We were in the area and my partner loves a street taco- pure and simple grilled meat on a small, double stacked corn tortilla with chopped onions and cilantro- this is the place. I'd heard great things about this place for A WHILE. Actually drove out of my way to try them. Man! Was I disappointed. Interior / Exterior Interior is tiny - VERY limited seating. Parking is limited as well. The parking is shared by Jamaica Mi Krazy, Pa-Pa Ray's Lousiana Kitchen, Peach State Insurance, Nimbus Smoke & Vape and iRepair IT. You can turn on Bell Drive and park behind the building - or you can drive past the building and take a quick hard right turn into the parking lot next to them. *If you know where Panda Express, Aldi's, QuickTrip and McDonald's are on Spring Rd - they are less than 1/16th of a mile from that Spring Rd / Cumberland Blvd intersection. Customer Service I waited for my order. The cashier was friendly and upbeat - as long as you were male. Not joking. Even when I went out of my way to be friendly and told her it was my first time - she was a cold as ice. But when any dudes came in - she was grinning and tossing her ponytail for everything it was worth. This place is def worth a visit: good food at a good price. It was the torta that sold it for me. The hubs had the cantina special while I opted for the chipotle asada torta. Oh. And they only sell bottled water, but it was like $0.24 for the bottle. His three (street) tacos (carne asada, al pastor, chicken tinga) were small but pretty filling: corn tortilla & double wrapped. These regular tacos were only $1.88 apiece if bought separately. The tacos were so so imo. There wasn't much of a flavor profile. The carne asada and al pastor were more flavorful compared to the chicken. The addition of the Bri's (white) rice and black beans made it more filling. The rice was simple, but it was pretty tasty with its salt seasoning. My torta was super filling, flavorful, and the ultimate sandwich. The house fried chips had a nice crunch with the different sauces at the station. My only complaint is that it was super messy to consume. I think you taste more sauce with this torta than anything else: There was the guacamole, lime crema, and white American cheese that probably melted. The steak was present within all this and was well seasoned and coated with all the sauces. This place is fast casual. It reminded me of taco joints that are popular but connected to gas stations. Had a great late lunch visit to the Cantina on this Thursday afternoon. Not sure how crowded it gets during normal (11am-1pm) lunch hours, but at nearly 3pm...there was no wait and I had free reign to sit inside or outside. Parking: Good amount of parking. There is access from a light or straight from the road. Lot is smaller than most, so I wouldn't bring a chartered bus. Dining: Your choice of inside or out. There are a couple of outside tables for dining on a perfect weather day. This place might be a problem for larger parties of 10 or more, but is just fine for 4-5'rs. They also have a topping bar for you to dress up your chips or entree. Everything from Salsas to onions. Service: Walk on up to the counter and order what ya like from the menu above the cashier. Some print on the menu is smaller than others, so bring the glasses if you have trouble seeing 10-20 ft away. Clean up: When you're done (depending on how busy they are), they'll pick up your tray for you. It stays pretty clean in here. The Hispanic / Latino population in Cobb County is the second largest in Georgia according to the 2020 Census. Smyrna, Georgia has a prosperous Mexican food scene and you will find some really good tacos spots such as " Tequeria El Guero" "Tacos La Villa , "Birria El Gordo" to name a few. So when one of my favorite go to spots, Tacos La Villa is temporarily closed due to a kitchen fire, I went to the current business that is catering to the old customers that have nowhere to go near by. I went into Mi Cantina with high expectations since they are in the Mexican / Latino side of town, but, I was disappointed by the non-authentic Mexican food that I ate. I had two steak tacos and a El pastor. The tacos were a 2 of 5, but in a constructive criticism critique, the rice and beans are no bueno. Sorry if this offended anyone. Steam white rice and blacks beans are not what you would find in Southern California, Texas or Tijuana as your side. I liked this place. The tacos and quesadilla I had here were tasty and affordable. Taco Cantina opened July 2015 in a small strip mall, which houses other restaurants like Subway and Jamaica Mi Krazy, on Spring Road in Smyrna. It's less than a mile away from The Battery, SunTrust Park, and I-285 and Cobb Parkway. A second, bigger Taco Cantina location opened inside the perimeter, in Old Fourth Ward, in December 2017. This is a fairly small and cozy taco shop. About 30-40 customers can sit inside comfortably. There are also a couple two-person tables outside on the sidewalk as well as a few umbrella-covered tables inside a tiny, fenced-in patio next to the parking lot. There's plenty of parking. This is a fast-casual restaurant (order at the counter) with a very relaxed atmosphere. Decor includes colorful Dia de los Muertos paintings, historical black-and-white photographs from Mexico, and lucha libre (Mexican professional wresting) masks and promotional material. There's an open prep kitchen. They serve a decent variety of beer, but, unlike the O4W location, there is no bar. The cans and bottles of beer are self-serve from a fridge. When we visited, the menu featured a salad, $8.95 enchiladas, sides like beans con chorizo ($3.25) and queso dip ($4.50), a half-dozen tortas (Mexican sandwiches, about $9 each), regular "naked" tacos ($1.85) and "super" (fully dressed) tacos (about $3 each), and burritos, quesadillas, and nachos (the latter three items about $9 each). There was also a $6.95 "cantina special" that included three regular tacos plus beans and rice. Meats included carne asada (grilled chipotle steak), carne de puerco (slow-cooked pork), chorizo (Mexican sausage), barbacoa (shredded brisket), chicken and chicken tinga (shredded chicken in a tomato-and-chili-based sauce), al pastor (marinated pork), and more. It was hot and delicious with tender morsels of steak and yummy melted jack cheese. I also liked the cucumber avocado salad that came with the quesadilla. The avocado served on top was guacamole; Taco Cantina's fairly light and relatively runny version. All of Taco Cantina's tacos are served "street style" on corn tortillas. Some of my tacos came with two corn