I absolutely still love Taco Fiesta! The fish tacos are my favorite and are the top thing I order when I come. I have also had a steak taco, chicken bowl, and shrimp taco which were all amazing! Taco Fiesta guacamole is just pure amazing! And I love the salsa bar! On Mondays, they have 2 for 1 margaritas so that is pretty awesome for happy hour. Very good Mexican food...all of our meals were stuffed with meats...everything tasted very fresh and you can tell that the meats haven't been sitting in a warmer all day...nice, friendly staff...the salsa bar is a great way to try their variety of salsas. You order at a counter and they bring the food to your table. They were busy on a Saturday night and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. I came here for Happy hour on a Friday evening. The deal is that you buy 2 drinks and get to eat the buffet spread of tacos, fajitas, burritos, mexican rice and salad for free from 5-7pm. I spent a total of $17 for a peach margarita, a shot of tequila and a lot of Mexican food. When you're at the bar, keep a look out for the 3 skulls sitting on the shelf above the bartender. Those are Kah Tequila skull bottles and they come in white, black and brown. We tried the brown skull of Tequila Reposado (110 Proof), 55% alcohol! Makes all other tequilas pale in comparison. Apparently the bottle is painted as "El Diablo", inspired by the Day of the Dead Celebrations in Peru. Miners would pour tequila on the ground as a tribute to Satan, to keep them safe when they are working underground.. Anyway, the buffet spread was just okay. Only the chicken Fajitas and Mexican rice was good. I enjoyed experimenting with the wide spread of Salsa from the Salsa bar. My favourite was the mango salsa which was slightly spicy, sweet and juicy. I first had to convince myself to trust a restaurant with a logo affixed to the front that looked like a blast from the past in the best Saved By The Bell, 1980s style. The food wasn't as processed and unauthentic as Taco Bell, but they could take one step backward and be that way. At least they'd get an updated logo. The queso dip was a yellow processed cheese with pico thrown in. Guac was from a bag. The tortillas weren't fresh - pretty much par for the whole place. As for the meat, bland. Wow, bland. Incredibly. On the bright side, their seven in house salsas did make up for the poor taste of the rest of the food. Especially, the Salsa Asada with fire roasted Serrano peppers, tomatoes, and onions. The grilled after taste was delicious and stuck with me for a while. It's a great substitute for Mexican food if you like Taco Bell. Just try this place if you're really, really hungry and everything else is closed. Trust me on the Salsa Asada - wow. read more

No other place I can think of in the city that does BOGO margaritas on Sundays and Mondays. What an EXCELLENT way to start the week. The menu is amazing and on Sundays you can indulge in the breakfast menu as well. There's always a diverse selection of music spinning on the jukebox and the salsa selection is pretty impressive as well. The service is good, the food is great, and there's always a great atmosphere. Overall this is a place I frequent often. Especially on Sundays & Mondays. They came in tall glasses for $8 each which is a pretty good price. Only thing I didn't like was that the Margaritas were pre mixed and had the pre-mix taste if you let them sit for a while. Disappointing return visit!! We were looking forward to some tasty Tex-Mex with that open to air cantina feel and a nice margherita and beer or two with friendly bartender. We hadn't been in awhile- that was what used to happen!! Today- service surly, no hello, no smile. Music so loud we could barely hear. The order came out wrong - they mixed up the type of beans in each burrito, and my wife hates black beans so we swapped but was disappointing- we ordered different things. Mine was enchilada style, hers chimichanga. Though enchilada not so good- they just poured sauce on it, a weak, low on flavor sauce, no reheating under broiler with cheese. There was plenty of good- but only if you love rice and beans. Both burritos had little else in them- tiny bit of cheese, smattering of chicken. No room at bar so we had to sit at table- bar much better, bartender seemed nice and friendly. Overall- not going back. The best fish taco I've ever had on the east coast! I'm from California, and we do fish tacos with the freshest fish and vegetables, handmade corn tortillas and salsa. The tacos I had at Taco Fiesta were excellent, and really cheap! And they have a full bar! I also asked for a side of guacamole and chips and really liked the guacamole. You could tell they make it themselves and it's a really tasty guacamole. As a recent transplant from San Francisco, Lack Of A Decent Burrito was a giant fear of mine. So I