They messed up my order. I got 2 dinners, and ate the red chicken dinner first at home. I put away the pork taco dinner in the refrigerator. I didn't open it, because I knew it would have temptations. 2 hours later, I opened the dinner and it was completely wrong. I ordered pork tacos with everything on them, no cilantro. What I got was steak with onions on burnt white tortillas. I was shocked. I tried calling a number but it only said, they do not have a voice mail setup. So, I tried this plain steak and onion and it was nasty. The taste was terrible. I went back the next day and spoke with the " head manager ". SHE said to bring the receipt so we can put it in to be made. I said, okay. I went back 3 hours later, no manager and both the girl and guy gave e a hard time about replacing my order. It cost me about $18 dollars. They refused to make it up again, saying " you had to bring it back if it was wrong. ". So....they could care less about satisfy a teed off customer. They didn't even care about getting this bad review. He said, " That's sucks".. and I replied, " yeah, sucks for you. I'm telling my bad review again." DO NOT GO TO THEY CARELESS PEOPLE. I had originally ordered an order of chips and salsa, and a small cup of corn. I went to checkout it popped up for me to add something, so I added a steak taco. I checked out and realized that I deleted my chips and corn off my order, I called to see what my options were. They basically told me to order again and it will together, I told her I don't want to pay for the delivery fee again since it was expensive. After I said that they told me there was nothing they can do, I am not happy with their service at all. Hopefully next time they will help the customer out. read more

Great food and great service! I just went to "Taco Depot" today since I was in town to get a haircut. My wife and I absolutely love their Karla tacos and Karla quesadillas. ("Karla" is Taco Depot's name for their birria style tacos and quesadillas because a family member is from Jalisco, which is where the birria style tacos originated). Today, I got the big quesadilla, which they place in a pizza box. Eight (8) slices of absolute deliciousness! I also got some "guac" and some salsa. Both orders automatically come with chips. But that chunky guac is straight fire ! I just saw today that they have a Karla Box (4 Karla tacos, a Karla quesadilla, steak fries, and a roasted jalapeño. I told the wife that we're getting that next time! Check them out if you're ever in the area! You won't be disappointed! read more

The food was not good. I wouldn't go as far to say awful because we did eat it but never again. The steak tacos were greasy, but it wasn't the meat, it was the tortillas. The tortillas were literally dripping with grease. The steak was fatty which is a big turn off for me, so I didn't finish my meal. The karla tacos were not as advertised. They looked just like my steak tacos. The only way we knew which order was what is because I had fries and my husband has rice & beans. In the pictures are A self served agua de Jamaica (was good not too sweet and refillable), a small steak burrito w/everything (good), hot and mild salsas, all those were watered down ketchup and grounded up green tomatoes, no flavor at all. The "QUESAbirria" was HORRIBLE. We Should have know it was going to be when they asked if we wanted quesadillas or tacos....I mean isn't it a given? The tortilla was made of flour not corn. The meat was barbacoa NOT birria, the consomé was water with beef flavor adobo. NO cilantro or onions NO flavor! The Customer service was not helpful when I was looking around wondering what to order. They could have pointed to the rest of the menu hiding behind the soda fountain. At least the restaurant was clean. Maybe next time we'll try something different and take our own salsas. read more

Instead of a steak burrito, I got a lettuce burrito and it was ice cold. So they warm up the little bit of steak, add the toppings, extra extra lettuce and don't even put it back in the grill to warm up, very unpleasant. The messed up my el pastor tacos and gave my carnitas tacos instead and they had no flavor, thank goodness for the cilantro and onion. Most places we order from, the food order service requests that, but never actually labels. My coworker suggested the Karla tacos, & they did NOT disappoint. I was a little saddened as I was missing 1 of my 4 tacos from the Karla taco dinner I had ordered. The eloté was wonderful! I do wish there was a bit more cheese, mayo, & butter. When I first tried the Karla Shrimp Tacos I was hooked. Everything about them were on point. I was pregnant so it became a quick go to for a $20 dollar holla. I ordered this almost every other day........but something changed. The cook or consistency I can't put my finger on it. I can't order the tacos twice in a row with the same quality. 2 out of 4 times I'm regretting wasting my money on what I once thought was a hidden treasure. I used to go to taco depot back when it was tucked away by the bakers square in Merrillville. LOVED it then, great tacos, even better burritos, great price and service. I was beyond sad when they closed. I recently found out they opened another place in the northern part of Merrillville, and I was over the moon. We got a wide assortment of tacos and burritos, brought it home and it was FANTASTIC. prepared food always taste better than fast food, and this place is no joke. Took a chance after reading reviews. Ordered 3 beef tacos and a elote. Tacos are small but good. They should take elote off their menu cause it's a no. LIGHT (emphasis on the light) ingredients on top none through out the rest of cup (in the middle and bottoms like real corn) so really only the top is 'elote' the rest is watery corn that you can tell is out of a can. read more
