Camarón Enchilado ($5.50) - This is may be my new favorite shrimp taco. It was bursting with flavor and the chipotle crema and cheese balanced the spice from the shrimp so well. Definitely their best taco! Carne Asada ($4.90) - The meat was perfectly grilled and very flavorful. Birria ($4.90) - The meat was tender but surprisingly lacked flavor. Their house salsas made up for it though

Tacos were okay, and I found this spot to be a place that would feed the munchies or late-night grub vibes. Tried the churros and those were okay too, but I appreciated how they were served piping hot. Prices are decent; the food is decent, good, loud music, and straightforward, efficient service.

BEST Fresh Corn Tortilla ever tasted. Food & service are great. Ambiance seem like an american burger spot. Full Salsa-bar with MachaChili and mushrooms taco and Birria Pizza definitely try

After having Ice cream next door, we walked here to try some of their Tacos, chose the Carne Asada Taco, Mar y Tierra Taco and Coctel ( Shrimp Cocktail) w My son and I like the Tacos more compared to other taco places in the Area. The tortilla is nicely done and fresh , we took some condiments but we ended up not using them since their meats are well seasoned. They do have a good amount of tables inside and outdoors. About Parking night time is mostly hard to find especially on weekends; it's packed , we just always get lucky to find handicap parking.

Tacos Al pastor, taco camarón, Baja taco and chips and queso
    Daniel S.

The tacos here are amazing. I came here with my brother and we both agree the taco camarón is the best (shrimp tacos). We also got the tacos Al pastor, Baja taco which were tasty too. The chips were a bit stale and I expected the queso to be yellow/white but it was bright orange. Almost tasted like cheddar so it wasn't my favorite. My I have gotten fries there before which were some of the best fries. They serve tacos really quick which i appreciate. I'm always coming back here!

Funky taco and burrito place. Great music, outside and inside dining. Great service. Freshly made everything.

Honestly i was expecting much more since i heard so many good things. It's possible we just came on an off day, but I was not impressed with the food. I ordered the Queso birria taco. It came with consumme and it looked good, but had zero flavor. The meat tasted as if they forgot to add any seasoning at all, and so did the consumme. The taco was also way too soggy from all of the juice, even without dipping it. The meat was tender, so that was a plus. My lunch partners food was the same way, no flavor on the carne asada meat. The rice and beans were good, i enjoyed them. They do have a salsa bar which is nice. They don't do any complimentary chips, which i think some restaurants are moving away from. I might give them a 2nd chance if im nearby to see if it was an off day.

TACO MAR Y TIERRA, TACO AL PASTOR

Decent taco spot if you're in the Gaslamp area as they are open until 3AM. I really liked their Mar Y Tierra taco, Al Pastor was just okay but they are very generous with meat and toppings so that was nice. Lots of salsa and fresca options as well.

Yum! The tacos were delicious and packed with filling. I loved the sauces as well. I liked that there was plenty of available seating outside, which had a good ambiance.

This was the first stop on my Gaslamp Taco Crawl with my wife. Taco Centro has a great salsa bar and when you order chips they come out hot and fresh. They could have used some salt, but by far the best chips on the crawl. I went with the Al pastor and it had the classic Al pastor flavor, but nothing that made it stand out. The meat was tender, but not crispy like Al pastor should be, in my opinion. 5 's for the chips and salsa. 3 's for the Al Pastor. My wife got the Pollo Asada and she enjoyed it. Service was fast and the food was hot!

Hubby and I stopped and gave this place a try. Excellent carnitas, the Al Pastor meat seemed to be refried meat was curled and not slivered off the fresh rotation wheel. Birria taco had good flavor, it was not served with juices. Tacos were good and had great flavor was delicious. We paid $4.99 per taco. I think they should add two tortillas, tortillas fell apart and had to eat the taco with a fork. Just add two tortillas. Glad we came. Laura S

Love that this location is open from 3am on Saturdays not that I was planning on staying up that late though but it's good to know if I had the midnight munchies for good tacos that I'd have a spot to go to. Got my food in about 10 minutes which is good because I was hungry. The chips and guacamole were really good. We really enjoyed them. I got a carne asada taco and a shrimp taco. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the shrimp taco more than the carne asada one and I'm usually a carne asada girl. I think it's because the habanero salsa wasn't as hot as I usually like it but it was good. I also got the avocado salsa which was good. We sat outside on the benches and watched people as they walked by on a Saturday night which was pretty entertaining. All in all, a nice spot and glad I stopped by.

Really good surf and turf nachos. Also, they serve a really good shrimp burrito. The portions are pretty good and well seasoned.

