While waiting they informed me they…read morewere voted best in the area for their burgers, so if you have a craving for one give it a try! I got their special "sushi grade ahi tuna with pineapple slaw". The flavors of the taco were top notch and the price was decent for the size of the tacos. Everyone was extremely friendly and accomodati g as well. Plus, tacos on the beach...you can't go wrong! My rational for the four of five stars is that the overall taco had everything it needed to be phenomenal, but fell a little short. When I think of ahi tuna I think of a tight sear, this was cubbed and cooked tuna that probably didn't need to be sushi grade. A few thin slices of a tight seared tuna would have greatly enhanced these tacos. Additionally, the slaw was made from broccoli, which is great being a firm texture to counter the soft pineapple; however, the prep of the slaw included some very fibrous bits that needed to be removed while chewing. To recap, I will for sure be hitting up this taco shack before we leave again. It is a breath of fresh air in a gallery of fried food.

And, being tired of Joseph's and Big Daddy's I thought I'd go back and see my gal at T&T for a quick bite. "OMG, lookie who here, we'll, if it ain't Foo!" said Lupita when I walked in. "Grab yourself a seat at the bar you sight for sore eyes!" "Doll, you're always a precious flower, how the heck are you?" "Just making some Tacos and Tails love for the community and having a blast!" So, I pulled up to the bar and ordered a ceviche and some taquitos. The taquitos weren't on the menu but that's okay. The margaritas are the bomb and so delish and strong. When I was finishing my meal and drinks I asked the bartender what the weather was going to be like this evening and tomorrow. She said, "Hey Foo, it's gonna be chili tonight and hot tamale!"

We come to Old Orchard Beach just about every year, and have for ages, as our family vacations nearby and the kids love the rides at Palace Playland. You find the usual burgers/hot dogs/fries stands and pizza joints, but my husband and I love Mexican food and decided to give this one a try a few years back. These are some of the freshest and most flavorful tacos I've ever eaten. You get 2 tacos for $12. Each one has meat of your choice, lettuce, pico de gallo, cheese, rice, black beans, and sour cream (which I have them omit). The taco is like a mini-burrito, and the tortilla comes grilled, which adds a lovely toasty flavor and some extra crunch to the texture. The pair of tacos is served with a helping of tortilla chips, which taste like they're house-made. I've paid more for less (and worse) food. The only bad thing about this food is the last bite. And knowing that we have to wait a whole year before we get to eat it again. Also, Tortilla Sunrise is showing up as closed, and I just ate there this evening, so I can assure you that it is not.

The food continues to impress every time. We started with the Banana Republic cocktail -- a creative mix of rye, sweet vermouth, plantain oleo, allspice, Banane du Bresil, and walnut bitters -- before sharing the Fruit Guacamole with mixed chips, Yucca Fritas, Mixto Ceviche with sea bass, and the outstanding Scallop Aguachile. We finished with the flan, which was the perfect ending to the meal. Pacifico remains one of our favorite spots for a romantic evening out.

We had reservations at 6:30 on a Saturday. We walked in and stood by the hostess desk/entrance. We probably were there for a solid 10 minutes before someone came to the front. There were probably 4 tables with guests. Not a single waiter or even bartender acknowledged us to even say they'll be with us in a minute. We get seated and order drinks. Our group waited about 30 minutes just for our drinks. We were told the bartender was chilling the glasses. Not sure if they ran out of glasses or if they forgot our order. We were able to order our food at that point. We decided on Yucas Fritas and Tostada de Camarones. The Camarones were fresh but the flavor profile wasn't anything out of this world. The Yucas Fritas were interesting as they gave a whipped cheese. We never had yucca fries that way. For mains, the table got Arroz Frito for two and the Picada. The rice was HUGE. I will say the portion could probably feed 4, easily. The only issue was the rice was so dry and salty. We had a few bites and couldn't eat it. The Picada was overall pretty good except the carne asada was overcooked. Not sure if I'd come back for the food but would definitely come for drinks.

That's on me, though, because this is an excellent local restaurant run by a great family. And it says something that they have been around for so long and have even survived (And expanded!) through COVID. The front counter area is a bit crowded and busy because the door opens right up into it. It's efficient but it does mean making your selection and order can be a little awkward if there are others waiting. After the counter, though, there's plenty of space inside to sit down and there are even several tables outside along the building. The food was great. Like I said, it had been a while for me, so I decided to keep it simple and go for a few tacos. I will say that $6-$6.50 feels steep for a single taco. However, I have watched and listened to many chefs say that the idea that Mexican food should be quick and cheap is a huuuge misconception. So, while I'm no food expert, I think that's something to consider, and of course I understand that prices these days for raw materials have increased considerably. Ultimately it's certainly not a cost prohibitive level at this point. I had the Pollo con Mole (Chicken with mole sauce), Taco al Pastor (Pork and pineapple), and the Barbacoa (BBQ goat) Tacos. My favorite by far was the goat. I'm a sucker for Tacos al Pastor so that was good, and the chicken with mole was great. I got an extra order of chips because I didn't realize the tacos came with chips. So heads up on that if you want some chips with your meal. One of the things I was most excited about was the Agua Fresca. Basically it's a fruit juice. They make those and horchata (rice milk) in house with rotating flavors. The agua fresca was strawberry when I got it and it was absolutely delicious. I definitely need to keep Taco Trio in mind the next time I'm hungry for some takeout. They should not be missed!
