Anybody who is sensitive to spicy food should stay home, this place is for the heat lovers. The salsa bar is awesome and so many choices. My favorite was the green jalapeño. Fresh and delicious. I've never been to Mexico, but I know real food when I taste it, and you'll find it here. We've tried multiple menu items, but our favorites are the machete and pozole. I had high hopes for this place with the good reviews and the overall look of the place. Unfortunately the best thing was the mural on the wall that was really cool. The machete was not bad but not good either. The steak was really bad quality (really grisly and super cheap cut) the pastor was good but I kinda feel like they were cheating because it had bacon bits in it. ("Real" pastor wouldn't have that). The salsa bar was ok not bad but not the best either. The thing that bothered me the most was how crowded it was. It was super busy and all the tables were full and when one person left there was 2 people waiting for each table. And none of the tables looked actually clean. Terrible customer service. Waited for 30 minutes for our food tonight. We went up multiple times to see if our food was ready because everyone was given the same order number. Seriously, what is the point in giving everyone the same order number? The cashier (Edwin) was too busy talking to his friends to notice our food had been ready for 15 minutes. So one day all of a sudden there is flashy looking new taco joint on Robert right down the street from a bunch of other taco places that are, for the most part, very good. So i went in to investigate and immediately I'm impressed, big time. They have street style tacos with tons of options. Most importantly they have tacos al pastor, with a for real spit with pineapple and onion and all. The servings are generous. If you are hungry get the Machete, it's like a 16 inch taco. The pastor is great, the mushrooms and cheese tacos were very good also. The salsas are all super fresh and tasty. The menu looks really amazing, too. There is menudo, tripe, corn, tamales, all the usual sides and some you might not know. The rice was really hard to put down. I'll do some more research here and check back in with more info on the food. Now listen, we here in Saint Paul have a hard time getting food at night. Even on the weekends. So this place is a godsend, as these guys stay open till midnight during the week, and 4AM on Friday and Saturday. There are few things better than good Mexican food. The street tacos are to die for. I got the beef cheek. The creamy green salsa, looked avocado based was amazing. It was how ever misplaced in the "Mild" area of the salsa bar. It was very spicy. I tried three of the Tamales, the pineapple, pork in red sauce and the Veggie one. They tasted amazing. My only complaint is they seemed a bit dried out. Someone got the machete that was awesome too. We also got two bowls. For at 8.00 move over Chipotle, the bowls are coming for ya.
