    Chicken Fajitas for 2
    Krista J.

I'm a lover of great Mexican food. It can be difficult to find something consistently delicious in this area, but Cozumel hasn't disappointed. 1. Great service- I've been here three times since they opened and each waiter has been attentive, personable, and made menu suggestions. I made sure to pay attention to the interactions occurring between staff and other tables - it seemed consistent. Our order also came out in great time. 2. Flavors- we ordered the chicken fajitas for Two and it was flavorful and a humungous portion. The seasoning was on point and the star for me was the refried beans. I like them but I've never loved them. My girlfriend and I were both amazed at the light flavor and seasoning of the beans. 3. Happy hour- I ordered a margarita and it was at a discount and strong- definitely worth the buy. Their happy hour doesn't have many food items but prices are already reasonable

So good!! One of the best Mexican restaurants I have ever had. I would definitely recommend the chicken taquitos

Monday margaritas? Count me in! We started with a fundido cheese dip that was nothing short of heavenly--rich and creamy, especially after it was perfectly mixed. I can't recall the name of the burrito I ordered, but let me tell you, it was absolutely delightful, bursting with a tasty combination of rice and savory meat. We snagged seats at the bar, and the service was top-notch, making the whole experience that much more enjoyable!

I went on a Friday with my cousins. It was my first time. Ricky at the front sat us was soon as we got in the door. We got our food immediately. I had the birria tacos meal along with the frozen margarita flight. So delicious!

Left before we even ordered. Beef in the salsa, dirty glasses, dirty in general - overall an incredibly disappointing experience.

The chunky guacamole with corn was delicious and the classic margarita was the best I've tasted outside of Mexico.

Very sadly, I just saw that the two other locations are closing immediately, just 1 day after our Valentine's Day dinner at the Larchmere location - now officially, the only one left standing. The Lakewood Barroco was in my top 5 favorite restaurants in all of Cleveland and I am super bummed. I hope this last location will stay open for a very long time. As for the Barroco food, it was superb. We went all out and tried a few things on the menu. We aren't big drinkers but I sipped on a strawberry mojito with lots of real strawberries throughout ($14) and my bf enjoyed the "Iguana," a pretty little rum cocktail ($12). We shared the shrimp device and tostones appetizer ($18). The tostones reminded me of a structurally sound latke, or potato pancake! Our shrimp ceviche was doused in lemon juice and mixed with lots of healthy vegetables. This was large enough to be an entree for a healthy eater! However, we still had lots of room in our tummies and we each got our own main dish. I stuck to the arepa and yucca fries combo I love so much, although I switched it up and ordered a different arepa than my usual. I liked my "Ropa Vieja," or braised beef arepa ($22), fine but I prefer my usual pulled pork arepa much much more. The braised beef arepa was like a sloppy Joe in an arepa. Made for pretty good leftovers though! My beloved was feeling adventurous and treated himself to a nice and fatty cut of the Carne Asada and Calentado entree ($38). After tax and tip, our bill was a hefty $130 for the two of us. I'd say that the food, the service, and the ambiance made it worth it though and I hope it continues to stay open so we can come back!!

Terrible quality, service issues, long wait. It's nothing like the original Barrio. Like I'd love to support local and Barrio, but it's now consistently a horrible experience. This time, I arrived during the early afternoon when the place was almost empty. Ordered queso blanco, sassy pineapple drink, and tacos. Sassy pineapple was extremely diluted equivalent to drinking water. I don't know how serving something so watered down is acceptable. I waited patiently for tacos and received unexpected tacos - 3 instead of 4, hard shell instead of soft shell, very soupy. I don't know how the order derailed because there were only a handful of people in the establishment. The order was most certainly not mine, but they never found the original owner. The wait staff was nowhere to be found so when they eventually arrived, I just asked to pay out and refused the order of tacos. There was no "sorry" or offer to fix it. I went next door and supported another restaurant. When I announced to them I'll be doing that, they were very supportive. Barrio is just a huge disappointed. Wait time and service friendliness improved a tad bit but the quality is just awful. No offer for service recovery, no attentiveness, wrong orders and terrible drinks. I won't be dining here again. I'm sorry to see the establishment deteriorate and hope the ownership improves the experience. Cedar Fairmount has plenty of quality restaurants. I'm sorry to say that Barrio isn't one. Terrible decline. Support other restaurants in the area, skip this one

