So tonight I decided to try out Taco Delite in Wylie according to their somewhat good reviews on Google. My boyfriend was literally just at Taco Delite around 9:15pm tonight, not even an hour ago. He's the one that ordered a enchilada dinner, chili, chicken tortilla soup, nachos, soft beef tacos, & a soft chicken taco. So I'm like half way eating everything & I opened the chili & scooped some & right when the spoon touched my tongue I looked down & saw antennas in the chili & immediately asked him to check it out because I'm way to scared of bugs to do it myself. This is what he found. Ughhhh I'm so disgusted I mean I somewhat understand that a cricket could've just jumped in the pot or something but then again why is their pot that they cook their chili in not covered with a lid at all times??? So Taco Delite isn't going to win any awards for authentic Mexicano street food. It's a fast food joint, ala Taco Bell, but the food is tons better than the swill that Taco Bell serves now. My next trip will be to partake in the joy known as a "taco burger". I used to eat those as a kid in Louisiana at a placy called Granny Burgers and they were the bomb. This has been a family favorite for years! My mom was here from California so for her last night I said let's go here out of our way from Allen. The taco shells were stale. The chicken fajita nachos were just shredded chicken with cheese only. The guacamole only lasted about 30 minutes before turning brown. THIS PLACE IS BEYOND WORDS AMAZING!! They have THE BEST homemade mexican food in the entire world!!! Any time I mention that I am going here to someone and they can't go their reaction is always the same "awww man....lucky!!!!" They have free ice cream, if you dine in. AWESOME! Not gonna lie, there's nothing super special about Taco Delite. But I like it because it's not a corporate chain and the quality is infinitely superior to the utter crap they serve at Taco Bell. When it comes to burritos and tacos, they're pretty generous with ingredients. Every taco I've ever had has literally been overflowing with simmered ground beef and cheese - so much so I can never keep it in the taco while I eat it. There are also some not-so-common menu items like Taco Burgers and Taco Salads here, all of which are tasty. And it's a great place to eat on a budget. Taco Delite is WAY better than taco bell. I live in Sachse & ever since I've discovered the location in Wylie I've not been anywhere else for quick fast food tex mex. I REALLY like their guacamole, freshly made daily along with their salsa. Daily lunch specials til 3pm Happy hour 1/2 price soft drinks & tea special from 3 to 5pm. They have a drive thru that's always fast to get in & out of. Friendly employees, especially during the day. Alot of locals frequent here, they're happily greeted by name & treated like family. Popular menu items ordered are the mix & match tacos & burrito special (10 for 10$) Taco salad, nachos, combination dinners. Easy fast food in Wylie! A very white Americanized version of Mexican food (and I mean veeeeery white) but the staff is incredibly friendly, the establishment is clean, and the drive thru is fast and accurate. Taco Delite is a decent place! TLDR version is the tacos are just too Americanized for my palate. The service is fast and friendly. The tacos themselves are stacked high into large flour tortillas and the meat is of good quality and in generous portions, but the chicken is your garden variety shredded chicken and the beef is ground beef not terribly different from other American taco chains. They pile on the fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese as well, rounding out what is a very good deal for the money if this is the type of taco you're into. In a State as big as Texas there are more TexMex places than you can shake a stick at. Taco Delite far and away blows all fast food places away. Nachos consisted of a plate of chips, covered in a generous portion of processed cheese and jalapenos on the side. Taco Casa on steroids, and I think Delite existed before Casa. That's pretty much all you need to know. The place looks very unassuming, but once you are inside you see the extent of the menu and won't believe you are at a fast food taco place. You can't go wrong with the burritos or nachos here and the Taco Burger is a personal favorite. Nope. Nope. Nope. I remembered liking the T.D. in Frisco years ago. Tried this today and couldn't even eat it. I pulled in and wasn't even sure if they were open. There was only one car in the parking lot at 1:15 on a Friday. I ordered the platter with 1 soft/1 crispy beef taco, rice & beans. I ate some of the beans which were fine but they had so much cheese on them it made it difficult to eat. I would never complain about "too much" cheese (is there even such a thing?), but this cheese was like glue yet somehow not really melted. Took one bite of rice which looked gross and tasted like nothing. The crispy taco shell was stale and tough. Then, I realized the beef smelled like...fish?! Taco Delite has good food. That is not my issue with them. My issue with them is every time I go through the drive through (at night) they always forget something I ask for. They never seem to get an order 100% correct. Sure, fast food places make mistakes, but this many times in a row???? My orders are not complicated. I am saying they forget to include chips in a meal that comes with them (like the Taco Plate) or they forget to add sour cream when I asked for it. They have plenty of staff from what I can see. Someone needs to get the staff inline there at night on the drive through. read more
