Friendly staff and fantastic tacos. The waiter recommended the taco madre and I'm glad I took his advice. I also ordered a plain Jane steak taco and it didn't disappoint. I found Taco Boom through a Google search and wow I'm so glad I did! The portion sizes here for the quesabirrias are BIG. It's essentially two tortillas instead of the typical one. I did have to fold them down the middle to dip them in the consomé which I thought defeated the purpose of the quesabirrias being made flat. The birria itself was very flavorful and tender. I added a little lime to the consomé and it was an amazing mixture of flavors: savory, salty, and slightly tangy. Downgraded because this place is way too inconsistent. When it's great, it's great. When it's bad, it's BAD. Came here on a Wednesday afternoon and everything we ordered was bad and we felt nauseous afterwards. Steak meat was dry and tough. Quesobirria was mostly cheese with a few strips of meet. Tortillas were so tough that my son didn't even want to bother biting a piece off. Have also had issues with completely burnt sope bottoms and cilantro and onion that is not fresh. I feel like I have to cross my fingers each time I come here, hoping it's a good day. Will probably be removing this restaurant from the rotation. read more

The first time I visited here, I got steak tacos to go they were overly salted, came back again to try it a second time to give the business Another chance and had the chicken tacos I was not impressed. The tortillas were dry, and fell apart in my hand, while I was eating the taco, the meat was dry and lacked flavor. The quality of the food is lacking., they don't offer smaller sizes of guacamole, you have to buy a whole 8 ounce cup, and the chips are separate as well. I could make my own chips and guacamole at home and it's not gonna cost me $12 food the food is too expensive these days and these businesses what they're charging I don't know how they're going to remain open, the quality of the food is just not up to standards for the prices they charge it's not worth it.To add the parking is a nightmare plan on getting a ticket or parking a couple blocks away cause The city of Chicago is at it again with construction., I most definitely will not be going back and trying them a third time. The quesobirria is served quesadilla style but the meat and consommé are packed with flavor, the quality of the meat they use in the burritos and tacos is good as well.