tortillas, while others just one. I enjoyed all of the tacos with the al pastor being my favorite. I loved the addition of pineapple chunks. They were served in tiny cubes and were ripe and sweet. The pork was nicely marinated and full of flavor. The fish taco was my second favorite, mainly because of the guac. The chunks of fish were blackened and meaty. Both the fried calamari and the teriyaki steak tacos were served with what looked like the exact same type of slaw. I think they're supposed to be different, so I'm not sure what happened there. Maybe they ran out of one type of slaw. Regardless, I thought both tacos were A-OK, though I'm not sure I'd order them again. I'd probably go for one of the regular tacos instead. The teriyaki sauce in the Asian beef taco was quite strong; sweet and sharp, almost overpowering. Calamari as a meat inside a taco isn't very noticeable because it lacks flavor. I recommend going with a different taco. My friends ordered steak nachos (Taco Cantina's nachos come with housemade tortilla chips, black beans, two types of cheese (including Chihuahua cheese), pico de gallo, grilled corn, jalapenos, onions, guac, and a meat), different tacos than me (slow-cooked pork, Mexican sausage, and shredded brisket), and a Cuban torta. They seemed to like everything. The taco meat portions appeared generous. The Cuban torta didn't look as full-fledged as a traditional Cuban sandwich, but my friend who ate it said she liked it better than the tacos (she actually prefers the tacos at Taco T). As mentioned above, Taco Cantina's regular tacos are served naked so you have to dress them yourself. They have a salsa bar with various toppings and salsas including, of course, cilantro, white onion, and lime. Taco Cantina is a family owned business that serves up delicious Mexican food. It's in a small strip mall on the corner, so don't blink, because you just may miss Taco Cantina! Taco Cantina is in a small cluster of small businesses, and the small free parking lot can get full at peak times. The woman at the order counter warmly greeted us as we walked in. Face masks and gloves are worn by all employees, and, while we were there, all customers wore face masks. The friendly employee at the counter asked us if this was the first time visiting her restaurant. Two of us had previously eaten here, but it was the first visit for the third person. The employee took the time to patiently explain to her information about the food and the menu items, telling her that the most popular items on the menu were the tortas (sandwiches), the different types of meats used in the tacos, burritos and quesadillas, and the differences between the naked and the fully dressed tacos (see the menu pic for the details). The indoor dining area is closed off for dining, and it's take out only (I think). I believe there were some tables outside, but it was raining when we went, so we weren't about to eat outside in the rain, even if there were available tables. R and I each ordered the Cantina Special, which is three street tacos (mine with al pastor meat, R's with carnitas meat), rice and black beans. Our friend ordered the brisket quesadilla. We watched as the three kitchen employees quickly got down to work in the open kitchen, and it didn't take them that long to cook and prepare our meals for take out. We opted to eat in the car in the parking lot. The food looked great! These tacos were the street sized tacos (the smaller ones) and they each had two corn tortillas and a lime wedge. The employee had also included two small cups each of the red and green hot sauces. I squeezed the limes onto my tacos, poured some red sauce on my first taco, picked it up and took a bite. My al pastor meat was very delicious! It tasted fresh, well seasoned, and had chunks of pineapple on top. R said that his carnitas tacos were great. A also said her brisket quesadilla was delicious. The sauces added just a tiny bit of heat to the tacos. I used a cup of sauce on each taco, so I put the green sauce on the third taco. Although the green sauce was still good, it had a different flavor and I thought the red sauce tasted much better on the al pastor meat than the green sauce. The rice was kind of bland tasting, but had a perfect consistency (not dry and not too wet). I didn't care for the black beans. These were a little too hard, like they hadn't been cooked enough. Whenever I think it's going to be safe enough for me to get back into Truist Park for Atlanta Braves' games, Taco Cantina will be on my list as a place to grab a bite to eat before the games. I got two super tacos for $5 each. I thought that $5 was a lot for a single taco but they are actually pretty big. Fried chicken was just alright. Has some heat to it and some creaminess but that's it. Chicken is a little tough which isn't great for eating as a taco. Kinda one note. Needs some sweetness or tanginess. Maybe some pickled red onions would've been good on this. Chipotle asada taco was more flavorful than fried chicken taco but it was mainly lettuce and queso. Not much steak. Both tacos were heavy on lettuce/slaw but fried chicken had a decent amount of chicken. Asada taco had less meat than you'd expect from a smaller standard sized taco so for a big taco like this it was kind of a rip off. The meat that I did have though was flavorful and tasty. If there was a proper amount of meat it would probably be a really good taco. I personally wouldn't go back but it was a cool place worth checking out if you're nearby. They should consider doing a super taco combo. They have a plain taco combo with 3 tacos and rice and beans. If they had a meal with 2 supertacos with rice beans I would have ordered. We arrived around 11:30 as they opened in order to beat the crowd. Decently sized parking but definitely could see it getting full during peak times so be aware. We walked in and immediately felt like a giant food truck in the random Mexican inspired decor and shot gun house style restaurant size. Definitely cute and welcoming. We walked up and read the hanging menu and ordered immediately. I ordered the Cantina Special which includes 3 "naked" tacos with rice and beans. At first glance, it seems pretty basic but they have a standing toppings "bar" where you can load the naked tacos with and give it some pizzazz. Overall, it was a good lunch and everything tasted nice. Definitely try the loaded tacos for more personality and flavors! My coworkers also enjoyed the location and raves about the tortas and loaded tacos. With it being so close and relatively cheap, we'll definitely be back! read more

