Friendly servers is the only reason they get 2 stars instead of 1. Cafeteria style Mexican food. They don't have tomatoes b/c they don't have refrigeration for them I was told. Soooo how do you keep the other perishable food cold? My server told me the tomatoes would go bad in 2 days not refrigerated so they just don't serve them. Sooo why don't you buy tomatoes every few days? Just saying. The complimentary tortilla chips we likely Sam's club bagged tortilla rounds and the salsa probably some of the worst I've ever had...not exaggerating. I ordered coffee because it was chilly outside and it tasted burned like it had been on the burner ALL day. I was so turned off after chips/salsa and burned coffee that I could only bring myself to order avocado tostadas. I wanted to use th ladies room before leaving but I didn't see that either. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, this is NOT the place. The staff was very friendly and I had no problems there. But the food is extremely basic, cafeteria like Mexican food. Other reviews compared the food to Taco Bell, and honestly Taco Bell has more flavor and "authenticity" then the Taco House. They only have beef and chicken. No asada, or steak, just ground beef that is nothing special. You can buy ground beef at the grocery store and make better burritos at home. The food overall was very very blah, and I would recommend searching elsewhere, unless you enjoy middle school cafeteria style Mexican food. read more

My second time here, really good tacos, really great service. This is not 5 star dining, but the place is great at what they do. The tacos are full , full! and balanced. I too exhausted to cook dinner this past week and asked hubby to pick up taco bell on the way home for our dinner. Somehow that translated to taco house. I wish it had been taco bell. I love the bullet holes in the windows, makes me feel like I'm actually in Mexico. The special combination is smoothed in green chili, that's actually red. The red chili is redder but i digress. The chips are usually a day or two old, but the salsa is good. They always say the plates are hot, so I touch the plate and burn my finger. Taco House is to Mexican food what McDonalds is to a "real" hamburger. So is Taco Bell, and we still like it! So whiie it is less-than-authentic Mexican food, it is tasty in its own way! I crave their cheese enchiladas (order a side of their tasty "dark red" salsa with them) and their tostadas and tacos. It used to be super cheap, and is now just reasonable in terms of price. I think the service is not superb, but it is generally friendly and not terrible. I dig the fact that it is so retro, not because they tried to make it look that way - it just does. I'm only giving it 2 stars instead of 1 because it's 6 bucks for a meal and you get what you pay for... Service was terrible, I stood there 10 minutes before they recognized my existence. Food was the same quality of what you'd buy in the dollar store to make your own tacos. Tortillas smeared with what was clearly canned guac, nacho sauce (think of the stuff you got in school), and salsa. Enchiladas are just store-bought tortilla wraps filled with shredded cheese (again, same level as stuff you get in the grocery store). The soda I got was watered down and flat. NO MORE BEER! They no longer serve beer. I was disapointed. Not just in the fact that they don't sale beer but also in the service, the stale chips, the cold salsa, and the bland flavor. I've been to this Taco House three times now - the first time I was kinda grossed out because I thought the place was somewhat dirty and I had it in my mind that I wasn't going to like the food. However, Taco house is one of my boyfriend's all-time favorite fast food places. He craves the salsa - he thinks it's the best in Denver metro! So, he begged me to go back and try it a second time, which I did with an open mind. This time it didn't seem dirty but just outdated instead. You get one complimentary basket of chips and salsa - the chips are the round kind you'd think of when buying corn chips in bulk. The salsa was definitely tasty - it's not chunky at all, which I actually kinda like. I ordered the daily speical, which (on Tuesday) was two beef hardshell tacos, beans and rice or $2.99 - what a DEAL!! I also had a guacamole tostada, which I enjoyed. My fiance had three tacos and a burrata, which is a bean burrito smothered in red enchilada sauce. This definitely isn't a place that I will seek out on my own or with friends but I won't mind coming back once in a while in order to please my boyfriend. read more

I have been going to The Taco House since 1978. I have seen a lot of things there. I have even had my son work there for a limited time. The last time I went I used the pick up window. Ordered 3 cheese enchilada plates which come with 3 tostada shells "chips" with cheese, guacamole,beans smeared on them. Only 2 were missing the "chips" they call them. I've been going to Taco House my entire life, and I love it! Best when paired with a trip to the Littleton Historical Museum, just up the street. Probably the biggest dive you will ever eat at, (don't be scared by the bullet holes in the window) but it's worth it once you try the enchilada sauce. SO GOOD! I always get 3 cheese enchiladas with onions. Delicious. A lot of their food is pretty bland, but the enchilada sauce is wonderful, and also it's tradition! They have changed out ingrediants and I think they water down their sauces to make it go farther because it tastes like its been watered down. This place has been in Littleton FOREVER so I've gotta give it to them for staying open. They were actually closed for a little over a year for remodeling and re-opened in the Spring of '16. I've only been through their drive-thru and it was not a good experience. It was on a VERY busy Sunday but it took us roughly 25 minutes to order and finally get out of there! The staff seemed a bit over-worked, like they desperately needed more help. The food was VERY bland, not at ALL what I would call "Mexican food". I could probably buy the ingredients from King Soopers and put it together myself for half the price. If they spice it up a bit, hire some more staff so the waiting time goes down, they might just stay in business. I wish them well! read more

Avoid this place at all costs. My wife went there a while back. The service was horrible, the food isn't what it used to be. And then the best part... My wife paid with a credit card that she hadn't used in a very long time. By the time she got home, she got a call from the credit card company telling her that someone was trying to charge something on line. And it was minutes after she left the taco house. My wife called the owner to let him know that this happened, and he accused my wife of lying. He said that it is his grand daughter that is the cashier, and started screaming at my wife. My wife told him that she was not trying to sue anyone, but just letting him know so that it doesn't happen again. But again, was accusing my wife of lying. I have been going to the Taco House for years, I was so much more happy with the food back when Joyce owned it, since the food has been a hit or miss, I have went in & had a really good meal but other times less than pleased, Well I again went into the Taco House last week with my Daughter & Grandson, I ordered a kids meal for my Grandson when it arrived I knew Taco House is way over priced he got a meal with 2 pizza rolls, 2 mac & cheese bites & 2 cheese sticks, I was charged $3.75 for a little side plate of rubbery appetizers that have a max worth of $1.00, We also ordered an order of chili con quesos 3 tostada shells with what is suppose to be cheese on the top, The cheese was gritty with a feeling it had sand in it & the cheese had a definite taste the cheese had been burnt while warming, I told the waitress I didn't care for them to please take them back, a few minutes later the owner came out to our table to ask what my problem was when I explained the chili con queso had a burnt taste I was told that was impossible that they get all their food pre cooked from the commissary & there was no way it could have been burnt & if I had a complaint I should just complain to them, the whole time I am thinking I am arguing with someone who owns a restaurant that serves up frozen dinners made by a commissary? Spent an hour and a half there to have part of a pop and non of my food to arrive. There was 1, inexperienced cook, 2 out of since..what the heck is happening, waitresses working the floor. No Owners or Managers were there and a full restaurant. I have been going here for 42 years and over a year ago the restaurant closed for repairs, they are open now but should of stayed closed if this is how it runs.
