Smooshy floppy barely filled $8 quesadilla. I had less then a teaspoon of sour cream and counted 4 small pieces of tomato. Beans were straight out of the can and cold. I'm so disappointed to get home to that to go order. I had a great experience at the mattawan taco bobs but the portage one shows zero passion in the food presentation and preparation. read more

So I am posting purely on the drinks that we had. Went out for a $3 margarita. Now I know it's a $3 margariita but when You give me the option for a mango margarita I get a little excited. So when I get it and the margarita mix is floating on top and it already isn't great I become sad but again $3 margarita gets 3 stars. Now let's move to the worst part, $4 Long Island. Took two-three drinks and couldn't finish. I've had many $4 long islands and this is the number one worst one I have ever had. It's gets one star. So we average out the scores and we get 2 stars. You know how you can walk past a restaurant and the smell emanating forth is advertisement enough? Much like a McDonald's, there's no smell coming from Taco Bob's. Because they're not really doing much actual cooking. $9 will get you a cold soft shell with some stuff in it, a lukewarm burrito with canned...everything in it, and a handful of the thinnest corn chips, ever, tossed randomly on top. And a cup. So you can self-serve at the soda machine. I said "yes" to guacamole, and they handed me a tiny, cold, rock hard, pre-packaged plastic container of the stuff from the refrigerator. As I sat outside( a plus!) on the mall eating this treat, I found a spoonful of rice and refried on the plate as well, under the handful of chips. I read a number of reviews here stating that it's a step up from Taco Bell. I'm not convinced, as Taco Bell is more reasonably priced, and has more flavor. Listened to the guys at the counter crack each other up, the whole time I was eating. At one point, one of them saw someone walk by with a dog, and ran out to say hi and chat. So I WANTED to like this place more, as service was quick and the guys at the counter were nice, and having fun. But the food's just... not good. read more

Taco Bob's is an awesome eatery. Their tacos are the best in Kalamazoo and Portage. Friendly staff with quality food, visit and be amazed. They catered an event at my job and everyone was pleasantly surprised. The food was hot and fresh. I especially enjoyed the burrito with guacamole & chips. It was just meh. The food wasn't anything spectacular. It lacked flavor, which was great for our picky daughter who hates flavor. I would say the best thing we had was the taco salad. That tasted fine. I personally love nachos, and was pretty disappointed with them at this place. read more

Food is decent, but really why I love this place because it has been around for years (I went here for lunch a lot in high school), and they are a locally owned business. They have expanded and added quite a few additional branched within the past few years. This is not a great taquiera. At no point will we say this is authentic Mex quisine. However, for a beer drinking Gringo that needs a belly filler before and/or after a beer binge, I'll take it. These are some magnificent tacos as long as you understand that the tacos are enough to soak up the residuals of a party night but not as good as an Abuela's home cooked mex meal. If you are in K-Zoo, you need to experience Taco Bob"s but I am not sure you need to pull off the highway just to try it. Pretty good if you need some eats on the quick for a very decent price. The tacos aren't authentic but are made well and with good ingredients. They are stuffed to overflowing with meat, veggies, and cheese. One makes a great snack and three is enough for a meal. I'll definitely visit again. read more

I'm from out of town. Florida to be exact. Decided to try Taco Bob's with my mom and cousin, who are from here. It was delicious! Down in Florida, we have Mexican restaurants on every corner, so it's hard to compete with ours. 4 stars, because the quesadilla was good, BUT it wasn't cooked as much as quesadillas are normally cooked. I was very unimpressed with what taco bob's had to offer. I went for the first time the other day and ordered a quesadilla. The staff was friendly to start but when I forgot to select a meat to go in my meal, they rudely asked me which I wanted. It was definitely off-putting.
