I spent two months in Guatemala when I was in graduate school and had an amazing time. One of the most popular restaurants there is Pollo Campero. The people love their fried chicken, and I thought that it was even better than KFC. Well, when we first moved to Atlanta they had a location in Roswell. It closed many years ago. When I was driving through Marietta, I was shocked to see another Pollo Campero location, so I had to stop and try the food. When I was placing my order, I told the cashier that I had eaten at their restaurant in Antigua, Guatemala. She looked surprised, and she told me that she was originally from Guatemala. She also told me that she preferred the food back home. So, if you're looking to try something a little different, stop by the Pollo Campero in Marietta. The chicken is good and different from the competition. They also have some unique side dishes, such as fried plantains. They also offer a cinnamon horchata drink. The employees are friendly and the food is good, but it doesn't taste exactly like the fried chicken in Guatemala. If you ever want to try the real deal, plan a trip to Guatemala someday. You'll discover wonderful people, food, language and culture.

Another delicious chicken spot. Located off of Cobb Parkway, Pollo Campero is now open for dine-in. Don't want to eat in, then do the drive-thru or take it to go. The staff is friendly, the place is clean, and plenty of tables. Stop in and give it a try!

The fried chicken is excellent and so are the sides. However I will say that the prices are a little ridiculous. They are even higher than the picture posted of the menu. Apparently they have increased the prices since that photo. Drinks are not included with the meal. I have to deduct stars for the price.

Chipotle is way better. Over spiced, dry, bland meat, mash potatoes tasted old also. Moe's next door so that's an option!

RC had approached her with a flier at a gas station, informing her that his restaurant had just opened up. Anyway, I'm ordering my meal, the same meal I always get each time I go. Fried fish (whiting), collards and the baked beans (unmatched). And he goes, "What would you like to drink?".... I'm like, "What do you have?" (Assuming the usual. Sweet tea. Lemonade... I was probably gonna go with sweet tea. ) He lists sweet tea of course, and then hes like, "Kool-Aid, coke, sprite" - IM LIKE WAIT. DID YOU SAID KOOL-AID?......... He's like, "Yeah??..." Im like, "what flavor???.... "Purple?...." I had never heard of that at a restaurant, and quiet frankly, that's all I needed to know. At this point, I literally go nowhere else for soul food. Also, RC is amazing. Really good guy, and his team offer the best service as well. A job well done, always.

We ordered 3 plates, 2 drinks, and peach cobbler for a total of almost $80.00. I had the turkey wing dinner with rice, collard greens and yams as my sides. I love that rice isn't included as a side. The food was good and seasoned. My partner ordered the Salisbury steak with mac n cheese and mash potatoes. My son had the jerk thighs, mash potatoes, and mac n cheese. We all each enjoyed our plates. The restaurant is set up cafeteria style and you can enjoy your food there or Togo. The kool aid was good but the tea and kool aid mix was not. I tasted more tea that kool aid. I would definitely eat here again.

However, after recently moving over this way and it being on my route home, I opted to try it. It's a stand alone place that is similar to Checkers style of serving: drive through and walk-up (no indoors dining). Their menu is simple: chicken, fries, coleslaw and garlic bread. Soooo, the good: the sweet tea, dipping sauce and coleslaw. The bad: the chicken, cost and wait time. Honest opinion: this is the redheaded stepchild to Raising Canes. It's a deviation from Zaxbys. Both Raising Canes and Guthries have basically tried to imitate Zaxbys. The only thing this place has on either is their dipping sauce (which also is very similar to Zaxbys). I paid $13 for 5 small chicken fingers. And they were small. Wasn't a fan of the batter either. Well, at least they tried. Makes zero sense to have this place near Zaxby's. Save your money and get the Wings N Things at Zaxby's. Ugh, I hate being disappointed when I try something new.

One can order just as you step in the door or get a table. I sat myself but maybe you are suppose to wait to be seated when it is busy. The menu goes in a lot directions from soup to appetizers to a whole or half chicken... I was there for crispy wings! There are several flavors and I asked the server for help. She wasn't a spicy fan so she steered me towards the garlic and honey/honey and soy wings. I ordered the small, 6 wings. The pickled radish was my side- you can choose a can of soda or cole slaw . Out came a small dish of the pickled radish followed a little later by 8 wings. The server explained that they typically have jumbo wings but that's not what they had today so they added another one to make up for it. That's a 5 star review right there! The wings were hot out of the dryer, perfectly seasoned with a sticky sauce that wasn't coated and drippy but rather just the right amount for a great meal and not 50 napkins and new shirt. What a gem! They are doing it right!

The sauces are a real highlight, especially the gochujang-based one, which was absolutely phenomenal. They're generous with the sauce, too, which adds even more flavor to an already well-executed dish. That said, it's hard to ignore the price point. This is easily the most expensive Korean fried chicken spot I've been to. While the quality justifies the cost to an extent, it's still a noticeable jump from other similar places. And while the chicken is very good, it's not necessarily the best in Atlanta--though it's definitely in the top tier. Another thing that stood out was the lack of lower-cost or smaller portion options. There were only half and whole birds available, with no quarter bird or sandwich options, which makes it difficult for someone looking for a more affordable or lighter meal. It feels like they're missing an opportunity to appeal to a broader lunch crowd. In short: it's pricey, but you're getting high-quality, expertly prepared Korean fried chicken. Just be prepared to spend a bit more--and maybe come hungry.
