I spent two months in Guatemala when I was in graduate school and had an amazing time. One of the most popular restaurants there is Pollo Campero. The people love their fried chicken, and I thought that it was even better than KFC. Well, when we first moved to Atlanta they had a location in Roswell. It closed many years ago. When I was driving through Marietta, I was shocked to see another Pollo Campero location, so I had to stop and try the food. When I was placing my order, I told the cashier that I had eaten at their restaurant in Antigua, Guatemala. She looked surprised, and she told me that she was originally from Guatemala. She also told me that she preferred the food back home. So, if you're looking to try something a little different, stop by the Pollo Campero in Marietta. The chicken is good and different from the competition. They also have some unique side dishes, such as fried plantains. They also offer a cinnamon horchata drink. The employees are friendly and the food is good, but it doesn't taste exactly like the fried chicken in Guatemala. If you ever want to try the real deal, plan a trip to Guatemala someday. You'll discover wonderful people, food, language and culture.

Another delicious chicken spot. Located off of Cobb Parkway, Pollo Campero is now open for dine-in. Don't want to eat in, then do the drive-thru or take it to go. The staff is friendly, the place is clean, and plenty of tables. Stop in and give it a try!

Grilled chicken to the left, fried chicken on the right. Both are great.

The entrance is a bit unassuming, but once you step inside, it opens up into a gorgeous, modern dining room with an incredible view

RC had approached her with a flier at a gas station, informing her that his restaurant had just opened up. Anyway, I'm ordering my meal, the same meal I always get each time I go. Fried fish (whiting), collards and the baked beans (unmatched). And he goes, "What would you like to drink?".... I'm like, "What do you have?" (Assuming the usual. Sweet tea. Lemonade... I was probably gonna go with sweet tea. ) He lists sweet tea of course, and then hes like, "Kool-Aid, coke, sprite" - IM LIKE WAIT. DID YOU SAID KOOL-AID?......... He's like, "Yeah??..." Also, RC is amazing. Really good guy, and his team offer the best service as well. A job well done, always.

However, after recently moving over this way and it being on my route home, I opted to try it. It's a stand alone place that is similar to Checkers style of serving: drive through and walk-up (no indoors dining). Their menu is simple: chicken, fries, coleslaw and garlic bread. Soooo, the good: the sweet tea, dipping sauce and coleslaw. The bad: the chicken, cost and wait time. Honest opinion: this is the redheaded stepchild to Raising Canes. It's a deviation from Zaxbys. Both Raising Canes and Guthries have basically tried to imitate Zaxbys. The only thing this place has on either is their dipping sauce (which also is very similar to Zaxbys). I paid $13 for 5 small chicken fingers. And they were small. Wasn't a fan of the batter either. Well, at least they tried. Makes zero sense to have this place near Zaxby's. Save your money and get the Wings N Things at Zaxby's. Ugh, I hate being disappointed when I try something new.

The food here is genuinely excellent--some of the best Korean fried chicken I've had in Atlanta…read more The skin is incredibly crispy, the meat is tender and juicy, and the chicken is clearly butchered and cooked with care. The sauces are a real highlight, especially the gochujang-based one, which was absolutely phenomenal. They're generous with the sauce, too, which adds even more flavor to an already well-executed dish. That said, it's hard to ignore the price point. This is easily the most expensive Korean fried chicken spot I've been to. While the quality justifies the cost to an extent, it's still a noticeable jump from other similar places. And while the chicken is very good, it's not necessarily the best in Atlanta--though it's definitely in the top tier. Another thing that stood out was the lack of lower-cost or smaller portion options. There were only half and whole birds available, with no quarter bird or sandwich options, which makes it difficult for someone looking for a more affordable or lighter meal. It feels like they're missing an opportunity to appeal to a broader lunch crowd. In short: it's pricey, but you're getting high-quality, expertly prepared Korean fried chicken. Just be prepared to spend a bit more--and maybe come hungry.

I finally pulled up on a Wednesday afternoon for lunch, and honestly, the sheer scale of this place is hilarious. The parking lot alone is a whole ecosystem, and the inside looks like it can comfortably seat half of Metro Atlanta with room to spare. I came with a serious appetite, so I went straight for the classic heavyweight: the Roast Turkey Entrée (all white meat). Now, when the server started listing out everything that came with it, I thought there was a glitch in the simulation. For starters, you get a soup and a salad. I went with the chicken noodle and a Caesar salad. The chicken noodle hit the spot--properly seasoned, warm, and comforting. The Caesar was solid too, crisp and fresh. But then the main plate arrived, and I'm pretty sure they harvested an entire farm for this one meal. Generous portion of white meat turkey, a mountain of mashed potatoes with gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce and a side of broccoli (gotta respect the greens). Every single item on that main plate was absolute perfection. Tender, savory, and cooked with actual respect for flavor profiles. My only real critique? The bread basket. Look, I don't know what happened there, but that roll was completely devoid of personality. Tasted like straight oxygen and flour. Unseasoned bread in 2026 is an absolute tragedy, but thankfully, the whipped butter spread saved the day and gave it a purpose in life. Between the massive portions and the endless menu options, this place is an absolute unit. You're definitely leaving with a take-home box the size of a carry-on suitcase and a strong urge to take a three-hour nap. Great energy, fast service, and legendary portions. Just bypass the plain bread and dive straight into the turkey.

And wow, what an experience it still is! Seriously, the service was absolutely top-tier - everyone was so welcoming and incredibly attentive. And the food?
