Super disappointing. For 89$ for three burritos. Crazy.

SO DISAPPOINTED. 3 burritos for 85$ is insane. Bland flavors, don't come here unless you don't have tastebuds. Also poop on my burrito???

This is my go-to place after hiking at the nearby trails or visiting friends that live in San Anselmo. I like how the restaurant is so colorful and vibrant and has a good outside patio presence. They have good spicy margaritas which they also serve in pitchers, so great if with a bunch of people. It's just a cool place to hang out and it has a following.

We stopped by after being in town for a few days and needed some food at about 2pm on a Sunday. To the pro's: Quick service Highly recommend the ceviche if you like fresh options. Not our favorites: Although we tried the Chariza and Pabil tacos, we didn't want the whole plate with salad rice and beans. You cannot order ala carte and with 2 tacos to an order for $16 for the plate, it's not something I'd recommend if you're looking for just tacos. The mezcal marg was also decent but not my favorite. Worth a try if you're looking for a meal and not just a quick bite though.

Great food. Great service. Cute ambiance! Red snapper burrito is my go to. Get the calamari tacos. The sangria is amazing

    Try the ceviche!!! Delicious!

My hats off to the chef, a Peruvian, for the good work he is doing. My wife and I ate there last weekend celebrating Peru Independence day w/ a special menu. The place slowly filled with Peruvians. Exclamations of Salud, Dinero, y Amor could be heard. BIG smiles and sighs of home-sick soothing happiness over giant plates of Pollo ala Brasa. Ceviche, Jalea (so good my normally gluten free wife said WHATEVER and ate it anyway!), sauces, traditional spices, PERUVIAN Pisco Sours, and much more. I know and love Peruvian food. I was lucky enough to marry into a Peruvian family and cuisean. Mamita has been teaching me how to prepare Peruvian dishes for many years now and my wife as well. Service and staff are professional and friendly. The restaurant and facilities are clean and well maintained. Not to knock the Mexican menu items. They are also truly delicious. I recently also had mutiple items at a lunch with my son. "Dad, those are the best carne asada tacos I ever had." So, yes, best Peruvian food I've had around here anywhere. Yes. But, don't skip the Mexican food either on one of your sure to be many trips. Small small Note: If I could make only one very minor suggestion to the wonderful team there. Offer a choice of Mexican chips and salsa or Peruvian style veggie chips and sauces (Aji de rocoto, Juancaini, o Uchucuta). As good as your chips and salsa are, they don't entirely pair well with the Peruvian food. No prob if the Peruvian version has a small fee attached; we get it. Well done Marintas. See you soon.

They do have a to-go area where you can place order and pick it up, rather than going into the actual restaurant. My go to dish is the bistec sandwich, paired with their house special hot sauce, it is soooo good!!!! They also sell bottles of their hot sauce and salad dressing which is amazing. I recently tried their plantain burrito and it was also very delicious. My go to drink is their ponche which is super refreshing, especially during their summer months. I always forget to take photos of the food before I eat here because I am so excited to always dig in! I'll aim to come back soon to take photos and update my review. I came around 5:50PM on a Sunday night and had to wait about 10 minutes, but by the time I left around 6:30PM, the line was out the door and then some. Definitely get here early, and parking shouldn't be too hard with a lot nearby and free street parking. This spot is pretty casual, as in you order at the counter before grabbing a number and sitting at a table. As opposed to a food hall, you get directed where you sit before ordering, and sometimes end up sharing a table with another party, especially in my case when you have a party of 2. Service was attentive and food came out at a decent pace, though they did not come all together. I ordered a large Bistec Sandwich and a Pasteles Special. The Bistec sandwich is a must order, and I recommend ordering the sandwich over the plate due to how fragrant the bread was. Pictures might not look like much, but the bread was sooo good and crispy, and they give a good balance of meat, avocado and veggies. It can be a little heavy, but a large sandwich was perfect for my wife and I to share along with another plate. The Pastales was alright - the rice is pretty unique if you're looking for new flavors, but the pork was a little stinky and dry. The hot sauce on the table is really good and managed to mitigate that, and it's not as spicy as you'd think given the color and smell. The banana leaf in the tamale made it really fragrant with a unique taste, and the lemon sauce on the salad balanced the entire plate out. For a party of 2, I recommend ordering the Bistec Sandwich in large size (since I believe the regular price only gives you half) and another plate. I also recommend using the toast tab (online order) to look at the menu over their actual menu; the UI of it makes it hard to choose what to order and the toast menu has pictures next to the menu item. Given that Marin food options can be quite expensive or fancy, this place is the perfect place to go for a unique food spot, especially if you're coming from SF.

That place makes my son crazed and annoyed. He wants Mexican food to be the ilk grew up with (I raised him right); he wants to be able to step inside and afford a taco. He'll like Carmen's Hacienda. I liked Carmen's Hacienda. On a rainy night all but one table inside was filled and it was from there that I was served and what service it was. Fresh chips and two good salsas arrived at my table and two servers were quick to respond to every need of mine (which generally involved more salsa, more chips). I old-schooled it back to a long-time favorite dish of mine: a Taco Salad (about $15) with carne asada. This is one of those versions served in a fried tortilla shell and I was down for it, consuming almost every bite. The other dish at my table was a burrito with shredded chicken which proved ample enough for two meals. They asked if we wanted it "wet" but we instead opted for the sauce on the side, quickly realizing it's better than the sauce usually found. The sauce that tops a wet burrito here is thin and warm, glazing the burrito instead of drenching it. Very good. I'd tried Carmen's once before and not been taken with it but was really glad I returned. No doubt it'll be in heavy future rotation when I'm seeking a quick, casual dose of traditional Mexican fare.
