Love this place - everything is really good - I especially love their birria tacos and the la gringa Hawaiiana. The al pastor tacos are also a favorite. They also have a bunch of salsas available - just ask! The woman who works there always has the biggest smile on her face; she seems really sweet. There's plenty of parking available and I feel like they're one of the few places that actually give an accurate depiction of how long it'll take for your food to be ready.

Came here a bit late on a Monday night for dinner. My friends had been telling me how good this place is for quite awhile, so when the taco cravings kicked in Taco El Chingon answered the call. The place might be a little on the small side but don't let that fool you, this place is packed with plenty of flavor. The interior is trendy and clean, a couple of places to sit if you feel inclined to stay awhile, but you can take out just as easily too. I wish I could give more than 5 stars for service, the woman behind the counter was sweet as could be and had no problem serving us even though we came in so late. Food also came out quick. Food was excellent and dare I say some of the best tacos I've ever had! We had the chips and guac to start and everything was as fresh as could be. The tacos we got were the carnitas, the chicken, beef rib, the Al pastor, and the carne asada. It's hard to pick just one favorite, but if you're only having one taco (like some sort of crazy person) my pick is on the carnitas. Perfectly juicy and flavorful. And let me tell you, they don't shy away from stuffing these tacos full, you get every last penny worth. Honorable mention to the chicken, a lot of places just phone their chicken in, but their chicken is actually good and flavorful! They have such a vast menu of a dozen other options at least that I want to try that will keep me coming back for more. Parking can be a little tight in the shared lot when it's busy, but there is also some side street parking available too if you don't mind a little extra walk.

Came in for a quick lunch after softball practice. It is located in a small strip mall in Bellmore, NY Ambience: as others have noted, it is a small cozy taco shop. It is the size and layout of a Chinese takeout, but they put some effort into the decor. Food: we ordered Tacos Al Pastor - well seasoned pork with bits of pineapple. 4/5 Tacos Arrachera (skirt steak) - flavorful, but a little tough and chewy. 3/5 Chicken Burrito - this was one big burrito! 4/5 TL/DR: fresh authentic Mexican tacos, large portions, friendly staff, what more can I say?

Just moved to Wantagh from Long Beach, which is a Mexican food desert. El Chingon is still the best on the South Shore. Even better since the remodel. Very quaint and clean. Maybe 10 tables with counter service. The ladies who work there are friendly and efficient. Now it's a 3 minute drive.

Before I had to pleasure to stop by, I was reading some of their reviews, and they were mostly excellent, and I have to agree, as I walked in I was greeted very politely by a nice woman, she explained the items to me on the menu, I took the order to go, and everything was cooked. Exactly the way I wanted it it was prompt, and when I got home, everything was delicious. This is Authentic Street Mexican food,, Plenty of room to sit down, they have a dining room right next to the kitchen, but you do have to water at the counter. The cheese quesadilla was juicy, with a touch of cilantro, made it even better. I also recommend the traditional three birria tacos w/consome dipping sauce, their burrito el chignon w/shirt steak was amazing a meal within itself , The black beans and cheese and spices were so fresh and flavorful, they also have desserts tres leches and Flan,, Hope to try that next time,, but I also recommend you try their authentic homemade style drinks My favorite was Horchata , Very creamy with a touch of caramel, the Jamaican was very good , you can taste the fresh juice, and the tamarin was wonderful,,breakfast platter & burritos are served all day , Very extensive menu, they also have soda waters and kids menu

Great food, spent some time on the west coast and was craving Mexican food, so I decided to stop by this place. Inside the restaurant it was clean and looked new. Staff were friendly. Parking lot on the outside. Variety of drinks, and food was freshly prepared! Will definitely recommend this place to friends and family, since there aren't any good taco/Tex-mex food places around Bellmore/wantagh Much better tacos than a more upscaled and expensive taco place right down the road Oh and their breakfast platters/burritos are also good Will update with photos next time read more

I've had many chicken quesadillas in both long island and the boroughs. This place hands down has the best quesadillas. I love that they come with cilantro, onions, and the chicken is marinated. The staff is really nice and they are very clean inside. read more

This place is soooooooo good!!! I lived in Mexico for 3 years and being back on Long Island , I have missed REAL AUTHENTIC mexican food. This place is so great. Def. I have been craving authentic tacos for weeks now. I saw Taco el Chingon before, but have never had a chance to try it. Last night I decided to give it a go and it has seriously satisfied every taco craving I'll have for a while. This was my third time eating tacos in 2 days because the others just didn't cut it for me. The lady was very nice and brought the food out to my car after ordering. The tacos came with 4 sauces and pickled onions. All of the tacos had great flavor. I 100% recommend trying this place! read more

This is a really good hole in the wall spot. I just got the number 21 quesedia la sabor with two smaller beef tacos and everything was delicious! The amount of sauces the provide without even asking is great ! I'm all about the sauces and when I picked up my food the nice lady at the counter assured me they all were in there and they were different levels of spice on the 5 different sauces. I'm definitely ordering here again soon! Good luck finding it you'd figure it's facing the Main Street like all the other stores but it's in a small shopping complex. Definitely worth trying out! read more

This place is top notch for Mexican food. I travel high and low to get the best Mexican food on the island and this place never fails. They have a more authentic type of Mexican menu which I love. The prices are fair and the employees are always friendly. Anything I've ever tried on their menu has been delicious. It's a small place and due to covid I've never actually dined in, just gotten take out. Everyone should come try out this place and support local business ! Five stars !!! read more

