El poblano delivers again , 3 steak burritos out of the world as always. Few little mistakes but not crazy. I eat here my share and this is the best for Mexican food, Norris tacos good to

Bad food. The service? Even worse. Slow, dismissive, and downright rude. Management clearly has no idea how to run a restaurant, let alone keep customers happy. One star feels generous. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. If you've truly hit rock bottom and decide to give it a shot, do yourself a favor, skip the chile rellenos. Unless you enjoy them ice-cold with rice that's both undercooked and flavorless. But hey, if you're already here, maybe that's your thing.

Stopped here for lunch on our way home from an 8 mile hike at Indiana Dunes. We sat at the bar and had the best service. This was the best restaurant experience we've had in a while. I got the chicken chimichanga lunch special which was HUGE! I took half of it home to have as leftovers. The BlackBerry Mojito was on special for $7.50. This is definitely a come back to restaurant!

Hubby and I chose El Poblano Mexican Restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. We'd been there years before with our son and daughter-in-law and thought the food was wonderful. It was again wonderful! But things have changed. Hubby ordered a mar y tierra at $32.99 and I ordered a Quesadilla Dinner (with shrimp) at 20.98. He also ordered a beer and I an 18 oz House Margarita at an astounding $11.49. Mind you, hubby's large steak and butterflied shrimp were perfect, except for the large fatty end of the steak. His also came with rice, refried beans and salad. See photo for my dish, attractive, and those quesadillas were sooo tasty. I ate almost all mine, hubby could not finish his. We'd been out most of the day and prior to chips, went to wash our hands where we were greeted with a strong sewer smell. They had air fresheners posted near the doors but no mistaking the odor. We got the tortilla chips and salsa variety shortly before the dinner, which thankfully came before I got tipsy on the drink. Our server, Jose, was gracious, helpful, and gave us just the right amount of time and privacy, did not interrupt the meal except to check on us appropriately. Then here he came with two shots--tequilla? We were both surprised. I tasted but couldn't drink it. I wondered if that was going to be added to the check. It was not. But the last surprise was the "Other Tip" at 14.09. Hubby and I routinely make sure we have cash for the tip and were prepared with a twenty until we noted that--pulled the twenty and left a ten, unhappy with the fourteen added to the check. Taxes were another $6.76. Really, our food experience was exceptional, the service great, the atmosphere pleasant except for the bathroom excursion. But it may have gotten too pricey for our return.

Friday night.. seated right away... chips and salsa while waiting on drinks.. off to a great start!!!

Service alone is phenomenal!!!!! Our waitress named was Rachel and she was amazing. I tell you I thought I was a celebrity with the service we got. There was like 2-3 other guys coming to make sure we didn't want more chips and salsa, coming to clear stuff off the table and all. The hostess greeted us with a smile and asked where we wanted to sit after she gave us the different seating options. The place looked pretty clean but the menus were kind of sticky. The food was ok but the service will definitely make me come back over and over again. Our bill was a little over $100 bucks which isn't bad for 2 apps, 4 dinners and 3 drinks. Check them out!!! You won't regret it.

The new location is beautifully decorated with great ambiance. The food as always is exceptional. Service is always fast and attentive. I will be coming here for my birthday lunch this year.

This place has me in a chokehold for real! This place is so good! The food is always served hot and the service is great! I can't really say much about the decor, but the restaurant is always clean when I come in. Definitely recommend!

The napkins my husband had to put under the birria to soak up the huge amount of grease.

We were wanting to check out A new place for Birria that was not all the way to Pilsen, and have a drink while shopping. The ambience is pretty, the service was amazing however the food not so much. The 16$ birria was the greasiest, soggy mess that came with NO sides...I had to take it home and fix it in the air fryer for my husband to eat them. The chimichanga was ok, not crispy, bland.... seems like the food came out so fast that they forgot to pay attention to quality. My house margarita was on special for a medium, however when the medium came out it was HUGE and also 17$ . Ask what the actual price is, I suppose. It was a very pretty drink, although when using dry ice in a beverage I think it's important to advise guests when and how it's safe to drink. I do give it stars for service. We will definitely stick to our place in Pilsen for our crispy, cheesy Birria.

