I hate to do this because last time I was in it was a 5/star experience. The owner was not there last Saturday evening and our waitress could not care to even get us a Togo box. There was a young man who was very attentive though. The real problem was the food. We ordered the nachos to split since we've done this before and the order was so small I had to go back and order more food. Nor was it the quality of what we had before. I told the cashier who took the order as well as the waiter dude but no one cared. I'm sure the owner would have. I was bragging about this place because I've always had good experiences but was a little embarrassed this time. We got a quesadilla with carne and it wasn't anything to write home about either. The location and food itself wasn't awful, but paying 15-20$ for a plate with little to no food is absolutely ridiculous. Visited Durango to go snowboarding for the day, at purgatory and was left disappointed on an empty stomach. I don't even eat very much, but having to pay so much for two little tortillas and more sides then the meal itself is embarrassing. read more

Luis the manager is a total ass. Came and dropped off chips, guacamole and queso spilled the queso on the table sort of wiped up his mess. Left the bowl of queso half filled. Had to ask him if we were going to get another one seemed really put off probably needs to be a security guard or parole officer shouldn't be in the customer service business. Durango is waking up from its Covid lull and we totally understand that. The food was great!! I really enjoyed my fish tacos. My husband had the steak Gorditas which he liked. We ordered skinny margaritas which were pretty good too!! But-- now that we are pretty much able to eat inside now Taco Libre needs to embrace the fact they are a real restaurant!! Our margaritas arrived in plastic glasses that water come in at a hotel breakfast buffet and even though the food was great the salsa came in wee lil plastic cups with lids. My husband needed utensils with his meal and he went back to prep area and got some plastic stuff. Yes it was good. 3 tacos carne asada, carnitas, and al pastor. Hubby had Lengua nachos. Nachos were messy but good. Salsas came in a squirt bottle n red was a bit frozen. If you did not get enough and want more tacos you have to get in line again (no biggy) no line. Ordered another taco to share a Lucha taco of al pastor. Very good. A lil drippy of juices but good. If you want service, eat at the bar. You don't need rice n beans when you can fill up on beer n tacos. read more

We had lunch delivered from Taco Libre and enjoyed it overall but had an issue with the side order of guacamole. We were expecting enough guacamole to eat with chips but found that the $2 side order was tiny, I mean, itty bitty, I'm not even sure if it would have been enough to add to a burrito or something. We found that the little guacamole we did get was very bland and we could tell by the discoloration that it was old. The al pastor was very good and the 2 taco option was a perfect portion for lunch. Amazing cocktails and food! I loved the Tamarindo Mezcalita!! The tacos were delicious. My wife had the torta and they did a great job with toasting the fresh bread. The inside of the torta was a perfect combo of creamy and tasty proteins from avocado and al pastor. I would definitely come here again! read more

Woah. after visiting the wonderful Mesa Verde all I wanted was a nice cold. Margarita. When I ordered my margarita, I noticed there was a baby fly in it. When I nicely took it back to the bartender, she told me I was wrong and even though I was wrong, she would drain it and give it back when she came back with the margarita she said yeah there was nothing in it very disappointed, the french fries were cold. The quesadillas were too hot. It was like the french fries were sitting up for hours and my quesadillas fresh off the press. Really offputting would not recommend. read more

The interior of this restaurant is inviting and fun. The Luchador mask all over are amazing additions to the phenomenal art displayed in every detail of the restaurant. That being said, the food is subpar. The queso is not worth buying. It gives the flavor of stale stadium nacho cheese. The house salsa is very flavorful but lacks any spice. I would suggest upgrading the queso dip and popping in some jalapeños or Serrano peppers in the salsa as well. The entries have a similar theme. Nachos Libre with carne asada lacked flavor outside of the weird aftertaste of the nacho cheese. The meat needed spice. The quesabirrias had a good flavor and was probably the 2nd best dish we tried. The issue was only one side of the quesadilla was crispy and held together. The pozole was the absolute best thing we tried. The pork was tender and the only thing missing was a lil more spice from the chili broth. Use a few more chilies and kick it up a level. Service wise, the gentleman who took our order at the front was nice but not friendly but the food came out in a good time. So restaurant interior is 5/5, Food was 2.5/5, service was 3.5/5. Came in for drinks with some coworkers and was sitting at the bar waiting to be asked what i wanted. Bartender never made eye contact with me or asked me what i wanted. Another staff person came behind the bar and took my order and told me next time to order at a different section of the bar? I was confused and didnt know there was a special place to order a drink even if youre sitting at the bar. I ordered street tacos and requested their extra hot salsa as I always do, but was told it was only for the employees, which makes me believe the manager felt I couldn't handle the heat... We loved this place! Visited Durango for the first time and this was the first place we ate. Amazing! Love the interior. So many fun themed decorations and great atmosphere. Oh and the food? Delicious!!! My boyfriend got the taco fries and they looked so fresh and good. He eats like crazy and could barely finish them! I got the regular tacos with al pastor meat. Such good combination of sweet and savory ingredients on the tacos! I would recommend getting 3-4 if you're hungry.... they are super small! Counter ordering (versus table service) is not a deal breaker but does slow your roll if you want a few cervezas or margaritas. I suggest you skip the street tacos (above average) for the lucha tacos (amazing). We enjoyed the chicken and carne asada tacos (carnitas so-so). The guacamole is solid and the salsa (with chips) is excellent (although spicy). Quesadilla was excellent, whatever cheese they use is not your typical kids quesadilla. We were there on their second day of being open. The quesadilla birria (can't remember their name for it) was amazing. I'd return just to have that! The birria juice was flavorful and the quesadilla had carne asada was very good. The carnitas nachos were good but the carnitas was over cooked. I'm sure this will be fixed in time. mags are served in small plastic cups. I went there before and got a marg that was about 3/4 full. Thought it was just an over sight. But went again and order 2 margs. Watched the "bartender" make them all out of one shaker. He poured the one shaker into 3 glasses. All the glasses were not even close to full with lots of ice. one of the two I order was about 2/3rd full and the other was about 3/4 fulll. I said something to the bartended and he told me that each one was measured out had the same amount, then the other female bartender barked at me and said its just cause some had more ice?