In town for a visit to Cleveland Clinic, I came here expecting to find the benchmark for all of tacology; how all other tacos are measured. But...there was no actual Tacologist. There was no science, let alone anything that I would refer to as a benchmark. When I arrived, I was seated and noted that I was one of three active tables in the entire restaurant. It was a slow day, as it had been raining much of the day. Beside me, there was a table of five ladies that had probably enjoyed happy hour a shade too much, and a couple who appeared to be having drinks. In other words, there was no excuse for the slow service and lack of attention I received during my meal. The staff was non existent. On to the food. I had guacamole as an appetizer, however it was brought out with my main course. I was told there was a mix up due to shift change. OK...a mixup with three tables and I am the only one ordering food? For my entree, I ordered the chicken fajitas. At least they came out piping hot! The guacamole was actually quite good. In fact, I should have ordered that and called it a day. The fajitas, while hot and colorful, had absolutely no spice. It tasted like sautéed chicken with salt and pepper. No cumin, no chile, no cayenne...nothing. And there wasn't a jalapeno or lime to be seen anywhere in the entire place. Come on... Nope...this is not the benchmark. This is Mexican food with a midwestern spice profile. If the chefs get confused over one order of fajitas, they have a long way to go before they can attain the coveted title of Tacologist. Two stars are being provided because I'm in a good mood today. The lack of effort is evident in the staff and the food. It's too bad, because this place has real potential.

He looked up with a broad grin and, in a warm Trinidadian accent, waved us toward an open spot beside the building. His welcome was so easy and sincere it felt less like arriving at a restaurant and more like being invited into someone's home. My girlfriend, her friend, and I were on our way to the Larkin Poe show at nearby Cain Park and decided to stop in first. Inside, we stepped into a tiny, cozy dining room--more postage stamp than restaurant--washed in bright Caribbean colors that seemed to glow under the lights. The walls, the warmth, the close quarters all gave the place an easy, island feel, as if Ohio had briefly slipped away. The music sealed it. Rhythms from Kes, Tano, and Full Blown rolled through the room, lively and unmistakable, bouncing off the walls and threading through the chatter. Every detail--the beat, the spice in the air, the easy laughter, the genuine hospitality--worked together so naturally that we couldn't help smiling. Before the first plate even arrived, it already felt like we'd been whisked off to Trinidad and Tobago. I ordered a side of jerk wings, my GF ordered fish tacos, amd her friend a burrito. I haven't had jerk this deliciously hot since my days at Brooklyn College and stopping on Flatbush for Jamaican food--but this was the first time a meal in Cleveland made me feel like I'd been dropped straight into Trinidad and Tobago. I will definitely be back for more. Save your appetite--this is the kind of meal that is truly memorable.

It has been on my want to try list for a while and, thanks to Too Good To Go, I snagged a mystery box of leftovers for $7.50 (retail states it is worth $21). It was hard to find a parking spot but once I did, I went inside to pick up my order. I was the only one inside but soon enough, the owner came out to greet me and pack up my surprise order. I just asked for no fish and he then asked if goat was fine. I was hoping for chicken in my box, but I didn't want to be too needy haha! I paid for a personal pie as well and head out, looking at my box once I got to my car. I was happy to see a generous portion of rice and beans but was a bit bummed that one of the two sides I should have gotten was missing. See picture. Upon getting home, I ate my "mysterious meal" and while I enjoyed the curry goat, rice and beans, and curried chana, I would have definitely chosen different things for myself, like the mac and cheese and the bone in chicken! Ah well. I guess I'll have to go back! I did enjoy the goat more than I thought I would have! Sadly, the pie crust of the sweet potato pie I got ($3.50) had that freezer taste. The filling itself was good but I was disappointed by the too long in the fridge taste of the crust. It was also a little too expensive for its size. Would not recommend. I'll pick up a mystery box again in the future for sure, but I doubt I'll get a dessert again.

The employee working on someone else's burrito, told me to step by "Order Here" sign multiple times. I wasn't able to advance anywhere near the cash register. She then said something completely unclear multiple times and kept up wrapping her burrito. No "I'll be right with you," just mumbling. A second associate then joined her behind the counter. They then proceeded to socialize with each other and completely ignored me. There was no attempts to take my order, complete checkout, or anything. There was no estimated wait time. I'm almost certain that no customer will hang out at the burrito place all afternoon hoping to place an order. Finally I asked whether I can place an order. Both associates looked at me with surprise like it's an unusual question. Even after asking there was zero progress made with starting my order. I decided that this is my cue to understand that I'm unwelcome and leave. While the concept of beach-inspired Mexican cuisine with tropical flavors is fun, it's not fun enough to wait forever for. I won't be stopping in again. I'm sharing this experience in hopes of other customers receiving a more courteous experience.