    Jalapeño Margarita!!! Sooooo good!

110% the best Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. Got hooked on the Birreria tacos. I have tried them in several other places and they don't even cone close. The jalapeño margarita is probably the greatest margarita in the country!

The food here is good but for me everything is a little too salty. I've had a burrito here and it was loaded. Last time I had chicken flautas and they were very tasty. Service is good and fast!! This used to be a different Mexican restaurant and they kept the water features, plants, paintings everywhere. It's a very lively and fun space. Now this is the most important part. For those of you on a date to impress or for a girls night, the drinks here are amazing (not cheap though) they put dry ice in them so they smoke and bubble. I've had a few margaritas, a mojito, and a daiquiri. I'll come again for the amazing drinks (they range from $12-$30)

Watermelon Sangria and Spicy Mango Margarita

Thanks you Yelp, we came across this gem on a recent road trip. We love Mexican food and gave it a try on a Saturday for lunch. It did not disappoint. I had the Watermelon Sangria special of the day and it was huge. It also came out steaming and bubbling like it was on dry ice caldron. Which was cool because it stayed that way the whole time I was drinking it. My dining partner had a smaller frozen spicy mango margarita, which was excellent. He has the Poblano Especial and it was really good and a huge amount of food. The rice and sauce were excellent and the fresh avocado was great. I had a shrimp street taco and all the fixings off his dinner. Overall, we had a really great lunch. The atmosphere is festive and the service was very quick and friendly. My only issue was we didn't realize how expensive the drinks were (note to ask) but my drink was 20$ and his was 15$ - which was more than the food. When in town next, we will return.

Raspberry mojito bubbling (they use dry ice and it is so cool!)

Overall, an excellent experience. The food was delicious, the service solid, and the overall feel of the place was fun. After a fifteen minute wait, we were seated in a lovely booth. Immediately our server got us chips and salsa. My friend ordered the shredded beef chimichangas which she said was yummy. I ordered the a la Diabla, a spicy shrimp in chipotle sauce. Little did I know that the meal (translation: "she devil") would be on of the spiciest meals I have ever eaten. I like spice, but this was at hell heat level (thus the name). To help with the heat, I had a raspberry mojito that was sooo good. The drink comes with dry ice which makes it bubble and froth! Just an amusing touch. I was also impressed by the variety of seafood choices including seafood micheladas (spicy Mexican beer and tomato juice cocktails). If you like tequila, there is a huge list! If you want a margarita, they have some creative ones like a Candyland or Cotton Candy. And if you don't do alcohol, there are lots of non-alcoholic drinks too. If you want a unique Mexican seafood experience, I would recommend El Poblano. Creative menu, generous portions, good service, and decent prices. We will definitely be coming back!

Restaurant only had one large party and another couple. No wait time. Waitress couldn't hear our order due to loud music. We asked for a Miller Light received a Modelo. Also, asked for double rice no beans and received fries. Asked water with lemon no lemon. That's how loud music was. Drinks: Draft Modelo (fine) Classic Margarita for $11 it was a very small glass and was the worse I ever tasted. Definitely premix margarita. They don't serve traditional tortilla chips with salsa. Serve hard shell tortillas called tostadas with a very little cup of ceviche, green chili sauce and bowl of red salsa. (different but nothing special or outstanding) Appetizer: Calamari nothing outstanding Main Dish: Torta w/ fries (had better) tho price is reasonable Carne Asada asked for double rice received fries. Finally got rice and it was dry like it was from bottom of pot. Asked for skirt steak to be medium it was well. Skirt steak was thick and not tenderized like other restaurants carne asadas. Plate had lettuce and diced tomatoes. Corn tortillas were dry. Steak was good in all even though it is not the way I am use to. Some items on menu are pricey. Plates of food look nothing like pictures online unfortunately. I don't recommend as there are plenty over abundantly other better Mexican Restaurants around the area.

Very modern taste in decor. Modern Mexican music. A little bland ambiance compared to traditional Mexican restaurants but nice and clean. When we went the service was a bit slow. Very good though and very nice. Just short on staff. Overall very good. A little pricy, but good.
