Taco Cantina has great Tacos!!!! My personal favorite is the marinated pork taco, its fully loaded with flavor. We also ordered the chicken, steak and brisket taco. All very yummy!!!! This was my first experience with the brisket, and I must say that I may have been sleeping on the pork. As you can see, the tacos came underdressed, they do have a full salsa bar so that you can dress them the way you like them. Our order came with rice & blacks beans, pretty tasty after I mixed them together and added a little salsa.They have $1 can sodas. They also sale Ice cream, which is a nice little addition. Prices were reasonable, and service was great. The restaurant was extremely clean, but seating is limited....all & all it's the cutest little restaurant on spring street...lots of character. They don't offer table services but on this particular day we were able to get a little help, the owners sons were there and the youngest helped us out with clearing the table after we were done eating, I also witnessed him sweeping and cleaning other tables.....cutest little waiters ever, of course I had to tip him. This place is a cozy place in Smyrna. Just like the name implies, you can order authentic, Mexican tacos here. You don't get any of that gringo, flour tortilla crap with lettuce and tomatoes. You get it on 2 layers of grilled corn tortilla. They cook the meats fresh off the grill and serve it to you. They have a small salsa bar to dress up your tacos. I recommend you do the standard cilantro and onions. They have the avocado sauce, which is my favorite salsa at any Taqueria. So put that. The rest of the bar didn't have the options other places have, but it has the essentials. That's good enough for me. The tacos are small and cheap. I think a fully-grown man can eat about 4-5 comfortably. If you're hungry, get all the tacos on the menu. I didn't get to try the other items on the menu. I'm sure they're good. You need to read my other review today to realize I wasn't in the mood for more Mexican. I stopped to check out Jamaica Mi Krazy and had to park near Taco Cantina, so I decided to walk in and check out the menu before ordering from JMK - Wow, what a stroke of fortune. the Hostess talked with me at length about the menu and recommended the weekend-only tamales, which included banana leaf tamales tonight. I stuck to my procedures and got a menu before walking down to JMK. The Curry, Rice and Peas, etc. we're enticing, but I needed to have a great tamale (or two) and taco to cleanse my palate from the earlier disaster. I'll go back to JMK later. When I returned to Taco Cantina I ordered two Banana Leaf Tamales (Verde and Rojo) and a Taco Barbacoa to go (recommended by the Hostess). They were LEO friendly so the total was under $6. All I can say is - OUTSTANDING! The taco was succulent and tasty; the tamales were tender and flavorful. The Owner even indulged my request for more sauce for the tamales (see my earlier review of another local establishment) though I later figured out I could've added the sauces from the Salsa Bar (my bad)...always nice to not have my ignorance exposed though I would've taken it in stride. The only hiccup was a bone and bit of fat in my Rojo Tamale, but even that wasn't enough to deter a five star rating. This isn't a Taco Hut with cooks serving Mexican fare. I decided to suggest this place for girls and I to go to during our lunch breaks since we all work in this Cumberland area. Taco Cantina was the lucky winner because of its authentic taco style. Since I arrived earlier than my friends, I ordered a side of guacamole with chips. The guacamole was good, nothing spectacular at all. I did get to try the cheese dip which was good as well, not many spices which could've took it to the next level. Later I did order pollo , pastor and a spicy shrimp taco. Finished my hair appointment and was in the mood for tacos. Found Taco Cantina on my trusty yelp app and discovered it was two minutes away. Now, when I said I wanted tacos I guess what I really wanted was margaritas, so I was totally bummed to find they do not serve alcohol of any kind. Still, I needed to eat so I stayed. The tacos were good. I'm not a fan of corn tortillas, but the meat was well seasoned, so it was fine. The tacos come out with just meat, nothign else. You have to take your food to the bar to add your own salsas, onions, etc. I don't really like that setup. I want my food to come out ready to eat. There was a salsa verde on the bar that was really good. I would have loved to have more, but the little condiment cups that come out are tiny and I didn't feel like getting back up. Rice and beans were forgettable and not worth the carbs. While the tacos are good, but not memorable, the torta we had was great. We had the torta cubano and it was delicioso! My friend took me here. Been here twice and had salad bowl with slow cooked pork the first time and had three tacos the 2nd time. Was not very impressed by the salad bowl but the tacos were REALLY good! Got three tacos Barbacoa shredded brisket, Tinga De Pollo Chicken Tinga and Al Pastor marinated pork. I love the brisket and marinated pork, very tasty and fresh! My favorite tacos! The chicken Tinga was good too but a little bit dry and is probably by least favorite one. They have a nice salsa bar and all the vegetables, pickles and sauce there are super fresh! My friend told me their Cuban Sandwich is good too. Ordered one to go and haven't tried yet. They serve chips with sandwich. The chips were warm and fresh and also got some seasoning salt on. Tasted so good and I finished them within a few minutes. Lol. This is a pretty good fast casual Mexican restaurant. I got the 3 taco special with chorizo, steak, and tinga chicken. The chicken and steak lacked some flavor, but the chorizo was the best I've had. The chips were great, very fresh and seasoned with the right amount of salt. The chipotle sauce on the bar was great also. My son enjoyed the chicken nachos. The portion size was huge. Torta Cubana is the best Cuban in the area. Beats El Super Pan, hands down. Ignore the fact that your plate is aluminum foil and a paper lunch bag. At almost $2 a pop, the tacos here are more expensive than other more authentic options in the area. The carne asada was delicious, the chorizo was okay, and the chicken tinga left much to be desired. Also, the tortilla chips that came with the guac were super dry, not a single grain of salt in sight! The service was good, and the location is super convenient, but it's probably not enough for me to return. Also, they don't have refried beans or mexi rice - only black beans and white rice. I'd recommend Tacos La Villa, Taco T or Taqueria Real de la Villa if you're looking for tacos in this area. All three of those are better (and cheaper) than this place. read more

