We always carry out. The cashier is cordial and knows the menu and ingredients. Orders come up quickly, and they honor special requests. Amazingly, as the chef sets a completed meal up un the shelf over his work space, the cashier pops open the carry out container to verify that the order is prepared as ordered. I haven't seen this dine elsewhere, but it really reduces the likelihood that you might arrive home and discover an error or missing items. This was our first time at the St. Charles location after the Geneva location closed. Same great tasting food. Steak, chicken, and fish tacos had fantastic flavor. I have been ordering from the St Charles location about 1-2 times a month since the summer. Generally they have good quality, content, and accuracy of my orders. The last two orders that I placed through the online service have been wrong. Wrong filling, wrong tortillas, lack of filling and toppings, etc. I mean, I see the same manager and employees, so what's the deal? I sent an email and called only to get absolutely no response. Not a big fan of the new salsa selection or lack of. It seems obvious to me that they're going cheap all of a sudden. I liked the place and the food, no complaints here. Came with my son for a quick bite. The place does have a fast food feel, reminds me a bit of Chipotle, maybe a tad nicer. I had two shrimp tacos, my son had the three tacos meal. We got salsa and chips to start with and there's a little sauce "bar" on the side where you can get some more sauces, mild, medium, hot, different flavors. The two tacos filled me up pretty well. Stopped in after driving by it numerous times, and I'm glad we did. The place is small but clean. When you walk in you order at the counter and then choose a table to sit at. If you're dining in, they serve you a bowl of chips and salsa. The salsa they give you is warm which was surprising but good! They also have a salsa bar with at least 6 different types of salsa to choose from. We opted to try the tacos and weren't disappointed. My SO and I both got the 2 taco plate. He ordered the chilango tacos and I opted to try 2 of the gourmet tacos (chile relleno and paneer), and all I can say is YUM! I already want to go back! Something to keep in mind as others have stated, there is an 89 cent upcharge (per taco) to order one of the specialty or gourmet tacos with the 2 or 3 taco plate. The Tampiquena was NOT. Dry and VERY tough steak. No sauce, and NO pepper! Rice/Beans okay. The 2 Stars are for the Chilango Taco. The service was great, very attentive and well-trained staff. Food came out pretty fast. It's set up like Noodles and Company where they give you a number after ordering at the counter. They then deliver your order to your table. My group tried the corn tortilla specialty tacos (shrimp, beef, chicken, and al pastor varieties) and they were all really great and well-seasoned. The only below-average dish we had was the shrimp fajitas. They came in a little lukewarm and underseasoned. The portion of shrimp compared to peppers and onions was too small. Wanted to try tacos today. Found this little place on the nearby. Upon arrival we were greeted pleasantly at the front door which is always a plus. However that's about the best part. A little pricey for what you get. I ordered three chicken tacos Mexican style. Tacos were dry, so so dry. Rice was not in a dish, just scooped onto the paper on the tray. Just wow. I would never even have walked in to this place because it seemed too "Taco Bell-ish." My daughter came home and raved about the food. I was skeptical to say the least. In one week I have already been there twice. I ordered Mahi-mahi tacos both times. First time on a flour tortilla, second time on a corn tortilla. They are both delicious but I will go corn from now on. Their homemade mayo ( which I get on the side ) is quite nice- a nice kick but not too spicy- just enough. Screeeeech....put on the brakes....reverse. This is my advice for Taco Madre management. I have been a steady customer, frequently coming in for tacos, carne asade, quesadillas, etc, and enjoyed decorating my meals with your flavorful sauces (particularly the delectable avocado sauce) and an assortment of hot carrots/onions. It appears this experience has all ended suddenly...TODAY. No more avocado sauce! No more little containers to choose some sauces for my to-go orders! It was also very disappointing that the order taker (a tall, tough looking guy), was unapologetic and copped an attitude when I asked about the disappearance of the sauces. He said they realized it would be a "breaker" for some, but a risk they were willing to take. He insisted that the new sauces (all tomatillo type sauces) are great. He also informed me that the new policy is that each order gets 2 mild, 2 medium, and the hot sauce & spicy carrots are for "dine in" customers only. The tacos I ordered were still just as delicate and flavorful as ever...however, the order taker (the tall, tough looking guy) was overheard arguing with the chef about making the chili relleno taco. I couldn't overhear the actual discussion, but there was obviously some type of ordeal about the making of my chili relleno taco. Perhaps that will be next to disappear? The whole experience left me with a bad taste...not just from the new sauces either. It's sad to say, as this has been a delicious, friendly restaurant since their opening....until today. The food was good but not like it used to be. Also, visited on one of those near 90 something degree days last week - and their AC had to have been broken. It was cooler OUTSIDE than it was in there. What was supposed to be a refreshing margarita immediately turned warm, all ice melting, cup sweating within 5 minutes. I don't understand how the employees were working in there.
