Cachapa Loka has amazing cachapa's de pollo and just not to long again i had a patacon for the first time. If you are looking for authentic Dominican sandwiches this is the place to go. The location is perfect because there's a public meter parking lot right in front. However, make sure you have some change with you because they charge. This is the perfect place for you to grab some yummy Dominican treats like a patacon and a merengue soda. They also have yummy empanadas and a huge varieties of juices. A lot of the juices are also natural and they make it right there and then. The atmosphere is super casual. It is more of a order and go type of place but if you want to sit down and eat your food there you definitely can. I feel like Cachapa Loka has become super popular in the recent years because they also have a couple more restaurants around the state which is amazing. Definitely recommend stopping by for some yummy treats!

I love coming here strictly for the patacones! I always get the ham and cheese patacón and never regret it, the taste is amazing! Along with that I order either passion fruit juice or morir soñando, but I'm not a huge fan as the drinks tend to be a bit too sugary for my taste. I have been to all three locations, Passaic, Newark and Paterson, and have had a great experience in all! The place is clean, plenty to space to sit and enjoy your food, and great music. All in all, I would totally recommend stopping by one of these three locations and trying their patacones!

I ordered Uber eats and was exited because 3 years back this was my spot but I moved away and don't find my self in downtown Passaic much anymore, I ordered a chimi de res, tamarindo juice, pollo y vegetales empanada and a beer empanada, the beef empanada was delicious, the pollo empanada was burnt nasty and dry, the chimi was stale, dry and flavorless worst chimi I ever had the bred it's self tasted old and tough the best thing was the tree leches and as you guys see is not even made in the restaurant the order then from a really good bakery in manhattan so of course that was good but almost yea I've the price you pay if u get it from Manhattan!! Waste of money I'm so post off and mind you I almost never write a review

Pernil arepa is LIT right now.

I have no idea what "Cachapa Loka" means. But if the food is any indication, then it probably means "crazy grub". Or something like that. My Spanish is rusty... But I digress. I stopped here with a friend on my birthday, since it was next door to the club in which I'd be partying. Passaic is known for its mainly Hispanic population, so it wasn't shocking to run into an awesome spot like this. I decided to order some food here so I wouldn't get plastered the minute my lips devoured one Long Island. I ordered a Pernil Arepa. It was pretty frickin' awesome. In all my years of going to Banana King (another Latin, chain-like restaurant), I've gone there simply for the convenience... But never for the flavor, service, or presentation. Well, here at Cachapa, they're really neat w/ their presentation. This sandwich was really delectable. The meat could have been a TAD more moist, but it doesn't detract from the overall quality of the sammich. It was simple, with just lettuce & tomatoes... And some kinda awesome sauce. Also, the arepa was a tad bit greasy (due to the fact that it's fried), so maybe a bit of drying might be in order before they serve it. My friend ordered empanadas, which they fried fresh. They were pretty tasty, according to him. In reading other reviews, I notice that some complain about their pricing. Personally, I thought their prices were very reasonable. VERY. My sandwich was only about 5 and change. And the quality was decent. All in all, I had a cool experience here, without having to have been inebriated like I would for Banana King. Hopefully the next time I come, I can update the rating to a 5-star.

    Patacón de pollo (chicken)

I'm reviewing this based on my daughter and her friends. They ordered the Chimi and the patacón de pollo (chicken) and loved it. I only had the cheese empanada and it was good but not mind blowing. The place is small and clean. It wasn't busy but we did come here early (11am) since that's their lunch hour. I know they will be coming back. Not so much for me as there aren't much vegetarian options.

Finally I don't have to go to the heights for some patacons! Came here today and it was delicious. Nice and clean inside, plenty of seating and pleasant workers. Got a cheese patacon and cheese sticks. Both were really good.

We were greeted and said we could sit anywhere and told no yellow rice and chorizo. Except for decor a mural of Old San Juan nothing authentic but we are here for the food. Ordered chorizo and maduros Empanadas appetizer tripeleta sandwich with side of tostones. Wife had Mofongo with shrimp. Empanada was really good never had that combo before so good start. Triplelta is steak pork and chicken and super soft hero/pan bread. Nice flavor tostones were big and were accompanied by a garlic white sauce. I like just ajo in oil which they did not have. Wifes mofongo was a little salty as were the jumbo shrimp in white sauce. She did receive a wonderful citrus dressing which she used on the little salad which she loved. We took most of it home since we were not looking to fill up prior to the casino. Saw a few people order takeout not sure if that makes up a large part of business or not. My wife and I have been in hospitality for 30 years and if you see a new face wouldn't you want to welcome them and thank them for trying out the restaurant? I think so. Not sure if it was owner or manager but he spoke to the one other table throughout our meal. I think he missed an opportunity to talk with us about our experience. Waitress spoke only English which is stark contrast to every Spanish restaurant in Brooklyn where we lived for 30 years. My wife is Puerto Rican so she was looking for that connection to no avail. So to close the food was decent but not sure I would make the trip back. We will keep trying til we find a real Spanish restaurant.

These had a lack of that, The alcapuras were nice and crispy and had flavor, but one seasoning used was unfamiliar, and they didn't need to add it. As per my sofito burger that had avocado, fried cheese, some sort of aioli really wasn't a marriage for me. It did not all go together. The ground meat was too thick and bland. I guess if you're starving, it'll taste good. Yuca fries were thick and hard. My husband's entree was better tasting but wasn't hot. The parcha juice was a 10/10.

It's a very casual, cafeteria-style spot with a semi-open kitchen, but don't let the simplicity fool you -- the food is incredible and the staff here is friendly and patient. The highlight of the experience is the small buffet that features a variety of freshly-made Latin cuisine -- including pulled pork, chicken and beef stews, and other traditional Latin entrees and sides. You can build your own plate by selecting one or more entrees and sides - which are priced accordingly. As a 'gringo' who wasn't entirely sure what everything was, I really appreciated them taking the extra time to explain all the different options and give me their honest recommendations. The counterstaff is bilingual and were pretty patient with my elementary school level Spanish vocabulary and grammar. I ended up going with the pulled pork platter with two sides ($7) and it was terrific -- the perfectly seasoned and tender pork, black beans and rice, and macaroni salad were delicious and very filling. You can tell they use fresh ingredients, and the portions are very generous for the price. If you're looking for authentic, home-style Latino food in a laid-back setting, this is the spot! PRO TIP #1: Bring a bottle of wine or beer from home to enjoy with your meal. Sazon Latino is a BYOB establishment and does not serve alcohol. PRO TIP #2: Sazon Latino offers free off-street parking in a small lot behind the restaurant and there's plenty of free on-street parking on Main Street.

Upon arrival inside, with the warm and inviting earth tones making a very relaxed vibe, we were greeted by the host and got a table in one of the three rooms. The menu offers an appealing array of tapas, paellas, and traditional Spanish dishes bursting with authentic flavors. As appetizers, we decided on a dozen East Coast Oysters and Ecargots Segovia. Our main entree consisted of Scallops and Shrimp, Stuffed Shrimp, Short Ribs, Whole Baked Branzino, and Veal Castellana unfortunately with no substitution. Rice, Broccoli and Potato Chips accompanied our meal to be shared by everyone. Complimentary European-style rolls with butter started our meal. Each bite was a testament to the chef's dedication to quality and craftsmanship. However, the shrimps were not only overcooked but also tasteless. The scallop and jumbo shrimp dish looked more like an appetizer than a main. The service was courteous and attentive; our server was Silvano, who was friendly. The price was a bit steep.
