I've always loved this place. Real food instead of generic chipotle/qdoba. The green/tomatillo salsa is amazing and I'd buy gallons of it if I could. Meat burritos are good but also appreciate their veggie burrito. Usually go late at night but it's just a chill spot that you order at the front and grab your own table. read more

Summer staff is always inexperienced on this side of town, so I didn't keep my hopes up, but was still very disappointed. Walked into a cash-counter with partially prepped food items sitting out and the store wreaking of dirty mop water. The whole staff was huddled in the kitchen eating - which is understandable at this time because the store's dining room had just closed. However, when I made eye-contact and greeted them, they not only took another couple minutes to come speak to me, they also didn't wash their hands. The order I was picking up (1 tamale, 1 steak taco) had been put in nearly forty minutes before I showed up and even though the tamales turned out to be out of stock, the staff waited until I arrived to tell me instead of just calling and offering an alternative. Not a big deal, so I opted to swap the unavailable item for a duplicate of my steak taco and I only waited about two minutes for them to make it. I got home (I live two blocks away) to find that my entire order was completely inedible. The tortillas and lettuce were soggy, the tomatoes and cheese were waterlogged and the sour cream had separated. How that's possible when one of the tacos was freshly made to substitute my tamale informs me that this store isn't turning over the prepped food that goes unsold all day. That's a food safety violation for perishable produce and dairy. Its the next day and for whatever reason, the difference in price for the out of stock tamale (it costs more than the taco I got) on my order has not been applied to my card. I've been working in restaurants for most of my life, so I'm being sincere when I say that this store's staffing is being handled by a management team that clearly didn't teach those kids proper food safety, nor professional customer service. I gave this place a shot twice. The first time, I had it, I had the steak burrito. The meat is almost sliced like a cheesesteak. And the flavor was a bit off. So I called it an "off day" and tried it again. Again, the same thing and I think it's just the recipe. The workers are super nice though. This place was recommended to us so thought we'd try. Inside is nice and clean. Prices are fair. We ordered a carne asada or steak Classic Burrito and a Big Burrito. They are big but missing a few ingredients. It's more of a Lettuce Burrito for us because it's packed with lettuce. Hardly any meat in it. I wish there's rice and more meat. this morning was in town from Stirgus Mich wife had doctor appointment so we killed time till 11 o'clock when they open. I ordered two big burritos got back home to Stirgus and i think it was the worst burritos i have had from there couldn't taste the cheese or the sour cream at all i was living in Kalamazoo when they opened their doors lived in Kalamazoo over 46 years. Called to complain talked to the manager and all she said was that we just opened, and they were getting everything out and apologized. I told her not looking for reimbursement just letting you know and at the end of the conversation she seemed to be short with me . So i guess don't get there before noon. read more

People who say The Big Burrito is only post-bar food are wrong. Yes, it's greasy. But many of our finest foods are. This was a frequent stop for me during my college days and I recently returned for the first time in a long time. The place seems to have gotten a serious makeover. It looks less like the back-alley kitchen it really is, and more like a legit restaurant. I will say that the "big burrito" I ordered seemed much lighter than I remembered. Perhaps they're skimping on ingredients to save money. No matter. From the crispy tortilla to the gooey cheese, this is a wonderful indulgence. If it makes you feel better to say it's only good when you're drunk, that's fine. Say whatever you want. It's fun to go slumming every now and then. I've only enjoyed Big Burrito while stone sober... and I make no apologies. I will shout it from the mountaintops. I love it. It also seems they've added a bar since my last visit. The Best Tamales since I lived in Phoenix. If you like heat in your Mexican food, go with the green sauce. The red also has a kick, but both are flavorful in addition to spicy Didn't love the rice or refried beans, but both sides offer some authenticity I haven't tasted since Phoenix. The location on Centre even had a salsa bar where you can have as much or little of their house made salsas and pico. Just to clarify: this is not traditional Mexican food, you don't go here expecting either traditional or healthy. Orders are placed at the counter for both eat in and carry out. The options are fairly basic and the menu is not extensive: tacos, nachos, tostadas etc. with your choice of protein. I generally order the tacos (they have a regular size and mini). With a change in management, increase in prices and a reduction it quality I stopped eating here. we decided to give it another try. Big mistake. The refried beans in my burrito were so watery the tortilla was soggy and falling apart. As I ate a large puddle of grey water poured out of my burrito on the the plate. The steak was chewy and flavorless. The Mexican tacos were ok at best. Tried The Big Burrito for the first time lastnight after driving past for years. I ordered two beef burritos for myself, while my partner enjoyed a steak and chicken quesadilla, and friend enjoyed a taco salad. I was surprised at the size of the "regular" burrito, which is served open face to your table. It doesn't look like there would be much to it, but when you start eating it fills you up quickly. My partner raved about his steak quesadilla, but the chicken left something to be desired. As I sampled a bite of his chicken quesadilla, the first flavor that hit me was that of a bland, frozen, perhaps freezer burnt piece of meat. I'm usually a big fan of chicken quesadillas, but was a little disappointed in this one. The taco salad was pretty large and filled with tons of goodness. Before our food arrived, we were each given a boat of what appeared to be homemade tortilla chips and a homemade salsa which was extremely flavorful. Their green mild sauce had a hint of sweetness, with a slight tingle at the back of your throat. Will definitely be returning to try some more! read more

Name Big Buritto is very misleading. We ordered a classic bean/beef wet buritto and what was served was two pieces of rolled up tortilla with a smattering of beef only; no beans, cheese etc. The pieces were approximately 1.75" dia x 4" long with 1/2 cup of beef at most between the two pieces. So disappointed didn't think to take pictures. Instead of paying the $8.95 would have been better to buy$1:00 frozen buritto at Meijers. Total bill 2 people with fountain drinks was $23.07. Terrible.
