This is probably my favorite Taco Bob's location, although the one on Westnedge is pretty close. They both do a better job with the amount of food that you get for the price you pay, and I always have great service. My least favorite is the Centre Street location. I actually stopped going to that location because they are stingy with their toppings and there is very little meat. I usually order hard shell tacos, Funny tacos (hard shell taco inside a soft shell taco, with nacho cheese in between), nachos with beef or nachos supreme depending on what I'm in the mood to eat. Today I ordered 3 hard shell tacos and they were delicious. I also love their mild sauce, which is good at every location. Unfortunately, you don't get as much food in the taco shells as you do at Qdoba. I will get full after eating 2 tacos from Qdoba, but I'm still hungry and I ate all 3 tacos from Taco Bob's. I actually met Bob when I worked downtown Kalamazoo many, many years ago and he had a stand on the mall, and he was always really nice. Back then I also used to run into him at the Portage soccer field as well, and he would remember me as his customer from downtown. I like to try and support the Taco Bob's restaurants for that reason.

Okay, so I am from Kalamazoo and grew up on Taco Bob's and have been to several locations (so each one is getting a review)! More times than I will admit. People were blown away when Taco Bell came out with the Double Decker years ago, PLEASE.... that has nothing on Taco Bob's Funny Taco. Hands down, the best! Every single time I come home to visit, it is 100% required I go here and most of the time it is more than once. It is what it is. I have Ben obsessed with it even now. Now that I do not live in Kalamazoo anymore, this is the location that gets the most visits out of me while home. It is the closest to my friend's house that I always crash at and dare I say where I have now ruined Ben from wanting any other Taco place, anywhere. He literally bugs me about going there each time he comes home with me, like I don't have plans to go.... a few times. Funny though, every time I go in there, I think of it being an old Subway location waayyyyy back in the day when I was a kid. If in the Kalamazoo area, make it part of the plan for a visit at one of the 6 locations.

There is not much signage but we swerved into the parking lot at the last second! There is a drive thru around the back of the building. Taco Deluxe - 6. I tasted more beans than meat. There was plenty of sour cream on it though. Bean and cheese burrito with sour cream and lettuce - 6. I tasted mostly tortilla but they were a little light on the beans. Cheesy Taco - 8 it's a burrito! Good amount of sour cream and cheese. Taco - 7. Tastes like a Taco Bell Taco! Chips - 6 chips were ok but I didn't care for the cheese sauce. I'm guessing it's nacho cheese sauce. My daughter loved the cheese sauce and licked the container clean. Lols. There were a few chips but nothing like you'd get at a taqueria Quick stop and inexpensive food. Next time I will find some sauce and drench my food in it.

I really love Taco Bob's; its a mix of nostalgia from post-school events and local fast food that won't make you feel filled with grease. The staff is very friendly and comprised of mainly younger kids (I remember a few friends back in high school used to work here). The inside has plenty of seating and the food is very fairly priced. Now the food: I ordered a #9 combo to go. One thing I appreciated was that the food was packaged in plastic Tupperware which kept my wet burrito nice and warm during my drive. The meal came with a burrito, a small bed of rice with refried beans, and some greens. In addition, I got a small side of chips (included) which were fresh and nicely salted. Each combo also comes with a drink! All this came out to be $8.89 plus tax which was a great deal. My burrito was fresh and nicely packed. The rice and beans were standard to most Chipotle/Qdoba type joints and the burrito was good too. I think the best part about this place was the sauce. The salsas they offer have a great variety and are quite generously given. They make the food shine the most. My biggest disappointment was the fact that the combo was a bit less food than I expected. For that reason, I'd definitely say this falls into the "places I'd grab lunch at" category. This isn't my favorite taco place, but it is fairly good, fast, and relatively cheap. I'd give them 3 stars based on the food, but I bumped it up to 4 because of their service. In summary: I mostly enjoyed that this fast-food Mexican restaurant, which is on par with Chipotle, is fresh and has great service and a drive-through window. It offers variety and food that if you're in a rush will have you feeling good while also being relatively healthy. It's the perfect grab-and-go lunch spot.

Had the chicken wet burrito with added diced jalapeños $8.34. No huge surprises with this place gringo style Mexican food. Flavors tend to weigh heavier on garlic, salt, and vinegar less on spices or fresh. i.e. jalapeños are canned and taste mostly of vinegar too. Pretty much what you would expect and is essentially a high school boy's dream of what local Mexican deliciousness means.