was excited when several people independently recommended Taco Fiesta. I had hope and a gleam in my eye. "They have fresh salsa!" I was told. "It's really great!" I heard. Trivial stuff: Place is clean, reasonably well decorated, they have beer and a bar, parking's easy if you (ab)use Whole Food's validation, but, really, parking was available on the street each time I went... dunno what people complain about, but then I'm used to SF / North Beach / etc. The food and experience? Short version: While it was passable enough to keep me from bursting into tears for my treasured, much-missed taquerias back home, errr, "where I used to live" now, I guess, I still sobbed myself to sleep later that night with the memory of decent burritos lost. Salsa was weak and flavorless, food was overpriced, burrito was bland, expensive and poorly made, tacos were meh at best and overpriced. Won't be back. "Maybe your expectations are high," you say. Sure, that may be. But if you're gonna charge decent money, and act like you're all that, and have people singin' your praises, you get fair criticism. Someone involved with this operation should take a trip to SF, spend a week eating in the mission (hell, get a burrito at SFO on a stop-over, even the airport-burrito is better than this place) and do some research. The whole trip would even be a tax write off. The tacos at *any* taco truck in Oakland or SF would kick this place's ass, at 1/2 the price. SF burritos? They aren't in another league, they're in another universe. "CJ W." said it well with "Baja Fresh with a bar," but that might be too high a compliment. Baja Fresh ain't bad, in a pinch if it's your only choice. This food was fine (in the "edible and didn't give me cramps" way, I mean), but nothing, nowhere, no-how special or worth the cost/effort/trip/experience. Pass. I'd give it a one-star, but that'd probably be cruel and maybe an overreaction / arguably too-high standards. But this is definitely a "two stars in the context of an east-coast, very-little-decent-Mexican (if any?) city" review, not "two stars in comparison to all taquerias everywhere" review. Most telling? We left a lot of food uneaten. Which never -- never -- happens for me in a decent taqueria. Meh, at best. Sadly, if this is the best B'more has to offer, I'm going to have to save my multiple-fixes-each-week burrito-habit money in a piggybank and fly back to SF on a quarterly (or more frequent... I've been a fan of Taco Fiesta for quite some time for many reasons. Mostly due to the fact that Jerry, the owner is a great guy, he makes fresh homemade traditional Mexican fare and it's close to my condo. This weekend I added another reason, the Chicken Mole. Available in either Burrito or Platter style, Sunday's Special will become a menu staple shortly. Jerry recommended the Burrito, I didn't refuse and chose to have black beans instead of refried. The huge, freshly made stuffed-to-the-breaking-point tortilla was served with a side of guacamole. I must pause and praise this simple, yet so fulfilling condiment. I'm guessing it's scratch made, just simply concocted from newly picked avocados, garlic and onions; oh so flavorful. The chicken mole was spectacular. Smoky, nutty and spicy with a kick of Mexican cacao. I ate it so fast, I'm not sure what else was inside, possibly some rice and the black beans. I am truly impressed with Taco Fiesta's version of Chicken Mole, that I will be ordering this classic Mexican delicacy again and again. Thanks Jerry! read more

I would actually prefer getting a taco bowl from Chipotle; mainly because I can see them making my lunch in order in front of me and the ingredients are far more fresh. Went with a group of friends last night for a birthday night out that consisted of dinner and a concert. Taco Fiesta, in my estimation, is just another in a long line of Baltimore area Mexican eateries that are basically okay. I had the steak burrito "enchilada style," and thought it was pretty good, with the steak perfectly done. My gal went with the pork burrito enchilada style, and it was pretty good as well. I didn't think much of my sides of rice and refried beans, both of which were rather dry and not so tasty. The beer selection is the usual Mexican restaurant fare-- Modelo, Pacifico, Tecate, Corona, etc., but with a thankful addition of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale on tap. M'lady opted for a margarita that was very sweet and ended up becoming our table's mad scientist-mixologist experiment. First some ice water was added. Then some salt, then a splash of hot sauce. Then some beer. Nothing truly redeemed it, unfortunately. Another unusual highlight of the evening was one of the gang finding a long, thin strip of plastic in his food, probably a strip that came off of some ingredient that was packaged in a plastic container. Other notes: One the plus side, the food came out quickly, and they quickly accommodated our large group in the upstairs section. On the minus side, over and above the terrible margarita and the plastic strip, their salsas just aren't very good. One tasted like it was heavily laden with cinnamon and nutmeg, and most others were sort of bland. So, overall a perhaps generous 3 stars, rounding up from what I'd say was a 2.5 star experience. read more