OK, I wanted to like this place... but it was just ok. I ordered the quesadilla with Barbecoa and it came with a salad. The salad was OK but needed a little help on the dressing side. It had nice fresh lettuce(not iceburg) with cucumbers, tomatoes and a very light vinegarette dressing. The quesadilla was fine as far as amount of brisket and cheese. A little on the greasy side! I had hoped for some hot pickled vegetables, sour cream, guacamole, tomatoes or something on the side but that wasn't the case. I guess I am spoiled by places like the Taco Truck L1000000. Taco Cantina was more inviting on the store front level, but the taste of the food is king. I had another concern when at Taco Cantina... I could not find the health score posted anywhere. The licenses were up but no health score. The place looked clean on the customer side which was great. Just left me wondering why it was not posted in plain site. The price seemed a bit high for what you got too. I know prices are going up, but almost $13 for a basic Quesadilla to go, umm I don't know. Another thing I am beginning to dislike... automatic tip coming up on the payment options. It was made difficult to say no tip but assumed the customer would tip with the automatic option as 20%. Look, I like to tip for service, but asking me what I want and calling my name when it is ready is Not a tip situation. When I sit down and am served at a table I gladly tip for good service. I feel like the real wait staffs are getting cheated if I am tipping the same for no service as real service. Covid sympathy / empathy tipping is over... sorry if you disagree. Ordered 4 tacos and didn't eat but 1. My flour shell tacos was soggy. Plus I couldn't get pass the fact that the cook was scratching his eyes and hair without using gloves cooking. I wasn't sure what to expect from this restaurant but I was pleasantly surprised! It's a small place and you first order at counter then pick up your food. There's a salsa bar with all kinds of salsas for your complimentary chips. I tried the mildest salsa and it was delicious. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and this was the BEST Cuban sandwich I've had in GA so far! It was well portioned and very moist. The flavor was perfect! This is literally a mile from my home! My boyfriend and I came here looking to eat something in the middle of everything being closed during "hurricane Irma." Hotel initially gave us the basic Mexican restaurants and after seeing the poor reviews on Yelp asked where they went for Mexican. They all said Taco Cantina and after going I understand why they wanted to save it for the locals....because they are awesome! It was so unexpected that I didn't take photos to post. We had the chipotle salmon taco, Diablo shrimp taco, the grilled tilapia taco and the teriyaki steak taco. All were a big hit with exception of steak taco...felt it was more like a gravy on the steak. Had the nachos with chicken and they were HUGE and delicious! The jalapeños will get you in them! The queso and guacamole were great additions. Don't get the chips and salsa because they have a free salsa bar and you basically pay $5 for chips and bowl for salsa. I've recently moved within walking distance to this location and the smells from this place is what intrigued me and I decided to stop by. I personally LOVE a good taco and being new to the area, I hoped the location closest to me could be my "go to" spot. I've tried the tacos, and burritos at this location. The tacos were tasty as you can't really mess those up haha. However, the burritos were a bit more "baha-like" than authentic. I guess that is the "Cantina" part of the name in the restaurant haha. The meat is flavored very well. So I will say, if you are looking for a quick bite, this will be a nice place to stop! There's parking on the side and in the back of the building so that won't be an issue! I live 5 minutes away from this corner restaurant. I pass it each day on my way to and from work. I regret that I have lived here in Smyrna for two years and have passed this restaurant at least 500 times and just stopped in for the first time tonight! I walked in just after 8:30PM (they close at 9PM). Often times when a restaurant nears close so does their desire to entertain last minute customers. Not here!! The staff was so friendly. They were patient with me and all my first timer questions. And the service was prompt! Not only was the service amazing; The food was amazing! I ordered the Cantina Special. For $6.95 (before tax) I received 3 tacos (chicken tinga, steak, & chicken), rice, and black beans. I added tomato, lettuce, sour cream, and cheese. Oh wow. The place was pretty busy on a rainy Sunday around 2pm. We had several naked tacos: chicken tinga, carne asada, and carnitas. All were great. I really enjoyed the Asian beef taco- super salty but I love that. The fried chicken taco is not to be missed. They have a little salsa bar with salsas, cilantro, limes, onion, pickled onions (my favorite), etc. I saw a lot of orders go by with tortas- I'll be back to try those ASAP.