I picked a place off Google but when we landed there we were not comfortable stopping to park, so we looked again and decided to check out La Puerta not realizing it was in the Gaslight District. I am not a fan of the Gaslight District, which is why I am so mad!! I'm going to HAVE to go back to the Gaslight District!! The food was AMAZING!! I HIGHLY recommend the Potato Flautitas. It's the kind of dish I'm going to dream about, I'm salivating now just thinking about them. I also did the Pick 3 Street Tacos (and actually ordered a 4th). The Ranchero Shrimp and Grilled Veggie were top notch. The Conchinita was recommended by our waiter, and it was interesting, tasty but different. It could have used a little more pickled onion. The only one I would not recommend (shockingly, I thought it would be the easy pass) was the carne asada. It was too greasy. My husband ordered a carne asada quesadilla and said the same, it was too wet and soaked through the tortilla. But there were no many other delightful options, I would say just don't go traditional. But honestly my favorite thing on the plate was the side dish rajas con crema, seriously, that alone is going to drag me down to the Gaslight District. I'm even considering going to a Padres game just for the excuse. I'm salivating again! As for our waiter, Colin, he was fantastic. Very informative, made great suggestions and seemed genuinely pleased by our satisfaction. He was smiling the whole time, friendly and stayed very present. I highly recommend you get yourself through the door at La Puerta and sit down for a meal ASAP. (We ate the food so fast I forgot to take pictures.)

The bar scene is lively, making it a fun spot whether you're out with friends or on a date. The service was excellent--friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our meal. The food was equally impressive, with flavorful, well-prepared Mexican dishes that exceeded our expectations. What I enjoyed most was the diverse crowd. People from all walks of life came together to enjoy good company, delicious food, and a festive atmosphere. It truly felt like a place where everyone could relax, connect, and have a great time. I highly recommend visiting on Taco Tuesday. It's a fantastic value, with delicious tacos and TJ Dogs for just $3 each. The tacos were packed with flavor, and the TJ Dogs were just as tasty. It's hard to beat the quality, atmosphere, and prices. We'll definitely be back!

DJ decided on a house margarita. Both very refreshing on a still summer Sunday morning! The brunch menu has a nice variety to choose from, but choosing one can be a little hard. I ordered guacamole to start. It came with two delicious salsas. For breakfast, I ordered the pancakes and carnitas. I would say this would be the equivalent of chicken and waffles. This was really good! Especially when you drizzle the syrup on the carnitas and eat it with the pancakes. I also added a couple of scrambled eggs. DJ had the breakfast carne asada potatoes and eggs. Came with guacamole and pico de gallo. Soooooo good! The portions are huge which, in this crazy world of cutting back and charging more, is how it should be. I could only finish half, and had the rest the next day. Love when you can do that! Again, the staff is great! And the patio is well laid out for owners and their dogs. Cako Approves!

We had a reservation and were really excited to give it a try. Unfortunately, the experience just did not meet our expectations. We ended up being late to our reservation because we were told that the Lafayette parking valet was full and that we would need to find parking elsewhere. We drove around trying to find somewhere to park and literally could not find anything, so we eventually had to Uber from a couple of blocks away. Obviously, some of that was out of the restaurant's control, but it definitely made getting there more stressful than expected. Once we were finally seated, things didn't really improve. We sat there looking at the menu for around 30 minutes and no one came by to check on us, ask if we wanted drinks, see if we had questions, or even acknowledge that we had been waiting. We were honestly just sitting there wondering if someone was going to come over. Eventually, we started talking about leaving because we had been waiting so long. Our waiter finally came over and basically said that it seemed like we weren't ready to order and that he assumed we still weren't, so we could let him know whenever we were ready. My friend explained that we actually had been ready and had just been waiting for someone to come help us. At that point, we decided to be honest and let him know that the experience really wasn't meeting our expectations. Unfortunately, the overall interaction left us feeling like we weren't really being taken seriously. I don't want to assume that it was because we were a group of young girls, but that was genuinely the impression we got from the experience. It felt like we didn't really belong there or weren't being treated with the same level of attention as other guests. We also mentioned that we were celebrating my friend's birthday, and there really wasn't any acknowledgment of it, which was disappointing considering that was the reason we were visiting in the first place. I will say that the aesthetic is beautiful and definitely what originally caught our attention, but unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed that for us. We came in excited to celebrate and try somewhere new, and we ended up leaving without even ordering because we felt so overlooked. Maybe we caught them on an off night, but unfortunately, based on our experience, I wouldn't return or recommend it. The atmosphere may be beautiful, but the service needs to match it.
