We are not people who post reviews of restaurants. If the place is good, we go back and bring friends, if not, we just don't go back. However what occurred on 7/10/24 was so egregious that we feel we need to let people know. We ordered the skirt steak tacos, which turned out to be chopped up bits of meat rather than strips of recognizable slices of skirt steak. That could be overlooked. However, after we ate the first tacos we discovered ants in the lettuce (billed as salad). We brought this to the attention of the staff and had them take it away. When our bill came, we were charged full price for our appetizer and entree. When we complained to our waiter, we fully expected him to remove the charge for the entree. Instead, he gave us a 10% discount because we ate two of the tacos. When we asked to speak with the owner, we were told he was not there. We will NEVER go back to this restaurant and suggest everyone reading this avoid this place like the plague! read more

First time I tried Mangoes was yesterday on Christmas Eve on a whim. Surprisingly, they were one of the few restaurants open last night. So glad I stopped by. Staff were extremely friendly and pleasant. I'm a big sangria fan and their sangria was excellent. We ordered the guacamole (the chips and salsa provided were good to begin with) but they make the guacamole in front of you and it was divine. I had the chicken fajitas which were very good and my husband had the combination (quesadilla, flauta and chimichanga) which he said was good as well. I'd also like to mention the rice and beans on the side were flavorful. (Usually that just gets slopped on the side and is bland in most restaurants but their rice was delish.) This place is amazing. Ambiance and waitstaff: this place is brightly colored and like the Spanish culture threw up on its walls, lol but I love it. It's part of the charm of this place... wait staff is friendly, they sing to you on your birthday and pour tequila from the bottle in your mouth, haha ! Food: they put chips and salsa on the table to start. We always order the table side guacamole, it is the best guacamole ever! They make it how you like, spicy or mild. I ask for no cilantro, because I don't like it and they leave it out for me! The combos are delicious, but the steak is the show stopper! We order the steak fajita and steak quesadilla every time we go. The steak is marinated and so delicious. The quesadilla comes with refried beans, yellow rice, sour cream, and shredded lettuce. It is amazing. I usually skip dessert because after the guacamole and meal I'm stuffed. But I have gotten the fried ice cream before and it is delicious as well! I give it a 3 out of 5. Food is good, sangria is very good, staff are very nice and helpful................but, the place requires a make-over. A make over outside and inside. Outside is dirty, dead shrubs, weeds, etc.... You will understand when you are there. Now the inside requires a total revamp. New layout, bathrooms, tables, chairs and a paintjob to brighten things up. Everything hanging on the walls should be removed, redo the wood work, etc... I said enough. Between the drunk girls a couple of tables away and the annoying pretentious couples next to us on a double date plus the other guests we couldn't really talk to each other much. I can't give this place 4 stars because of customer loudness though, it's not really their fault. Hubby says it's quieter during the week. It's true Mexican through and through. The atmosphere is lively decorated with all kinds of Mexican restaurant paraphernalia and they had a live Mariachi band on Saturday night, not sure if they have one all the time. One of the go to Mexican spots for me, my friends and family. Great happy hour deals, amazing food and fairly priced. It can have a bit of a wait at times but it is worth it. Sometimes if you have a smaller party they tend to make the drinks a little weaker which is the only downfall and some of the waitresses can have a bit of an attitude but I tend to let that go assuming they haven't had the greatest day. Last time we went we got their wings and guacamole as appetizers. The wings were so crispy and juicy we had to get another round of them. We generally eat indoors and always enjoy it. Falditas is BY FAR my favorite thing on the menu. I get it every time. Marinated Skirt Steak with avocado, rice and black beans - delish! Although this is my go-to there are tons of choices on the menu! We get the guacamole every time we come here (or any Mexi place for that matter) Theirs tastes really good and fresh and made to taste. They are limited in the Margarita flavors, but are tasty just the same. (Do they have Mango flavor??) I can honestly do without the Mariachis. If they just roamed and were background music it would be one thing, however as they come table to table I always feel obligated to pay attention to them at my table and tip them as well. To start with the ambiance, the restaurant feels authentically tropical and Latin: colorful walls, tile floors, sombreros and paintings adorned on the walls, and more. The staff here is also a lot of fun. Especially if you're celebrating an occasion, the staff will make it seem like a grand celebration! During peak hours, the restaurant features a live mariachi band playing both traditional Mexican music and modern latin favorites, from Santana to La Bamba. If it's your birthday, the band will come over to your table during dessert to sing happy birthday (quite loudly I'd like to add). Once you blow out the candle, the staff will ask everyone to loudly count to tres, then pour a shot of tequila straight out of the bottle down the back of your throat, then shake your head around to wash it down. And the whole time, you'll be wearing a sombrero. Not a bad way to celebrate a birthday, huh? To get back to the food and alcohol here, the food is pretty awesome. For appetizers, I especially recommend ordering guacamole, which they make fresh at the table and pairs very well with those salty restaurant-style tortilla chips included in your meal. In addition, the fajitas, enchiladas, quesadillas, burritos and other entrees are savory and delicious. The people here are very nice so it's hard for me to write this review but we were a party of 5 dining out. We ordered drinks and appetizers. Two of the drink orders were wrong, three of the meal orders were wrong and the appetizers arrived at the same time as the main courses. Both times I've been here (once for dinner, once for brunch - never too early for a margarita) I was greeted promptly, given a table right away, and served well (not rushed, but didn't have to wait for anything). The decor is very bright with trinkets in the window and mango vines on the wall. At night there is a festive mariachi band where in the daytime it's much quieter. I suggest getting a pitcher of margarita and fresh guacamole to start. My go to at any Mexican spot is the flauta dish; if you like crunchy shells and savory chicken, I highly suggest it. The decor and ambiance were really great and not too over the top like some places can be with this type of cuisine. However it felt like the food was very bland for a Mexican restaurant. Table side guacamole is a great touch. Fajitas are some of the best we've had. Paella is solid and the cajun jambalaya is spicy and delicious. Chips needed salt and the salsa was very bland like tomato sauce. We ordered a 1/2 pitcher of red sangria. It was not good. It tasted like cherry H-C with cheap wine. There wasn't any fruit in the sangria. My boyfriend ordered the Mangoes special and he was disappointed. He wasn't expecting his steak to be covered with shrimp, chicken and vegetables. Upon arriving at Mangoes, my date and I were greeted by either the manager or owner. We decided to sit at the bar; where the bartender was friendly, attentive and helpful in recommending drinks.. After hanging by the bar for a few we proceeded to sit down in the outdoor area, where we ordered a Margarita which we had sampled at the bar.. The Cajun Jambalaya had a ton of flavors and was very tasty.. . I never actually enjoyed a margarita until this experience. Service was genuine, attentive and they were able to make suggestions. I would highly recommend Mangoes Café if your looking for some authentic Mexican food or great beverages. From working in the restaurant business, my only constructive criticism would be to keep the outdoor area a little cleaner.
