I really wanted to give this place a higher rating. I've eaten birria tacos at I don't know how many different locations over the past few years, but this was probably the one location where I was not sure if they were actually those type of tacos. While the meat was good, it lacked the flavor that you're used to. The consommé that they gave me was probably maybe 2 ounces; I really couldn't dip my tacos in it. My tacos were extremely soft even though I watched them cook them, but they didn't fry them up hard enough. There wasn't really any melted cheese on my tacos, and the beans and rice they gave me had to have been sitting out for a while. Not that the food wasn't good. It had flavor. The presentation was off and it wasn't as tasty as I expected. The price wasn't bad for three tacos, beans and rice and consommé, with tax it came to about $16. I just expected it to be a lot more delicious.

My food took an hour to come out, everyone's food came out 20 minutes prior to mine. I ate in a group and a few orders were also wrong. Once my food came out I barely could eat! So bland and unseasoned! This was not Hispanic food! Not even good enough to take home. THE FOOD: wow I started making loaded fajita tacos with 3 tortillas and luckily the sour cream could mask then taste of the steak. The veggies were fresh but once they were gone, tasting solely the fajitas it was near intolerable. Very bloody tasting and unseasoned. Next I went to my rice but oh god... I had to spit it out. It tasted like sand. Old, moist rice that looked appealing but don't be mistaken.... TO IMPROVE: make better food, better service, work with your kitchen, ask employees to smile more and not look mad and rude. More music? Improve service.

It is my humble opinion that the more ambiance a Mexican place has, odds are that the food will suffer. This is not always the case, but more often than not, I find that the fancier the place, the food suffers more. I went up to the food truck and scanned the menu. Let me start out by saying that their tacos on corn tortillas was $2.50. Quite a bargain. I got three tacos and was charged $7.50. The woman at the one side took my money and almost instantaneously, another woman handed me my tacos. I opted for a carne asada taco,a carnitas taco, and a chorizo taco. They were pretty well packed with meat, especially for the relatively low price point (some might even say downright cheap). They were also pretty tasty. I also liked the salsas that came with my tacos. I will say that I preferred the red salsa over the green salsa, but both were very good. Fire Tacos was definitely a pretty good choice if you are in the Sarasota, Florida area or if you are passing through (the truck is not located far off of Interstate 75). I'm originally from San Diego so my expectations are real high but this place hit the spot. We had a few different kinds of frozen margaritas and I never get fajitas but it was looking and smelling good seeing it on other peoples table and the flavors were very much there. This standalone restaurant is on a busy road, but has plenty of parking and a little lake next to the lot. It's big but cozy, with a fun decor-lots of booths and tables in two different rooms plus a bar to belly up to. My server was sweet and attentive-but didn't hover. She had perfect timing. The complimentary chips were warm and the salsa had just a little kick to it-good combo. I had to order the white queso dip... I mean, who am I if I don't try the queso? It was silky and comforting. I ate every drop. By this time I was full-but I wanted to try more things. I ended up going with the build your own: one taco (really tasty! Simple but oh so good!), one chile relleno (generous serving-lots of meat and cheese/less pepper) and one chicken enchilada Suiza (I think it was dark chicken-but check me on that). This is a lot of food-and you also get two sides! I chose rice and black beans-which were both excellent. The lunch menu has great choices/prices and there's a happy hour from 3-7 (not sure if it applies to the weekend-should have checked-sorry!). The booth was comfy and it wasn't loud in there (except for the folks next to me-who I now know wayyyyy too much about!) I think the ac was out when I was there-or on its last legs.
