I asked for elote and was given corn from a can in a cup. If I wanted corn from a can I would have gone to the grocery store bought a 99 cent can and made it myself. For a small carne asada fries, a large carne asada fries ana two corns from a cup I paid over $50 which is insane to me anyways never again coming here again. Went on in to be greeted as we entered. You order via line similar to that of Chipotle. I got the 3 Birria Tacos. I love that you can see them preparing the food. The man at the register was extremely hospitable and explained they'd bring our food to where we decide to sit. The food took a little while longer than I anticipated but it was worth the wait. First off I got to meet the owner and his mom. They are great people and have a genuine love for this food. My wife had the nachos, build your own style, and she loved them. I had the carne asada fries and Birria bombs. The quality was great, the ingredients tasted fresh and the service was excellent. Probably the best assada fries I've ever had. The serving sizes were larger than what I was expecting which was a nice change. The combo was really feeling. Recently, I started a new job working in Norfolk. Since I didn't bring anything for lunch, I decided to see about places nearby to grab takeout. For a while, I've heard about this place from fellow Yelpers. By looking at reviews and pics, why not try them out and see if it's legit. And after two back-to-back visits, the verdict is in: a resounding yes!!! For the first go around, I ordered a taco salad with steak, corn salsa, pico de gallo, cilantro rice, black beans, lettuce and shredded cheese. Delicious!! The steak was well seasoned and having all the veggies included with the rice and beans filled me up nicely. A well deserved lunch indeed. The next day, I again didn't have anything to eat and was about to order either a salad or sandwich from a local spot I used as my go-to working in Chesapeake. Then, the boss went around and asked everyone if they wanted to grab some Mexican food. So I asked where at? They said Taco Burrito Company. My response: I'm in!!! Never hurts to go back right? My pick was again the burrito bowl, but this time it was chicken for the protein, Mexican rice and salsa tomatillo along with guacamole (costs .99 extra). Now this one was better!! The chicken, just like the steak was well seasoned, the salsa was just right with the amount of spice and flavor and having Mexican rice.....the right call. And with adding guac to the mix was obviously the icing on the cake. Once again, full for lunch. Overall, a wonderful choice for takeout lunch or simply for a sit-down mean with friendly folks dishing out genuine Mexican food. Do come here if you can and you'll be leaving satisfied. read more

I really enjoy Taco Burrito's menu, as they provide a fresh local alternative to places like Chipotle & Moe's, with more options (and they're not stingy with the meat like the previously mentioned.) Coming from LA and SD, I had low expectations for street tacos in Hampton Roads, but the tacos I tried at Taco Burrito were delicious, juicy, tender and authentic. Not only that, but the owner seemed super friendly and greeted everyone so that is always a plus for me. Restaurant itself also appeared new and clean. Only thing to mention was I didn't realize the pico de Gallo was an extra 49 cents, which isnt much but didn't expect an upcharge. So the nachos look really good right? But uhhhhhh the food and customer service was subpar. The chips in the nachos e were good, but they didn't even make them there-I saw a box of nacho chips on the counter. The queso was watery and I got charged $2.99 extra for adding rice to my nachos which wasn't told to me ahead of time and wasn't on the menu. When it was time to pay, the cashier tried to charge me $13.99 for the nachos and $3.99 for chicken. I inquired about this because I thought the chicken was included in the nacho price-I had to talk to 3 different people before they removed the $3.99 from my bill. However, they still added $2.99 for 2 scoops of rice. ‍I also got charged 65 cents for a takeout charge and the sales tax was $2.14-my total was $19.27. The nachos tasted so bland and unseasoned. I also found a block of ice on my lettuce when I told them about it-I was told "It's just ice". The nachos were definitely not worth the time, energy or price. Pay attention to your customers, rectify your internal problems that your employees are causing your restaurant to give you bad reviews. Don't point the blame on your customers. It appears petty. Challenge your customers to return and make up for your previous bad reviews. Also as long as you have the rude clerk there many of your diverse ethnic customers will not return. Good customer service but they overcharged for almost every ingredient in the bowl... watery queso, bland guacamole, and your basic pickled jalapeños will cost you 1.99 upcharge each. The queso upcharge was the only one mentioned during the chipotle-style service, but we let bygones be bygones and enjoyed the birria ball. Tasty and exactly as described, it's the only reason we enjoyed our meal. The consume was bland but there is ample salt and pepper on the tables to make up for the lackluster and under-seasoned food. Asking for hot sauce will be okay the first time but be warned when you finally find a reason to compliment the meal (adding the hot sauce to each bite), they will require you to pay for the next little taste. We also got the burrito and found it to taste (surprise) exactly like the bowl but in a tortilla. Welllllll. I was super excited to visit this place because i seen so many good reviews! Upon arriving there was a man fixing the door because the handle had broken off. When we got inside i noticed it looked kinda gloomy inside. There was also a weird smell!! They didn't warm the soft tacos so they didn't taste great either and everything fell out of the taco.. The bowl was not flavorful at all... It was a pile of ingredients that all tasted like nothing. I had high hopes, but that quickly faded. I had to pay an extra dollar for sour cream which I've never had to do at Chipotle. That kinda upset me because the server was only putting a dollop of everything. He wasn't listening to what i was asking for. He was in a rush to get me out of there. I didn't feel welcomed at all. Both employees seemed to be just trying to get through the day. No conversation, small talk, or anything.
