west Michigan. Taqueria Vallarta has a cozy feel of a Latin restaurant from the moment you walk in. We were promptly seated and welcomed by our server who showed us to our table. The menu as you can see is extensive and many traditional Tx-Mex and local Jalisco style dishes with shrimp and different sauces from western Mexico. From someone who frequently visits PUERTA Vallarta for which the restaurant is undoubtedly called this was a nice mid winter break. I found LENGUA on the menu so had to order it which is beef tongue. When you find it try it it is very tender. My daughter found horchata on the menu and tried that...very nice and authentic along with their enchiladas. Overall a great experience! read more

First time trying based on my sister's recommendation. And I have to say: I was not impressed. Walking in the door, first impression: the place was freezing! My brother and I kept our coats on the entire meal and looking around, we weren't the only ones. Service was friendly, but a bit slow. Seemed a bit understaffed. Food was underwhelming. My tacos were passable; nothing I would come out of my way for. My sister got the wrong plate of food but they did correct this quickly. My brother had the enchiladas and thought they were just ok. Based on Yelper reviews, a road trip to Holland was in order to try Taqueria Vallarta. Surprisingly busy on a late summer Sunday night, but it became clear why when we dug into the food. A huge menu leads to difficult choices. Superb freshly-fried corn chips and just the right amount of heat in the salsa. Four people had different entrees and all were very pleased. Very generous entree size; we should not have ordered an appetizer. Excellent margaritas and I enjoyed the Dos Equis Amber! Ask to sit in Jaime's section and you will have a good time. Special celebrations mean the honored guest wears a sombrero while being serenaded (had to check spelling for that word)! Look for the blue metal roof on east 8th street (likely a former Long John Silver seafood restaurant) and enjoy! Check the "Coupons" item on their web page to save a few bucks. Also, their drink specials on the menu are priced really well! read more

They claim to have a California burrito which is the furthest burrito from the real thing. Ground beef instead of carne asada. Random chicken added. NO french fries (which makes it a CA burrito). Also topped with a weird sauce and cheese like cream. As someone from California, give this thing a new name because it is not accurate. read more

This was one of the most disappointing Mexican meals I have ever had. I have to wonder if they could benefit from reducing their menu, it's HUGE. Maybe bring it down to fewer options and really try to do those things well. Easily the worst Mexican in Holland. Flour "shells", wilted lettuce, unseasoned meat, and New York City salsa. It was the first time I've been so disappointed with food, I took one bite and threw it out. This is the Russ' of Mexican, don't waste your money. Taco Bell is more authentic and flavorful. We waited 1.5 hours for our food. The server had to be asked 3 times to bring us water. One of our party had to get our own silverware because they didn't bring them no matter how much we asked, even when our food came. Our waiter never checked on us, so we had to ask another waiter for quac. He just said "I don't know." Another in our party saw our waiter and tried waving him down, he looked at her and turned around. Then when he finally came to our table to get our plates, he called me stupid. We had watched several tables get seated, served, and left before we had our food, including a group of 10. When we talked to the owner, he just said he had been in the kitchen all night. No apologies or anything. Just very defensive. The food was good, but not worth this super weird experience. Never going back! read more
