I don't think we were correctly charged for our order, but I didn't feel like holding up the line so I paid. My son's entree and my entree were comparable in price but his entree was way larger. He was able to eat in two different sessions.

I reviewed the menu, selected my previous favorite, and was ready to order. The employee working on someone else's burrito, told me to step by "Order Here" sign multiple times. I wasn't able to advance anywhere near the cash register. She then said something completely unclear multiple times and kept up wrapping her burrito. No "I'll be right with you," just mumbling. A second associate then joined her behind the counter. They then proceeded to socialize with each other and completely ignored me. There was no attempts to take my order, complete checkout, or anything. There was no estimated wait time. I'm almost certain that no customer will hang out at the burrito place all afternoon hoping to place an order. Finally I asked whether I can place an order. Both associates looked at me with surprise like it's an unusual question. Even after asking there was zero progress made with starting my order. I decided that this is my cue to understand that I'm unwelcome and leave. While the concept of beach-inspired Mexican cuisine with tropical flavors is fun, it's not fun enough to wait forever for. I won't be stopping in again. I'm sharing this experience in hopes of other customers receiving a more courteous experience.

The fajitas, while hot and colorful, had absolutely no spice. It tasted like sautéed chicken with salt and pepper. No cumin, no chile, no cayenne...nothing. And there wasn't a jalapeno or lime to be seen anywhere in the entire place. Come on... Nope...this is not the benchmark. This is Mexican food with a midwestern spice profile. If the chefs get confused over one order of fajitas, they have a long way to go before they can attain the coveted title of Tacologist. Two stars are being provided because I'm in a good mood today. Terrible quality, service issues, long wait. It's nothing like the original Barrio. Like I'd love to support local and Barrio, but it's now consistently a horrible experience. This time, I arrived during the early afternoon when the place was almost empty. Ordered queso blanco, sassy pineapple drink, and tacos. Sassy pineapple was extremely diluted equivalent to drinking water. I don't know how serving something so watered down is acceptable. I waited patiently for tacos and received unexpected tacos - 3 instead of 4, hard shell instead of soft shell, very soupy. I don't know how the order derailed because there were only a handful of people in the establishment. The order was most certainly not mine, but they never found the original owner. The wait staff was nowhere to be found so when they eventually arrived, I just asked to pay out and refused the order of tacos. There was no "sorry" or offer to fix it. I went next door and supported another restaurant. When I announced to them I'll be doing that, they were very supportive. Barrio is just a huge disappointed. Wait time and service friendliness improved a tad bit but the quality is just awful. No offer for service recovery, no attentiveness, wrong orders and terrible drinks. I won't be dining here again. The traditional was supposed to be an authentic taco, but it didn't taste anything like it. I got it with beef and the marinade was super salty. The fired up taco had too many things going on for me to really enjoy it. The big shrimpin was the only one that I liked, but I don't know if I'd go again just for it. My girlfriend, her friend, and I were on our way to the Larkin Poe show at nearby Cain Park and decided to stop in first. Inside, we stepped into a tiny, cozy dining room--more postage stamp than restaurant--washed in bright Caribbean colors that seemed to glow under the lights. The walls, the warmth, the close quarters all gave the place an easy, island feel, as if Ohio had briefly slipped away. The music sealed it. Rhythms from Kes, Tano, and Full Blown rolled through the room, lively and unmistakable, bouncing off the walls and threading through the chatter. Every detail--the beat, the spice in the air, the easy laughter, the genuine hospitality--worked together so naturally that we couldn't help smiling. Before the first plate even arrived, it already felt like we'd been whisked off to Trinidad and Tobago. I ordered a side of jerk wings, my GF ordered fish tacos, amd her friend a burrito. I just asked for no fish and he then asked if goat was fine. I was hoping for chicken in my box, but I didn't want to be too needy haha! I paid for a personal pie as well and head out, looking at my box once I got to my car. I was happy to see a generous portion of rice and beans but was a bit bummed that one of the two sides I should have gotten was missing. See picture. Upon getting home, I ate my "mysterious meal" and while I enjoyed the curry goat, rice and beans, and curried chana, I would have definitely chosen different things for myself, like the mac and cheese and the bone in chicken! Ah well. I guess I'll have to go back! I did enjoy the goat more than I thought I would have! Sadly, the pie crust of the sweet potato pie I got ($3.50) had that freezer taste. The filling itself was good but I was disappointed by the too long in the fridge taste of the crust. It was also a little too expensive for its size. Would not recommend.