I think there's a recurring theme on the reviews of Taco Bob's that's worth noting: it's compared to Taco bell. I think this is fair. However, I have one major qualm, and it's this: I don't think the price increase from Taco Bell is equal to the quality increase. I'll elaborate. But first, I'll be fair. Here are the "step-ups" from a chain like Taco Bell: -Better meat -Smaller, more "handcrafted" menu -Slightly more veggie options -Better looking burritos. -Alcohol on the menu But now I must explain my largest complaint. I believe that if I'm going to pay 2 dollars more than I would at Taco Bell, for a smaller amount of food, I would like a noticeable step up in quality. I did not feel that there was such a step. I found my tacos were lukewarm, and that the veggies were not crisp. The cheese was low quality queso, akin to what you might find in any Taco Bell or Del Taco. Main point: Was it good? Absolutely. Would I make it a mainstay in my diet? Probably not. Worth checking out because you might feel differently.

Taco Bob's is one of our favorite lunch spots. They make each order fresh and to order and comes out pretty quickly. The Funny Tacos are a great standby and a great alternative to a regular fast food taco. I've been getting the quesadilla more recently which is a nice change and filled with plenty of meat. I definitely prefer the Center location, the staff is always super nice and it's a lot nicer inside than the outside may appear.

Don't know what the hype is? Could have been the night. First time eating here. Slow night, 2 employees, one other customer already eating. Only 3 people came through the drive through. Employees didn't have time to sweep the very dirty floor, but had time to throw chips at each other and mess around in the back. Food was cold and did not taste good. read more

I paid 5 dollars for a large walking they literally gave me half a cup with no cheese. I was so disappointed i threw it out the window then called them and told them i didnt want anything just to let them know i was highly unhappy. This taco bobs is .4 miles from my house an ill never go here again read more

First time here and cashier did a very good job with a new customer. Had a beef cheesy taco, a beef regular taco, and a cheese quesadilla. Got my food in record time and it was all excellent, with the cheesy taco being the best. read more

Kinda crappy to make your employees work in 10 degree hotter climates than the 95 degree weather outside... not cool. Couldn't even wait inside for my food let alone even think about being the poor guys forced to work in such heat. Take care of your employees. read more

Not bad. You get what you ask and as my partner said ever so beautifully, "it's like a nicer Taco Bell". It's not meant to be negative but don't go expecting more than a college restaurant. But if that's what you like (and crave funny tacos) go there. read more

While visiting for a weekend at the lake we decided to check out this local joint. The reviews are right! It is worthy of the 4 stars, but I decided to give it 5. My hopes weren't high and they proved me wrong. The food was served hot and the flavor & texture of the meat was very authentic. We had the nachos and Burrito Deluxe. Our friends tried the Cheezy tacos, cheese quesadillas and Funny Taco. Even the picky eaters of the group finished every last bite! The prices are reasonable too. read more

We ordered for our crew at the Walgreens down the street, and took a little longer than expected to pick up our order. Upon arrival, the man working realized our order had been sitting for a while and offered to completely remake our order. It took him about 5 minutes to remake everything and it all was delicious. We love taco bob's at Walgreens!! read more

At first I was l wasn't if taco bob's was worth it to try! So glad I did. Funny Taco's are the best! When you get the meal the rice is hit and miss which sucks. But this place has pepsi products and I'm a mountain dew fan. So a winner in my book. read more

Is this authentic Mexican food? No... but is it a total guilty pleasure of mine YES!!! I have a love for Taco Bobs, I used to eat mediocre food from Taco Bell until I discovered Taco Bobs. I love their chicken nachos supreme, it isn't anything spectacular, just homemade chips, marinaded shredded chicken, lettuce, tomato, nacho cheese, shredded cheese and sour cream but for some reason it hits the spot every time. If you're not hungry enough for the full order of nachos they also make a mini version which is great for kids, seniors, or just a good snack. Plus, the staff is always polite and know me by first name, and this location has a drive thru. read more

It's as if my grandma was making Mexican food out of store bought stuff like Ortega and old el paso. Very mediocre and not at all authentic. My wife likes it quite a bit, but this isn't her review. I'd rather have taco bell, even though it's not authentic at least there's some variety. The menu here is small and uninspired. If you're not into spice or big into flavor, give it a try. read more