This is one of the worst restaurants. After six years, they don't even fix the food. How does the mexican taco even mess up?

Coming from Miami , I have been chasing after some food that reminds me of home. The Torta Cubana has been one of the best cuban sandwiches I've had to date here in Atl. Definetly recommend it if your are looking for a good cuban sandwich. There other food looks really good aswell but I haven't been to taste it yet since I always end up with the Cuban. read more

They're known for their tortas! And they lived up to the rumors. There's several tortas to pick from and all with a bit of twist from your traditional style torta. It comes with tortilla chips and there's a stand for you to try all the different kinds of salsas. I had the al pastor torta. Comes with cheese, spicy chipotle mayo, leafy greens, and pineapples. The combination of the flavors coming together is perfection. I love pineapples so I def recommend this if you do too:) The restaurant is small. I'd compare it to a narrow hallway so get cozy. Bringing in a large group will be difficult, but my boyfriend and I went around lunch time and it wasn't too busy. If you haven't been here before and you're craving a torta I say give it chance! read more

I had the carne asada, chicken tinga and barbacoa tacos (not pictured). All were really fresh and delicious, but the barbacoa was definitely the best. Looking forward to trying more from the menu! read more

Total Americano Mexican style. Not authentic whatsoever but many Americans may like it. It's very fresh and clean tasting but NOTHING like Mexican food to me. White rice? Lol. Burritos filled with lettuce.. White boy Mexican food. This is based on the Burrito only. Have not tried the other stuff. read more

What a find and silly me I live right behind this place and have driven by a lot. First, I am a big fan of tacos la villa down the street but this place is so much cleaner. They have a modern day Mexican ambience. Pictures of luchadors and their masks on one wall. Festive colors and references to little Mexican tid bits on the other walls. It is a small space but it is utilized very well. I will be reviewing the tortas in the review as I have yet to try the tacos. What we got : Chipotle Asada torta : $9.50 Barbacoa Torta :$9.50 Verdict : Yummy ! Both sandwiches were stuffed with protein and had a good balance of sauce to bread ratio. The bread was exceptional with a same day baked taste. The kitchen is small and you can see them make your dish from start to finish. The freshness of the ingredients is also reflected at the salsa bar. They hand make these salsas and you can tell. My favorite was the Diablo beware it's spicy !!!! The tortas are very reasonably priced for the amount of food and you get the chips on the side. One trip to the salsa bar and you can make your own custom chips. They have shredded cabbage , fresh cilantro and pickled onions on tap. Top your chips and sit down for an excellent meal. Service is great as well. I will be back !!! Tacos La Villa might be in trouble !! Jk jk both are great !!! Try this place ASAP. read more
