We both ordered "bowls" where we were able to choose the items we wanted for dinner. Taking our food home to eat, we both had more than half to eat for the next day. Was so pleased with our visit here! We got takeout, and everything was hot and fresh when I picked it up. The whole place is very clean and new of course, and would be fine as a fast-casual dine-in as well. The employees were really friendly, and made sure to double check my order (and everything was there! I was shocked, as we had ordered a LOT of food). I really appreciated their care. Also, the tacos were bombbb, just as I remembered in DC. I got a mixture of tacos, but honestly couldn't eat all 3 plus chips in one sitting. My kids love their rice and beans too, and the queso is really everything I could hope for in a queso. I really wanted to like this place. However, my order was wrong and no one was willing to fix it. I didn't really understand the ordering process on the panel panels. And no one really explained it to you. They just direct you to the panel. Some of the items are on their multiple times, so you really don't understand what to order. I do like that you get more ingredients than the other places. I love the environment and the restaurant was super clean. I just wish that for the amount that I paid I would've got what I paid for. Nice addition to the community! It can obviously be compared to Chipotle, though it's a much smaller chain based in DC. When we arrived, we were greeted by a slew of employees. One guided us to the ordering station where we browsed through their options to include tacos, burritos, breakfast, and more. We opted for the tacos and built 5 of our own to sample different proteins. It took longer than expected to receive our order, especially for the number of employees vs guests. Maybe they had an influx of online orders or one of the meats wasn't ready (I'm speculating here), but it certainly felt longer than we should've waited at a quick-service style restaurant. We were happy with our tacos once we tried them! Very filling and fresh. I would get the carne asada again. I really liked the guacamole and salsa, although I had to go back up to ask for the salsa as it was missing from our order. We also brought home some chips and queso, which satisfied my craving for a late night snack. Another small bummer was that their drink machine was out of order by the time we were ready for refills. Staff were working to repair it, but after waiting a while we decided to let it go and leave. Since they just opened, these kinds of mishaps are to be expected. Chipotle with less effort. Even their professional pictures look like a bunch of white people tried to make tacos. It's not bad, per se but it's not good. Feels thrown together and lacking any modicum of authenticity. Which, is what I was hoping for. If you're in the mood for Taco Bell / Chipotle (which, we all are at some point), you'll be good here. Otherwise, there are too many taquerias in this area that you'd be better off patronizing. read more

Food was okay. Got 3 tacos - carne asada, pollo asada, and carnitas. Two were good but the chicken was bland. They seem to be following Taco Bell's lead and keeping contact with the staff to a bare minimum. You order from one of 6 tablet kiosks. Staff did not seem too interested in greeting you, chatting or making any eye contact. Note, I was the only customer in the place at the time. Really seem geared for to-go orders made online. The signage from the road feels like a local taco joint. The inside feels like taco franchise that can be dropped into any college town. Good or bad depending on your point of view. Surprised to see the poor reviews... I moved here from DC 6 years ago, and was excited to see an old staple coming to Norfolk. I had the beyond tacos, corn tortillas, loaded up with toppings and they were fantastic. Our portions were large, so maybe they've read the reviews and adjusted? We also enjoyed the queso. July 19, 2024: We order the chicken burrito but we found there was no chicken at all in the burrito. Was going to rate this 5 stars for overall good service and food since their opening, but this one slip up showed me that they are inexperienced and incomplete. I was out running errands and noticed their grand opening, so thought I'd give it a shot. If you like $13 burritos stuffed with rice and a salt mine, this place is for you. I met my lifetime sodium intake limit in one bite. The pico de gallo salsa was a strange soupy brown that tasted like it looked. Needless to say, I did not enjoy my meal. I can't vouch for the tacos, but I did get a coupon for a free taco on my next visit that I won't be using. 1 star because the tortilla chips were pretty good. read more

Not sure what happened here but this place is horrible now. Extremely long wait time, employees just standing around looking confused. Ordered a bowl and paid 5 extra dollars for guacamole, I didn't get the guacamole. It was take out so didn't check till home. They also forgot my grilled veggies. Chicken was over cooked and some of the green ingredients were looking mighty brown. Bc of this the food tasted more like leftovers than a fresh bowl. Arrived just before 11am on a Thursday with my son. I order three tacos (chicken, carnitas and chorizo) and my son ordered chicken quesadilla. We both got a side of rice and churros. We also ordered drinks. There was a sign outside that said "get out of the heat" free drink with order see cashier for discount. Fun Fact: It's a tablet and there is no discounts code. You have to go to the register and they just give you a cup. We didn't know so we ended up paying for our drinks. But they gave his a large bag of chips for the inconvenience. My son liked his quesadilla however my tacos were much to be desired. All the proteins were warm with the carnitas being close but not quite and we sat down to eat inside. The rice had good flavor however the churros were a little too hard for our liking. There was no interaction with the staff upon entering of leaving which guess by the receipt survey there should have been. Some tables were dirty from previous guests. But there were enough tables to choose another. All in all, I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again especially since the price tag was over $50 for two people. read more

I really like wanted to like this place cause I can walk to it. It's worse on serving sizes that chipotle are complained about. I would rather drive instead of walk. Chicken. I litterly got home and added grilled chicken from Costco. Barely any lettuce, beans, rice and didn't include the grilled veggies etc. When you have to add you own stuff to make the food taste better they need to do better or end up like the other restaurant that was there. Just have to give an honest review to compete. The owner was enthusiastic assuming it was him at the hand out area, criticism give you room for correction to make it work. I was looking for authentic tacos, this is more of a chipotle style establishment. I think my tacos were overpriced for the amount they gave me, because i ordered chorizo and my taco had like a dash of chorizo in it. and the meat was dry.