It's an average taco joint with average food. It's great for a quick bite after school or if you're passing it on the way somewhere, but I wouldn't go out of my way just to go there. There is only one thing you should get there (they have plenty of options but this is their specialty) is the funny taco. It has a soft outer tortilla, cheese to glue the inner hard shell, then normal taco innards. Best of both soft and hard shell taco worlds. They're tortilla chips are also pretty good. read more

I love Taco Bob's. Beats Taco Bell, hands down. Not the fastest service but who cares I'm always on vacation when I get it. I'll be stopping everytime I visit Kalamazoo. All the ingredients taste fresh, including vegetables, meat, cheese and chips. read more

Not bad, it's a small step above Taco Bell, but the prices are outrageous for a fast food Mexican place! Los Amigos just around the corner is much cheaper, and is sit down with free chips and salsa, etc, a much more extensive menu and much better food, plus they serve alcohol, and service is very fast for a sit down restaurant. This place has the potential to be great if you are in a hurry, but the high prices just don't justify it. Just 2 tacos and a drink are close to $7, which is outrageous for fast food quality of food and service! Skip this place and go to Los Amigos or Taco Bell instead. read more

Worst Taco Bob I have EVER been to. Food was nasty, Manager was rude and so was the server. NEVER, EVER will I go there again. I was served the wrong thing and then when I called back to see if I can re-order They were very nasty to me. I've given this Taco Bob's so many chances to redeem themselves but they continue to mess up or forget things in my order. I'm talking like 90% of the time (and this is with going there around 15 + times). I've called and complained many times. Told them they need to have some kind of checks and balances to insure everything gets into the bag. My husband decided to give them one last chance today and......they forgot the salsa. read more

After having my simple order of nachos (no meat) bean, rice and cheese messed up for the fourth time in a row I'm sorry to say I wont be going back. Today was another disappointment when I got home and opened my box of food. I had spent the last dime I had and was very hungry just to not be able to eat what I got. I'm done wasting my time and money. You need to have a chat with your staff about paying attention to an order. I can understand when it's busy and things are hectic but today I was the only customer in the place and I still got burned. read more

Some of the staff is nice. However, when I had a mistake with my order, I was treated very badly. Don't misunderstand, this was not a young inexperienced worker - this was the manager. As for the food . . . The menu said pinto beans The reality was watery flavorless refried? beans. They forgot the tomatoes and if there was any sour cream, I couldn't find it. The meat (ground beef it said) was pulverized and flavorless. The chips were stale. The guacamole - OMG can they really call it that when it has no taste of avocado at all. We hired Taco Bob's to cater our son's high school graduation party taco bar. Extremely pleased!! Everything was fresh. The delivery was right on time, the girl who set it up was professional and her presentation was beautiful. Everyone loved the food choices and it was plentiful. I get that this is fast food, but they don't even make their own guacamole. Their service is slow, the cookies were incredibly stale, and the fountain pop wasn't working. The counter person had a huge line, so he couldn't leave to assist in refilling the pop machine. Thanks for the useless styrofoam cup that costs $2. read more

I found the restaurant clean, the staff friendly, and the service quick. Sadly, the food was mostly tasteless. I did appreciate the serving sizes and real chunks of chicken, so I stuck with 4 stars. But,the flavor was lacking for me. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing? I got a quesadilla for the kids and funny tacos for me. read more

Several years ago, (when Centre Street was the only location) I would have given Taco Bob's 4-5 stars, but quality seems to have declined over the years. The meat just doesn't seem fresh anymore, and seems to have lost it's flavor. A lot of times I will receive either stale or soggy shells. This used to be a regular lunch spot for me, but I haven't been there in probably over a year. Wish I could get the funny taco I remember loving years ago, but I've just been disappointed so many times that I stopped eating here. read more

Atmosphere: We liked the seating which was private enough to have an enjoyable conversation but open enough to observe other around us enjoying themselves. Overall a very pleasant clean place with a warm fun vibe.

It was hard to decide what to eat because there were so many options and everything is reasonably priced. I bought a salted caramel cheesecake for home and it was absolutely delicious as well. I cannot wait to return and try something different.