I have been to this place many times but I think the quality of food is going down significantly. They used to have more personality but not any more. And the price of burrito is still too high for what it is. It is a good burrito, but I think other chains are much better at this point, and for less price. I like the store, it's cute, and they have a bar, but bartender wasn't very friendly, didn't even ask us to see if we wanted any drinks, and service was noticeably worse than before. Maybe I came in on a wrong day? I don't know. But I was very disappointed on my last visit to this place, and probably won't be going back there for a while. WARNING: This establishment is a breeding ground for foodborne illnesses! I have contracted severe food poisoning after eating here TWICE. My girlfriend and 3 of my buddies also contracted severe food poisoning on the same two occasions. We tried various items on the menu, ranging from fish, shrimp, pork, and chicken tacos, as well as burritos and enchiladas. Within 6 hours of eating at Taco Fiesta, all of us were at the Johns Hopkins emergency room with high fevers (102º and up), extreme nausea, diarrhea, heart palpitations, and cramping. Admittedly, we shouldn't have returned after our first dining experience gave us food poisoning, but we wanted to make sure that Taco Fiesta was the culprit since the food was pretty good. The second time we dined at Taco Fiesta, the same illness struck all of us, and we had not eaten any other meals that day. My doctor took my vomit and stool samples and found both to be full of Taco Fiesta's bacteria infested ingredients -- most notably their salsa (my friends' vomit and stool samples contained the same). While tasty, it is completely unsanitary how they keep lukewarm salsa out all day (if you go there, notice the fruit flies swarming around the salsa). I have a very strong stomach and I am very healthy. The illness brought about by Taco Fiesta is perhaps the sickest I have ever been as an adult. I have all of the records from Johns Hopkins in case anybody else has the same experience. If you dare dine at Taco Fiesta, you may enjoy the food -- but you are doing so at your own risk. This place seemed like a good idea. But as soon as I got to the register the cashier was painfully rude! I asked how he was doing and he simply sneered at me and my order. I figured maybe he's having bad day so I sucked it up. I got my burrito back to my hotel and at first glance seemed ok. But I opened it and it was NOT what I ordered even though the cashier asked multiple times for me to repeat my order. So I brought it back and with barely a "sorry" I got a new one. Upon returned to my hotel a SECOND time, I looked at the burrito and it was 1/2 the size! I'm sorry but for $10 for a bean,cheese, rice, sour cream & guacamole burrito that I had to walk back a forth twice to get and that was not even 1/2 pound, NO! This place is HORRIBLE! read more

First of all, let me be clear on the 5-star rating. Is this a 5-star restaurant in the traditional sense? Of course not. Did I get an awesome burrito for less than $6 when I had 20 minutes to spare? Absolutely. In fact, I was so happy at the end of my meal that I called a burrito-loving friend and told him we had to come here together. I went with the simple black bean and rice burrito, and smothered it with one of the fresh salsas (a medium salsa, don't remember which one). The tortilla tasted fresh, and it was the best tortilla I've had in Baltimore*. The beans and rice had a good, simple flavor without being overwhelmed by unnecessary seasonings. The salsa was excellent, just a little bit of heat with a very good tomato base and a strong combination of spices. For me, the test of a good burrito place is whether or not the simplest vegetarian item on the menu can satisfy me. This is the first place I've found in Baltimore that passes this test. Even without cheese, veggies, guacamole, sour cream, or any of the other things that most places use to add flavor, my burrito from Taco Fiesta tasted delicious and left me wanting more. * As a vegetarian, I can't eat at most of the traditional Mexican places that have sprouted up all over Southeast Baltimore. A lot of places use lard in their beans and/or tortillas. This place clearly states that they don't use lard in their tortillas, and the beans on my burrito were whole beans rather than refried. read more