I grew up in San Diego. I've been eating Mexican food for my entire life. I thought that I wouldn't get great Mexican food after moving to New York but then I found Taco El Chingon. Hands down, best Mexican food in New York. Most authentic, best tasting. So many options. Every dish they make is amazing. I recommend it to anyone!! read more

I grew up in bellmore. Being one of the only latinas around this area I was really happy when this place opened since there is not many authentic Mexican spots around the bellmore/merrick area. It's a family owned buisness and I must say these are the best taco's I've had from around here. Birria taco's are a must try. read more

Everything about this place is fantastic! I've been here twice now. Got tacos both times. I've tried the Carnitas, chorizo, and al pastor fillings, and they are all fantastic. They are perfectly seasoned and very tasty. I've also had their flautas, which are also very good. The owner is very friendly and helpful if you want to ask her opinion on what to order. One of my favorite things about Taco El Chingon is their salsa bar. They have many salsa you can choose from, which can add new delicious flavors to the already fantastic food. read more

I had this place bookmarked in my yelp for months and finally had a chance to try it out! It wasn't terrible but it wasn't as amazing as I thought it would be! The Al pastor tacos were good but the steak was not as flavorful as I hoped! I thought the sauces would be more salsa-ish but it wasn't. Overall- I wouldn't make the trip back again. read more

I saw the reviews on yelp and decided to give it a try today for lunch. I am so happy I did. I have eaten at a number of Mexican spots on Long Island and this by far was amazing! The tacos were light but filling. There was plenty of toppings and meat on each taco. The guacamole was also delicious. I can't wait to order this again in a few days! The most authentic Mexican tacos I've had since returning from the west coast. I had their carnitas tacos with their fresh raw tomatillo salsa and a mango Jarritos soda- perfection! The woman who owns the place makes all the food herself and they're open until 9pm most days with delivery until 8pm. Do yourself a favor and taste a little bit of the cuisine most lacking in NY- authentic Mexican. You won't be sorry! read more

Ok so We wanted Mexican food , I went to my yelp app to see what was near and once again I wasn't disappointed .We walked in and were greeted with free sample tacos to try which was the best thing the owner could do. They were excellent we then ordered the Monday taco special and the kids had quesadillas one chicken and one steak also excellent very nice place clean food area and food is fresh not processed it seems to be a family run shop which is nice these days not much room to eat in but we managed we will definitely be back the prices are moderate for what you get I definitely recommended on a night that your up in the air with choosing take out read more

Best taco place in the area - no doubt!! I've had the taco spots nearby chain and small business. Tacos el Chingon are hands down the best taco spot within at the very least a five town radius. I overlooked them for no real reason for over a year but if you are around the area it's definitely a must have. This will definitely will be my new tacos spot. Torta was amazing, huarache was a blessing and the tacos were amazing (they are what a taco should taste like and more. On another note, I'm pretty picky about my horchatas. They have an amazing horchata!! Must go!! read more

Just found this place last week for lunch and then tried this morning for breakfast. Definitely recommend. Traditional Mexican style food here not the Tex Mex style so abundant on Long Island. Lunch I had the tacos and got chorizo, Asada, and carnitas all of which were delicious. The breakfast burrito with chorizo though!!! Amazing!! That inspired me to review as I rarely ever do, but this place needs more reviews and I don't want them to ever leave Bellmore! Try it. read more

Found myself in this area kind of by accident and I'm so glad I did. By far the best tacos I've had on the East Coast let alone Long Island. I had the chorizo, pollo, and carnitas. They all were amazing but the carnitas was especially the stand out. My husband had the American tacos (yes I gave him a hard time for ordering that when the options available sounded so much better) and he really enjoyed them. We also split the guacamole and chips. The guac tasted fresh made and had solid chunks of avocado in it. All in all I highly recommend. I absolutely will be driving over to the area again specifically for the food. read more

I was pleasantly surprised my expectations for Mexican food on Long island is usually not met most times! Steak Quesadillas were excellent the meat was well seasoned like the Carne Asada I remember from San Diego 4 nice size pieces! Chicken Nachos were loaded with well seasoned chicken lots of jalapenos,cheese,refried beans a real nice size portion! Hot sauce was not overwhelming but spicy and flavorful! Came with multiple other sauces fresh pico,chipotle and guacamole! I will definitely be trying other menu items! A nice well maintained place and staff was great! read more

We were too early for the Tuesday $3.50 margarita happy hour (starts at 4:00), so shared a half pitcher of house margaritas instead - they were tasty and strong. (Please don't judge me for early alcohol intake, had a hellish morning so needed a nice numbing agent:) My Mole Poblano Enchiladas were fantastic, 3 of them loaded with chunks of chicken and covered with a sublime mole sauce. Partner's Burrito Mojado was made with skirt steak, he said it was delicious as well. The dishes came with yummy rice and beans, and each plate was embellished with a lovely purple orchid.

The tacos were some of the best I've had. Loaded with meat and nicely seasoned. Chips and homemade salsa is served right away. The salsa amazing. You could tell it was homemade. We also got the guacamole which was also good. Carne asada taco was loaded with tender juicy steak. The shrimp and shredded chicken taco were also very good choices. The chicken enchiladas were also very good. The staff were very friendly and attentive. If you are looking for a good Mexican meal in a sit down atmosphere give this place a try you won't be disappointed. They are also reasonably priced.

I suspect quality ingredients are at play. I also had a glass or two of white wine and these are generous pours, friends. The menu is priced extremely fairly in these tough times. There's not many vegan options on the menu (plenty of vegetarian) however I'm pretty sure I can cobble something decent together when I return. And I say that with certainty because my father had been here only two weeks prior and couldn't stop talking about the tortilla soup, which ordered and devoured again. He's not easy to please either.
