Good vegetarian options. A bit frustrating. They told me what time it would be ready. I gave an extra 25 min. Still had to wait another ten minutes. I could have ordered in for same time. When you order pick up to eliminate stress and it becomes more stressful...if it's going to be super late need to alert customer. Most likely won't go back because of that. Right on Lincoln Ave, They are known for quesabirria tacos and boy did they deliver! These tacos were so big that I couldn't immediately dip them in consommé ! I wasn't as wild about their sides , but I impulsively ordered thinking I wouldn't be full. 2 tacos make for a decently filling lunch for me. What started out of a food truck became a storefront sometime into the pandemic. Had they been a couple years early, they could have made some bank on the bar hopping karaoke crowds. There are two entrees they are known for. Birria and their take on a birria pizza which if you're a pizza lover is worth a try. Taco Bell's version of a pizza has nothing on this. Much of the menu is (enter your favorite adjectives here) tasty, worth the spend, delicious and since opening they have only added on new, fresh menu items worth tasting. I came to Taco Boom to look for a closer alternative to Pilsen for Mexican food- it's a decent substitute but doesn't quite compare to some of the other places I've gotten quesabirria. The waiter was so so nice and took the time to explain their most popular items, but he was the only one serving tables on a Saturday night, which made the service pretty slow. I really liked their al pastor taco and would come back to try some other taco flavors, but I would skip on the asada taco which was too dry. The quesabirria is decent, but nothing to write home about. The most disappointing dish was the birria ramen, which looked great at first but was far too salty. The ramen noodles also seemed like they were literally taken from a cheap cup ramen, making them way overcooked and too soft in the broth. Overall, I'd say give it a try given the affordable price and numerous raving reviews- just skip the birria ramen! read more

I've been in search for a good Al Pastor burrito that meets my LA-upbringing standards, and although I haven't found a place that is as good yet in the Chicagoland, I must say that the Al pastor burrito here was fire! It had a slight crisipy-ness to it that really made every bite enjoyable and I love the little sweet notes in it. I wasn't sure if it was pineapple, but it resembled it for sure. The reason why I took off a star is because the burrito sizes themselves are not very big! I'm hoping they can add either a little more girth to the tacos or make them slightly longer because I was a bit hungry afterwards. I will say that the green and red salsas were good. This is one of my new favorite taco places in Chicago! They specialize in birria tacos and other birria options! I have order both for delivery and in person. I got the quesabirria and taco el patron. My boyfriend got the birria taco. Everything was so good, juicy, and the consume was so flavorful. The salsa they have is a tad bit spicy but we love spicy so that was okay for us. In addition, the man who took our order and gave us our food (presumably the owner) was super nice, and was really helpful with any questions and recommendations. I've been trying Birria around chicago and found this restaurant through Yelp. Walked in and placed a to go order. They were quite busy with orders but were very welcoming and explained the menu. I ordered the quesa birria , pastor taco, and asada taco. The birria was the cheapest price I've paid AND included the consome. Most restaurants are now charging over $3 just for the consome and about $6 for a single quesa birria . Anyways it was delicious, and large. The pastor was also one of the best I've had in the city, very charcoal flavored with crispy bites , nice flavors, with a bit of charred pineapple. The carne asada taco contained a massive amount of meat and was also good. My only feedback was I wish they offered straight up avocado as an add on. You can only choose guacamole. Came here on a Tuesday night and it was busy. There was only one server. He was quick to get our order but kind of slow to give us our order which was understandable because of how busy it was. There was a group of about 12 people he had to manage as well. It's a typical divey restaurant but it's so good. I would highly recommend the place! If you're going to try out some tacos, come here. We got the Al pastor volcanes, tripa, and carne asada. The carne asada was kind of chewy. Tripa here is the best tripas I've had this far in Chicago. It is so good that I'm going to use them as a standard for judging other tripas. The volcanes are like tostadas and they were $3.75 each. They give you plenty of meat which was great.
